Summary: You will definitely tear up!
Review: This is the most tear jerker book that I have read in my whole life. It is about a boy who's mother is an alcoholic and thinks that her youngest boy doesn't deserve anything. From enduring slapping, name calling, soiled clothes, and yes his mother stabbing him. Dave still manages to live through it all. I could not put this book down at all. You will definitely walk away a changed person inside. It is almost impossible to stop crying. This was truly a life changing book. Leaves you thinking an wondering what will happen next. Never a dull moment with this book. Well written indeed.

Summary: The best book ever.
Review: This book keeps you glued to the pages through the whole book, I read the book from start to finish the first day that I had it. By far the best book I have read in a long time. Great Job Dave you are a very brave man.

Summary: This book is a hoax!
Review: And Pelzer is a con-man, laughing his way to the bank. He's been exposed (I believe in the NY Times) as a liar and an exaggerator who buys his own books to trump up their value on the bestseller list. There is no way these things could have happened to him - look past the "horrors" and think for yourself!

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: Imagine living with and unstable mom, who is an alcholic... Getting beaten because she thinks everything you do is bad. Dave Pezler, who's the aurthor of the book wrote about his child hood growing up with his abusive mother. And about the love he had for his dad. Dave looked up to his father as a "hero". But then later his father couldn't stand all the things going wrong and moved out. That's when his mother started getting worse. She would brutaly beat him and torment him all the time. Some of the things she did was, she would put him in a cold bath and let him soak in there forever. She would also let his brother kick him and punch him. One time it got so bad that his mother ended up stabbing him and never took him to the hospital, becasue she use to be a nurse. He has no friends to turn to, or to talk to... But dave ended up surviving, and decided to come out and write about his abusive past. And for that i gave him five stars and if i could i would give him many more. For beeing so brave to write about living with an abusive and an alcholic mother.
The End

Summary: A Child Called It
Review: When I first started to read this I thought it was all make believe. This little boy had the most hope and faith anyone had ever seen. He was determined to get away from his mom that abused him. I loved this book because it had so much detail on what his mom did to him. Not many people survive to write a book about growing up mistreated. I recommend this book to anyone that likes to read appealing true stories.

Summary: Regarding other reviews
Review: I have read A CHILD CALLED IT,LOST BOY (David Pelzer) and NIGHTMARES ECHO (Katlyn Stewart)...I am in total agreement with the reviewers regarding these books. They are well written, low in sensationalism and get to the heart of the mayyer. Not only do you learn what it is like to be a child of abuse, but learn so many life lessons that these children as they grew into adults had to learn on thier own. I am in awe.

Summary: it changed my life
Review: forgiveness is hands-down the most difficult of human traits to exercise. dave pelzer has enabled me to open up my heart and mind; to unburden myself of issues that, while phenomenally trivial in comparison to his, have weighed me down and clouded my vision. thanks, dave.

Summary: A TOWERING SOUL CANNOT BE BROKEN
Review: I began with A CHILD CALLED IT and could not put it down. I finished it in one evening and immediately ran out to the book store to purchase THE LOST BOY and a MAN CALLED DAVE. I inhaled the two following books in 3 days. I have never been touched by books as I have by Pelzer's. He takes you through a journey of pain, strength and hope that we rarely encounter in a book. Whether you have ever experienced disappointment, pain or blame by your parents, partner, friends, siblings or life, you will be able to connect to Pelzer's words. The pages of this book will leave you with a lingering sense of power, hope and renewed respect for the human soul and it resilience. Although a boy called it is very sad it is the beginning of a must read trilogy. I cannot imagine just reading the first book. As Pelzer childhood unfolds you want to know more, understand his mother and how she could have done what she did. How his father could have. stood by and allowed it. Finally, how Dave endured, survived and flourished. A must read but be prepared to continue with the entire trilogy

Summary: Sad and overwhelming
Review: This is so sad how can a mother who had her child after all that pain and jus t act as though hes not even hers she calls him an it we went through a tremendous ride trough his survival of the fittest through to the 1st to 5th grade how can a sweet loving mother change into the wicked old witch that shows you should never take what you have for advantage but it was a great stroy and i recommend this book to everyone who loves a story that makes you think about the future, the present and the past.
