Review: I think this book has a great look on how the people out there in the world are willing to reach out and help.
I believe the the autor put a lot of effort and time in this book to make it worth while.Dave Pelzer is a inspiration to me and life in foster care that my daughter is living.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: I was just starting Junior High when my friend had brought this novel to school. At first I thought, what child would be named "It". This novel caught my eyes. It was very surprising and shocking. Reading about an 8year old little boy in which with details explain his childhood. David explains all the hard times he went through and how his father and brothers did absolutely nothing as they witness the beaten that he receive from his mother. At times his mother would make him strip down to no clothes and place him in the cold showers. She once smashed his face into a mirror that was hanging on the bathroom wall. As I went along reading this book my eyes would get watery but the passion of wanting to know how this story was going to end was what motivated me to finish the book. Throughout this story David grows from a confused frustrated young child into a struggling young adult with horrible memories. This book motivated me a lot and I suggest this book should be read. It's a great book that expresses and shows that many children in life suffer from their own parents and that's one of the main causes why children grow up traumatized.

Review: EVERONE should read all of the David Pelzer series of books, especially A CHILD CALLED IT. With that read NIGHTMARES ECHO and BASTARD OUT OF CAROLINA...excellent reading materials to teach,see what is happening in our everyday lives. David Pelzer is an excellent author...

Summary: Horrible, devastating--a must read
Review: This book kept me up at night. I'll admit, I was skeptical at first with so many "look at me, I hurt" books out there. But this one is truly different. This one packs a punch. What a horrible story of child abuse. It's hard to imagine that parents could do this to their children. There are some simliar books, equally horrifying, out there too: Sybil comes to mind, and McCrae's Bark of the Dogwood, though the latter is extremely funny as well as disturbing. A Child Called It, along with Lost Boy, are books everyone should read. They're not for those without a strong stomach, though. Highly recommended and five stars.

Summary: A Child Called "It"
Review: I am a tenth grade student and I picked this book out to read for a report. I could barely finish it. I don't understand ONE BIT how a mother could do that to thier own child. Every detail in the book was absolutely disgusting. The book was good and well-written, but what Dave's mother did to him was revolting and sick. I almost threw up. I don't know how he ever survived. This book made me count my blessings and feel lucky that I have a mother and a father and a brother to love me.

Review: This is an amazing book. No its not fantasy,not Sci-Fi...this in fact is the truth and how this child lived. It is a terrible way for a child to have to live. A terrible look at what goes on around us on a daily basis, and yet know one seems to pay attention until the media gets a hold of the story. This is a must read Memoir.

Summary: This book keeps you reading for more!
Review: This book was about a boy who got abused and his hope to survive. It tells you the hardship that Dave, the young boy who got abused, had to go through. Also this book is like a journal of his life and how he was abused. You probably conclude that Dave gets referred to as an "it" and not a human being. When you read this book it will really open your eyes about child abuse. It helps you understand how bad child abuse is and it tells you how much it hurt him physically and mentally. Dave has a few brothers, but they do not get abused like he does from his alcoholic parents.
I liked how this book told me about how abused children think of their life. Another thing I liked is it keeps you wondering if he is going to die from all the bad things he has to do.
One thing I didn't like was that the book built up the end, but then just left you wondering about how he ended up.

Review: A Child Called It
By: Dave Pelzer Summary: A Child Called It was about a boy who has a really terrible life. His parents treat him so bad that they called him it. In this life he goes through all kinds of different hardships and has a troubled life. He learns how to cope with it and give himself the courage and confidence to stay alive.
What I liked about this book: The things I liked about this book are things that deal and cope with real life situations. It lets you know and makes you think about all the kids out in this world today that are really going through the same life style the boy in the story A Child Called It went through. What I didn't like about this book: Over all the book was alright. There were some downfalls to the book thought. At many times the book was boring and you just new what was going to happen next. I like exciting books and books that are going to keep me interested and this just wasn't one of them books. Any books like A Child Called It: I don't really read that often so I would not no if there are any books like this one. I haven't heard of anyone talk about a book similar but i'm not sure there might just be one out there!

Summary: A Child and how he Survived
Review: A Child Called It is a story of Dave Pelzer's life of how he survived living through child abuse, how he was hurt, and how he had the strength to last in his world of torment. He was the third child, and he was treated the worst. He had to live in a world of torment from his mother. Could you imagine your brothers disowning you, and they treating you like nothing? His mother treated Dave like he was nothing in the world the worst thing in the world. He had nothing to sleep on except a cloth in the garage at his house. He had nothing in the world except his father. He thought his father was his hero; his father was going to save him except the father was afraid of his mother. So much so hero's.
I like this book because it had very excruciating details about what happened to Pelzer. I also liked this book because it changed the way I look at child abuse. I used to think of child abuse as your mom slapped you for not behaving but now I have read this book, and I understand the meaning of child abuse. I think what I have learned since I have read this book is that child abuse is wrong and you shouldn't do it because it can hurt some one, not only physically but mentally and now what I think of child abuse as you are constantly hitting this child, and never feeding him or her. Pelzer's case is one of the worse child abuse cases in California history yet Pelzer kept on pushing himself to survive because he wanted to show his mom how much he had felt over the years. He was going to live through the whole thing, and see his way out, and proves her wrong because the only thing that will make her really angry is showing her that Dave survived.
I think this book is a very good book and I encourage you to read this book.

Summary: Simply Amazing
Review: David's story of a childs amazing will to live is the most heartwrenching tale imaginable. I could not put this book down until the last page was turned. As my own emotions masked that of the child inside those pages, I wept, I had hope, and even dispair as I was taken into the life of this amazing child. A must have!
