Summary: Everyone who reads it, loves it.
Review: I bought this book about three weeks ago. My friends and I borrow each other's books, and trade back and forth. I lent it to one person who told people about it, who told people about it...I actually have a seven person waiting list to borrow this book!! Even one of my teachers has borrowed it. I bought it because it looked like an interesting book for a book report, but I bought the sequel, "The Lost Boy", because I really wanted to know what happened to Dave. I can't wait until the third book, "A man Named Dave" comes out. He's already gone through hell, and I want to know what he does now that he is his own person. All I hope is that I get a chance to finish it before someone asks to borrow it!

Summary: Inspiring and heart wrenching at the same time
Review: This book really shows what the human spirit can endure, even at such a young age. At the age of six this little boy was able to use his mind to get him through a horrible situation. Most poeple can't imagine being able to survive what this little boy did, and most people couldn't. This book is truly inspiring and really shows that the human spirit can endure all.

Summary: A book that made me so angry at the mother that did this.
Review: When I picked up this book I thought it would only delve into the " minor " or so I thought. It left me so angry at the parent that did this to this human being. Sometimes I just had to put the book down and take a deep breath. But I realized in order to enlighten my self and others I had to continue reading and filling my mind with these gross obsenities bestowed on this poor child. If I could I would have liked to put my arms around this child and tell him everything would be fine. But, by reading about the author it sounds like he has come out feeling good about himself and that is wonderful. I can hardly wait to read the next in the series. Summary: Books likes this one, changes our world and views
Review: Reading the book made me realize that books like this needed to read out loud and everywhere. I could not put it down till I read the last word. I believe that it shows how much we have change in the last 20 years. Some may not want to believe it but, I know it can. I was a Friend of child like him growing and trust me no adult saw what was going on. the book is a very useful tool to help children and adults to become aware of abuse. I would recommend it to anyone who would like to change the world, for understanding his (David) will and courage to live is to discover your own. You may not have lived his life, but the lesson here is that you can survive. David you have truly changed my life with these books.

Summary: What a trooper!
Review: I had a really difficult time reading this book. I kept flipping through the pages hoping to get past a really bad scene, but it was a continuous fight for this poor little guy. It's amazing how evil his parents were. I really wonder how a parent could do this to a child and I'd like to know if his parents are still alive today and if they feel any remorse for treating their child this way. David, I truly feel for you and I appreciate you telling your story. You've definately made an impression in my life. I hope life is treating you better than it did in the past. God Bless You!

Summary: Mesmerizing and Unbelievable!!
Review: I read both of "The Child Called It" and "The Lost Boy". I am waiting patiently for the third in the series. I am currently an elementary education major and I found both of the books to be a wonderful inlet to the world of some of my students. I learned about another side of the system which is often overlooked and forgot. I recommend the books to each and every person who plans on working with children in any way.

Summary: scarry to think that something like this is the actual truth
Review: when i found this book i could hardly put it down. i read the first 3 chapters in the store alone. it's just unimaginable to think that this stuff actually happend but it did. i commend david on all he is done. in my book david and all the people who helped him are saints. always wanting to be in social work myself i gave the book to a friend who looked upon the system as being "a family braker". he thought wrong afterwards. granded this book is hard to read. but just imagin having to live it. be greatful for what you have. i know i am. i tip my hat to you david. best of luck.

Summary: A story that my heart will never forget......
Review: Dave opened up a most private and terrifying part of his life.....one that he probably had to relive in order to tell his story. Why?.... to let all of us who have suffered know that we can and will survive, as well as to make us all aware of the terrible wrongs that are done to the innocent.... the children. Reading these books helped me in so many ways....I thank you, Dave. For those who deny the truth of this man's story.... I say, too bad that there are still those out there that will not, or cannot see the truth---that is how abusers get away with the monsterous things they do. Summary: heartbreaking, educational and thought-provoking
Review: It is impossible for me to call this book "great" or any other cheerful adjective. It was painful for me to read this book, but I did so in one sitting. I needed to be with David, as if my reading his story would somehow help him get through his day. It is beyond remarkable that a child could survive such heinous acts, and live a productive life. David Pelzer is a survivor whose story will never be forgotten by this reader.

Summary: Could not put it down
Review: this book is the best book i have ever read. his mother was very cruel to him and it is the most severe abuse i have ever heard of. what i am wondering, is why it was to only him? was he the middle child..or what? after reading this whenever my mother tells me to do something, i do it..because i know it is far more easier to do than David had to. in the beginning it says that you will feel his pain, and everything he is being put through. and that is VERY true. i could feel the hurt, and emotionally torn this boy was. to all you non-readers- BUY IT!
