Summary: this book is great
Review: A Child Called IT is an incredible story from start to finish. This book takes you through Dave Pelzer's childhood and shows you what it was like to grow up in a world where you feel unloved and everyone is an enemy.Dave grew up with a severely abusive mother and a father powerless to stop the chokehold she had over the boy throughout the majority of his childhood,if you're someone who grew up in a household under similar circumstances I think you will really get alot out of this book, and if you're someone who has never experienced anything like this, this book is a great way to understand what it was like and what its like to grow up in a world full of darkness.A Child Called It is an incredible testament to the human spirit and how much a person can actually withstand.I think this book is a must read for everyone.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: Did you ever think your mother or father abused you? This boy Dave has been through terrible times. Dave's mother is an alcoholic and emotionally unstable. She abused Dave in ways you can't imagine!
Dave went to school in rags. His shirt was filled with holes. The kids who were in his class couldn't stop laughing at him. He stole food in order to live, either at a store, or from his classmates' lunchboxs. When he did get food, it was scraps of food the dog refused to eat.
His bed was an old army cot in the basement. His father was his protecter sometimes. They called him up after they're done eating, and make Dave clean up after them. He had no one to lean on. His dreams are what kept him alive.
His dream was to have someone hold his hand and say,"Hey son!"
I really enjoyed this book. I personally think it was good because I now know that I should be thankful for parents like mine. They're always trying to help me, and to succeed in anything I have to accomplish. I recommend this book to people who think they have bad parents, parents who ground you, make you eat your vegetables, or you can't go to your friend's house because your parents have plans. Parents like that are trying to help you and succeed in life.
To tell you the truth, I'm not a big reader. It usually takes me a month to read one book. This book was so good, I couldn't put it down. It took me three days to read it. People said it was good, so I decided to check it out of the library. This book took me through one thing after another, that I couldn't put it down. It was so emotional, I could almost feel and hear what he was going through.

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: This book is the first of a trilogy, which is written by Dave Pelzer, tells about his childhood and the abuse he endures from his mother. From the ages of four to twelve, this helpless little boy is beaten, starved, and in some parts, emotionally crushed. Over the course of these years, he lives in fear of his mother's next abusing move. There is nowhere this kid can go for help. He wouldn't dare tell anyone, because he is afraid that his mother might find out.
The reader will feel like they are right there with the boy. The reader will feel strong emotions. The reader will want to help him out, but the only thing the reader can do is turn the page. This book will keep you reading until you finished. The things the mother does to the poor kid, such as smearing a dirty diaper in his face, will make you want her to stop. The mother does things such as attempted burning on the stove, making the kid drink ammonia, and making him regurgitate his food and make him eat it again. His school will eventually find out and get him away from his mother, where he will then be put in a foster home with parents that love him.
Dave Pelzer does a great job writing it as if a young boy was saying it. This book is a quick read, but very interesting. It will help you understand more about child abuse if you want to see what it is like through the eye's of a child. I recommend this book to everyone that wants to learn about it.

Summary: severeity of abuse
Review: I have read three books, A Child Called It, Nightmares Echo and Lost Boy. The three books give a clear example of the worst types of abuse. A Child Called It tells of the worst case of child abuse and the courage to survive. Nightmares Echo tells of Molestation and child abuse. If you read these books for no other reason, read them to see what it is like to be that child...read it to learn what is going on in our world. And read it to be thankful everyday that you did not have to live the life they had to suffer through.

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: agrees with reviewer on prior page
Review: A Child Called It is to child abuse as Nightmares Echo is to Child Molestattion. Think you dont need to read either book because you haven't been abused? Think again. It will make you think long and hard about your own life and the life of the people around you

Summary: On the edge of your seat......
Review: ...is where you'll be while reading this book of one child's fight to survive. This book with make your gut ache & your eyes water endlessly. Dave's story of survival is a remarkable one, & books like this one are important in shedding a light on the cruelties inflicted on children DAILY in our country. So many of us would love to believe that these don't happen...or that they happen "somewhere else," but they happen everyday...EVERY day....next door, down the street. Did you know that children die EVERY day in our country at the hands of child abuse? It is an epidemic of monstrous proportions, & books like Peltzer's shed a light on that epidemic...that plague. People don't like talking about this subject, but it is so vastly important that we do start talking about it....cut the monster's feet out from under him. Thank you to Peltzer & authors like him that write the painful words to share their painful stories to cause people to talk about the painful epidemic that is America's. (Did you know that more children die EVERY year in the hands of child abuse than the total number of people who died in 9-11 & Pearl Harbor combined? America must wage a war against child predators!)

Summary: Very Good!
Review: This story is the first story that I read that has ever made me cry. I think that this book reminds me of all the children out there that get abused everyday and nobody notices. This book is a real eye opener to all the people who abuse or get or have been abused in some way. Many people who have read this book have also enjoyed it. All of my friends who have recommended this book to me found out that I have already read it, more than once. They as well found out that I have read the sequal to it. I would recommend this book to someone who wants a book they can read that they cannot put down. Make sure you give your self plenty of time to read this book without interruptions!!!

Summary: I LIKED IT
Review: I enjoy books about people who survived what most of us could not. This book is similar to MY LAST REMAINS by Jill. She wrote about growing up with abusive mentally ill parents. In her case, she was not lucky enough to find people who wanted to rescue her. She tried to get help from sooial workers , but they screwed up and things got twisted. Jill had to save herself. The author uses her first name only, and does not go on book signings, the way Dave does. I liked both books.

Summary: a book you have to read
Review: Rating a "Child Called It", a 1-10 I would have to give it a 10. It is one of the best books I've ever read. It is a real live story and a very good book to read. I like this book because it is a true story and everything in the story that happened to the boy is true. So the story grabs you and puts you in the boys mind. I liked this book very much and it is a page turner. I would highly recommend this book, and any other book s written by this author.
A brief summery of the book is about a boy. He is not loved by his family and his mom is always drunk. His father doesn't really care about him either. The boy is harshly abused by his mom. She does everything to make his life miserable. Read this book and it will make you love your parents more and thank God for what his has blessed you with.
That is why I would recommend this book out of all the great books I have read in the past.
