Rating: Summary: I read this book in one night! Review: I read this book in one night. I could not put it down. Everyday of this child's life was a lesson in survival. I stand amazed the he could have lived with such horror and survived. God bless you David Pelzer may you have all the best that life can offer. You deserve it.
Rating: Summary: reality check Review: this book made me realize how wide-spread the problem is in america. it also shows how easily people turn their heads. there is so much we can do for these kids, and yet we dont. it is a shame that the world has gotten so big, that we cant look after the children anymore. i find it very inspiring that this man went on to write books about his story, and i think the books are great. it was very sad, and sometimes the detail of the events were hard to accept, but very good.
Rating: Summary: VERY SAD AND UNBELIEVABLE Review: This is a very interesting book. I bought this book and read it from front to back the same night. I couldn't believe that a mother could be so CRUEL to her own child. It really makes you feel lucky even if you didn't have a perfedt life. Definitly a MUST READ.
Rating: Summary: YOU MUST READ THIS BOOK Review: There are a few things one must do in thier life. Reading Dave Pelzers books is one of them! He writes this story of abuse with such an eye of a child you forget he is now a grown man. If you ever felt sorry for your self you wont after reading this book. It will open your eyes to the ills of America and MOTIVATE you to do something!!BUY THIS BOOK READ IT ANd TELL YOUR FRIENDS THE SAME!!!!
Rating: Summary: I remember you, Dave. Review: Terrific, Dave. I think of you often, came across your story in Chicken Soup then bought your book, of course! You've made my career as a teacher and counselor.People like you are what it's all about. John Barrelier,Parkside (ret.)
Rating: Summary: Heart Wrenching Review: It is hard to believe that a mother could treat her child the way that Dave's mother treated him. A real eye opener to child abuse. I just wanted to hug and keep him safe. Thank you Dave for sharing your story. You have touched the hearts of many.
Rating: Summary: very heartbreaking and terrifying Review: As soon as I read the first word I couldn't put it down. It was so hard to believe that a mother could treat anyone so horribly especially a member of her own family, her son. What's even more amazing was that this little boy could find the courage to survive and continue living. I found her to be a very cold hearted, manipulative (excuse my language) bitch. I think Dave Pelzer is a very strong willed person and can't wait to read the sequel.
Rating: Summary: This is the most heart-wrenching story I've ever read. Review: I can't believe that one child could endure such pain and agony from the very person who created him. This young boy has went through more pain and suffering than I have ever heard or seen. This is definitely the worst case of child abuse I have ever read. David's mother was the most evil person to have done the cruelest thing to her innocent child. I want to thank David for sharing this heart-wrenching story with the world. I truly commend him for his courage and determination.
Rating: Summary: I find this book a very interesting. Review: I am only into the third chapter. How a situation like this can go un noticed for so long. I understand that at that time child abuse was not aknowlaged. Sad that this boy had to suffer so. Do we as parents see alittle of ourselve in here?
Rating: Summary: Absolutely gut wrenching and inspirational! Review: I just finished reading David's story, and although I read it through my tears I couldn't put it down. As a recovering person myself his courage to keep faith in God is just so utterly inspiring, it's beyond words. Thank you for shareing your journey of darkness into light. It's deeply touched my soul.
