Summary: Unbelieveable Horror
Review: This book is an easy read and has long lasting effects regarding the unbelieveable child abuse that David Peltzer survived. I think I read that it was the third worst case of child abuse in California. You see David as a small, if not scrawny child, that lives in constant fear of relentless beating and torture which happen on a daily basis: he must eat feces, rancid meat, inhale and injest toxic substances, and his own brothers kick and beat him as well. Sadly, his mother is so controlling that even his father cannot protect him against her rath. The book stays with you for much longer that it takes to read. My only critique would be that although the book states that it is from a child's viewpoint, I thought that it floated in and out of the child's voice and often read from a much older person's viewpoint. I recognize that this is a minute point and that it is an extremely difficult task to write a book like this let alone remain in the child's voice the entire time. Finally, this book is inspiring, compelling as well as gut wrenching. David Pelzer is a commendable and inspiring survivor that we can all learn something from.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: I read A Child CAlled "It". I thought the book was very interresting it was like you were there with them because you knew what was going to happen next. This biograghy is about a young boy who had a happy normal life with his parents and two older brothers. The five of them were a happy family, until one day his sweet loving mother turned into a nasty villian like something out of a comic book. The mentally disturberd alcoholic "mother" would starve and abuse him physically and mentally. From the ice water baths and making a mixture of ammonia and chlorox locked in the bathroom. She even stabbed him in the stomach with a carving knife. His Father wouldn't believe him when he told him that "mom" was hurting him. Finally he escaped and his life was getting better. The sequal of this book The Lost Boy seems very interesting. I recommend this book to anyone who likes and good yet sad story.

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: A Child Called It is a great book anyone would like. This book is a true story about the author Dave Pelzer and one of the worst child abuse case's to date. Everyone I know has read this book and the one's who haven't I convinsed to read it. In the book Dave is abused by his mother and forced to play his mother's "games" which almost leave him dead.I really liked this book and this is the first book I have ever read, so it has to be good. If you like this book there are two other books after it that are equaly good, The Lost Boy and A Man Named Dave.

Summary: A Child Called "it"
Review: A Child Called "it" is a true story about a little boy named Dave Pelzer. The story starts off from the end. It is a little confusing at first. This story is basically about how David grew up. His mother beat him and tortured him. She started doing this when he was a little boy. Dave also had 3 younger brothers. For some odd reason she only beat Dave. He never knew why she picked him to torture and not the other brothers. David's mother beat him, stabbed him, smashed his head into mirrors, locked him in the bathroom with ammonia, made him throw up his food and then eat it again. He fought so hard to survive. David's father was no help. He was just as afraid as poor Dave. He always said he would get them both out of that hell house but he never met up to what he said. In my opinion, I feel this book is the best book that was ever published. It was very easy to read and once you start reading it you just can't put it down.

Summary: The worst of suffering
Review: It is truly hard to believe all that Dave Pelzer had to suffer through as a child. It is even more hard to believe how he put it into words in this book. The descriptions in this story are so vivid that it almost makes you feel like you are right there with him. This is a good thing. For almost 3 hours I could not put this book down. It caught my attention and led me to keep on just turning the page. Dave had to be one of the strongest kids I have ever heard of. To go through all of that physical and mental abuse and still be able to talk to people around the world of what had happened to him is incredible. I never knew how bad child abuse could be. I now have an idea what it is like to be a victim of this terrible crime. It is horrible how the teachers and people who knew him didn't even recognize what he was going through until the end. I strongly recommend this book to anyone and everyone. Even if you are not a big reader, this book will pull you in page for page until the last page. It is a short read, yet very very powerful. Grab a box of kleenex before you start because this book is a real tearjerker.

Summary: Amazing!
Review: What is so amazing about this story? The simple fact that this boy survived. And he not only survived, but if you go on to read the rest of the series, you'll see that he succeeded. This story will rip out your heart. To hear the pain and suffering that this child was put through at the hands of his own mother. But, this story really has a happy ending because somewhere inside himself, he found the will to persevere.

Summary: "a child called it" has touched my heart....
Review: This book is really interserting. Its almost as if i was there with him sharing his punishments. When i first heard about this book i was eager to read it, and when i did i couldnt put it down. I finished the book in 2 hours tops...then continued on with the sequal "the lost boy" which was also great...i finished that in the same day as well. Then a week later i heard that there was a "a man named Dave" out. so i went and got that also...i am still reading that one and i intend to see how daves life ended up. I do insist that everyone one reads this book young or old..it is really good.

Summary: "A Child Called 'It"..." a Child's Living Nightmare
Review: I read the book from cover to cover the minute I opened it. It's contents aren't pretty, but it is a true example of courage, determination, and the strength of the human spirit. I was dismayed at the actions displayed by not only the mother, but also the father, who did nothing to stop the horrendous abuse done to his son, Dave. This book must have taken an enormous amount of courage to write and it must have been incredibly cleansing for the author. I have gone on to read the two sequels to this book and encourage all who have read this to do the same. This book is really a success story. The most amazing thing is that the author was able to forgive his mother for all of the wretched things she had done. He is truly a very special person. Kudos to you, Dave!
