Rating: Summary: Dave Pelzer......a true survivor! Review: An outstanding book - that lets you aware of the capibilities of anyone....ever your own mother. I weeped through this book. It was GREAT. I am looking forward to many more.
Rating: Summary: OUTRAGOUS Review: All that comes to mind when I think about this book is why. My mom gave me the book to read at work. I started it when I got there and was finished before I left. The next night I read The lost boy. Why did somebody not do anything sooner? I feel that this book should be required material for high school college english. Make everyone read it and open a few closed eyes out there.
Rating: Summary: Hard to put down, a must read! Review: I, like David was an abused child, but mine was my father. What I searched for through-out this book but never found was a reason for the abuse. He touched on her hatred for him numerous times but never clearly explained why the 180 degree turn in her attitude and why he was the chosen victim. As an abused child, I kept searching for reasons why my dad treated me like he did. It took him dying from a brain tumor to at least give me some kind of a reason for his actions, or at least, that is the reason my mind has given me for the suffering my dad put me through. The writing and visuals were gripping enough for me to recommend this book to others, but without a reason or explanation for why she did it and why his dad, a lifesaver by trade would not come to his rescue confuse me and do not give the book justice. I will read the next book only because I hope David explains why he was treated the way he was and hopefully tell further if he ever saw his mother again and what became of that encounter. But if anyone out there has been lucky enough to not experience what David went through, read this book because it happens, and it happens a lot!
Rating: Summary: This book is absolutly heart-breaking!!! Review: I was 14 years old when I read this book and it broke my heart to see that there is kids out there whose parents treat them that way. I would reccommend this book to anyone of the right age to understand real-life problems like this.
Rating: Summary: Best book I've read in a long time Review: I am reading the trilogy. These books are the best I've read. Makes ya think Good book for the whole family to read show it to kids who dont appreciate what they have :)
Rating: Summary: absolutely incredible story.. Review: I have to honestly say that I am not a person who enjoys sitting and reading a book. However, my family had told me about this book and I started to read it and didnt put it down until I reached the back cover. I have also read "The Lost Boy" and with the same results. I have passed this book on to many, many friends and all have come back to me with the same reviews. What a remarkable man. I hope that in the very near future Dave Pelzer travels in our direction with one of his seminars. Unfortunately I have missed him on several different talk shows that he has made appearances on. I have tried endless different areas on the internet to obtain information about him to no avail. If there is anymore information available to me I would greatly appreciate it if you can send it.
Rating: Summary: Very well written and just a good book. Review: This book was very good. It told how a young boy can overcome his troubles with an alcoholic father and a mother who doesn't care about him as much as his brothers.
Rating: Summary: Very good Review: It's a very good book, but disturbing. I had heard about it and picked it up to glance at it while I was in Wal-Mart. I ended up reading the entire book - sobbing through most of it. Needless to say I got several weird looks. I reccomend it. Because it shows, to me at least, how that if someone's strong enough they can survive anything. I really respect and admire Dave Pelzer for being able to tell his story.
Rating: Summary: I thought this book was great Review: This book is about the boy Dave Pelzer from his birth to the age of 12. It talks about the abuse he went through as a child, and what his mom did to him. SHe was an evil woman, and an alcoholic. She would lock David in a room with a bucket of bleach and ammonia mixed, which if u don't know it makes a very poisoness gas. I thought this was a great book, but very sad. It was tragic to find out what this lady would do to her son and still consider herself his mother. I would recommend this book to everyone to see what could be going on right under their noses.
Rating: Summary: You just want to hold them tight and say I love you. Review: I was so upset that someone would bring a gift of god into this world and treat it the way David mother did, I just read and cried. It just makes you want to hold them and let them know that it will never happen again, but we all know that it will, and it is so very sad. But the book was very well written it just put you right into his own world and you could just feel the pain and sadness.
