Summary: Very good book, but I was sort of confused
Review: I read this book within hours, I could not put it down. It made me cry to see what children go through sometimes. I applaud Dave for his courage to get through that situation. I do not think that I would have stayed if I was faced with such. I was confused however as to why his mother would behave this way towards him, and how his father could let her do such things to his child.

Summary: An Exceptional Book
Review: The book, A child Called "It", was exceptional. It grabbed my attetion and I couldn't put it down. Befofe reading this book, I never knew how abusive a mother could be to her child. It suprised me to see a mother turn all of her love into hate within a matter of months. I definitly give this story five stars because I've never read a book that kept me so intrested, that I didn't want to put it down. Also, I have never read a book that made me cry so much. It made me think about life and blessed I am to have a mother so loving and kind to me. I recomend this book to anyone because hearing about the torture that David went through would inspire anyone to join the fight against child abuse. If you are looking for a great book to read, this book would be my number one recommendation. Definitley my favorite book of all time. -Anne

Summary: A Child Called it
Review: This book was probally the best book that I have ever read. In his book David Pelzer describes how horrible he was treated by his mother and how he was treated by his peers and teachers at school. His life was fine in his early years, but as he grew older he became trapped in what he described as a livng hee. He began to plot out ways to survive from not being killed by his mother. He also had to deal with an alocoholic father who although, once was a caring and loving father turned his back to whatever his wife did to David. As David grew older his punishments got more extreme. One example is that he was forced to lay completely under water in cold bath water from the period after school until late at night. He was also locked in his bathroom with a full bucket of ammonia. The main idea of this book is that no matter how hard your life is that you should never give up and always look towards the future.I felt that David's choice of a title was exellent. The title describes in one word, IT, how he was treated, like a thing, that wasn't human. David showed to be a very strong and determined individual. His mother was obviously very disturbed and frustrated. The weird thing was that she only treated David horrible, the other childre were treated just as most good parents treat their kids. Davids father made me ver angr, and it was hard for me to understand him. He was a strong man physically, bu not mentally. Even though he didn't want his wife to do thee things to David he was not strong enough to do anything about it. This book definately made me think about how great my life is and how great my parents are. I feel that his is a must read book and makes you think a lot.

Summary: An eye opening, heart touching book!
Review: This book, A child called "It", was a very touching book. I gave it five stars because it opened my eyes to realize that child abuse is all over the United States and the world. It touched my heart when I read stories upon stories of David's hardships with his mother and family. I don't believe I would have the courage that David did to stay alive that long. After reading this book, I feel it is my part to take action and help out kids with families like the Pelzers. Definitly the BEST book I have EVER read. I recommend it to all ages.

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: A Child Called It is an autobiography that explains a child's struggle to survive a severe case of child avuse. Dave Peltzer is one of four children. Dave was forced by his mother (an Alcoholic) to do all of the chores while his three brothers played outside. He wasn't allowed to eat unless he was rewarded by his mother. If she found out he disobeyed her in any way she would choose one of her many cruel punishments, after beating him. Her favorite was locking him in the bathroom with a mixture of ammonia and bleach. Dave knew the only way to beat his mother was to act like none of her punishments bothered him. Ke didn't cry when she hit him, he just accepted his punishment and continued on with his chores. A Child Called It will definitely touch your heart. Once you pick it up you won't put it down. So for all of you emotional people, grab your box of Kleenex and get started. It will be worth it.

Summary: A Truely Eye Opening read
Review: I just had to write a review to say how much i enjoyed reading The Boy called'IT'. I have never read of such abused to this scale i cryed all the way through. You come to love David very quickly and its very hard to read what The Mother did to him but on the other hand it is a book that you can not put down until you have read it all. It also shows the powers that be at work. But how was he allowed to suffer for so long before he was rescued? the book is extremly well written. I also read the second book called The Lost Boy. This was excellent too. It tells of how he copes with life after The Mother and the predudices he encounters. Iam really looking forward to reading the third book but it is not yet out in England. WELL WORTH READING.

Summary: Unbelievable but worth the read
Review: I have read all 3 of Dave's books. I have written a review on A Man Called Dave. While reading other reviews I cannot believe how a customer can say that the book was terrible. I understand everyone has their opinion, but you have to realize this was written as if a 4-7 year old was telling the story. The abuse Dave endured was beyond anything I could ever imagine. I know after reading all of his books, that I am truly grateful and lucky to have been brought up the way I was. At times, the things he writes about are truly unbelievable. You don't want to believe such things exist in our society. All I can say is that Dave has truly touched my heart with all of his writings. I suggest everyone read all of his books. You will see what became of this heroic child and how he became a man. God Bless You Dave.

Summary: TEARS FOR THIS CHILD
Review: The tears started from page one. They did not end there. This book has brought so much awareness to me that all I can think of is how can I help other, so they may not suffer as David did. I so wanted to just take him in my arms and hold him, to make everything all right. I am so sorry for what he had to go through and is still going thru. I read this book in one night and first thing in the morning I order THE LOST BOY. If any one is getting A CHILD CALLED IT buy both books at once. I wish David would of told what happened to his mother after he was free. I am sure everyone would like to know. This book make me so ashame to call myself a mother when their are mothers like Davids out there. But if truth be told they are not mother but monsters. Are they even human I think not for anyone that can do this to a helpless child or to anything human or alive is not human. A CHILD CALLED IT is a book worth buying and keeping after you share it with anyone . I feel that this book be required reading for course at collage for anyone going into the field of helping children. This book is a must.

Summary: What a heart breaking story!
Review: This book deals the issue of severe child abuse from the victim's point of view. The author writes about his ordeal in a child's tone. When I read it I thought to myself, this kid is a survivor and very mature for his age. His story is very dark and what he goes through made me cry.

I look at my own child and there is no way in heaven that I could harm him. What kind of monster must his mother have been in order to treat him like she did. She does not even warrant being called a mother, because mothers do not do that to their child.

But the whole story is not about child abuse, it is infact about the inner strength and the courage that David Pelzer showed. He is an extraordinary person who has been to my nightmares and back. He demonstrates through his writing that the human spirit is inextinguishable. His will to survive is a lesson to all.
