Review: I was so excited to read this book but got it on tape instead. After devouring the tapes I gave them to my Mom who lost her mother and her sister bought the book and gave it to her as well. We hope it will help her deal with my grandmothers death better and maybe get a sitting someday. Any place I can get a list of his tour stops?

Summary: A must read for anyone in grief over the loss of a loved one
Review: Talking to Heaven, greatly helped me accept the recent death of my 101 year old father. After only 4 months, I had a need to "know" that he was alright, and that he indeed is still with me in spirit.

In this book not only did I find comfort in reading the experiences the author relays, but also learned that I had no skepticism at all. This book holds the reader's interest, while gently easing you into the spiritual realm. I was compelled to read the "how to" chapters near the end, to prepare for my own "contact" with my dad. An event that occurred shortly thereafter.

The greatest compliment I can give the author is: "I was searching for comfort and found it in the pages of this book". This is a must read for anyone in any stage of grief over the loss of a loved one. It speaks directly to your soul.

Summary: VERY BELIEVABLEY REAL AND TOUCHING
Review: I THINK THE BOOK REALLY CREDITS MR. VAN PRAAGH HONESTY. HE HAS TOUCHED THE LIVES OF MANY WITH THE GIFT THAT HE HAS DEVELOPED OVER TIME. IF HE WAS A PHONEY HOW COULD HE CONVINCE SOOO MANY PEOPLE THAT THEIR LOVED ONES ARE ALIVE AND WITH THEM. HE TELLS THEM THINGS ONLY THE SOUL AND THE PERSON KNOW. HE HAS HIS MISSES BUT NOTHING IN THIS WORLD OR THE NEXT IS 100%. THAT YOU CAN'T DENY. HE BRINGS PEACE TO THOSE WHO SEEK HIM AND ANSWERS NAGGING QUESTIONS TO THOSE WHO ASK. IN A WORLD FULL OF DISARRAY I FEEL THIS BOOK IS A BREATH OF FRESH AIR.

Summary: Nothing New Under the Sun
Review: "Talking to Heaven" is a disappointing book. It is essentially just one more mediocre book in this highly popular genre. For those who have no exposure to the concept of life after death, it is all right as a very basic introduction, but for those who have explored the topic and want something more than just basics, it's one of those 'been there, read that' books. It doesn't giver very many case histories, and there are no revelations, earth-shattering or otherwise. It left this reader wondering what purpose the writer had, other than self-promotion (he's for hire, folks).

Summary: Spiritually Moving
Review: I feel that this book has brought a new realization about death and the fear of death. I have lost a loved one, and it helped me to realize the importance of knowing that they are always in your live and that they are happy. I also helped me to lose my fears that were beginning to become my reality. I think this book is very touching and that anyone who has ever lose someone should read it. It will open new doors to life. This man has a special gift, and I am glad to know he is using it to help others.

Summary: Mr. Van Praagh needs to rewrite chapter two
Review: Mr, Van Praagh is a very gifted medium and it is wonderful he has helped a lot of people but he has some inaccuraries in his book, I am suprised the editor allowed these things to pass. In chapter two the Gift, Mr. Van Praagh explains that everything is made of energy, a true statment. Then he proceeds to write "in simple terms, energy is made of molecules rotating or vibrating at various rates of speed" That isn't entirely correct. Everything in nature is not made up of molecular energry. Electricity is not molecular and that is a form of energy. Kinectic energy which is another form of energy. It is associated with anything moving at nonrelativistic speeds to one half of the product of its mass and the aware of its speed. There is also potential energy and rest energy should I go on? I do believe Mr. Van Praagh is talking about molecular energy. Mr. Van Praagh needs to have the basic scientific facts explained to him in "simple terms"(quoting him from his book). Energy is not molecules. Energy does bind molecules. Molecules move through energy. Within molecules elementary particles called atoms rotate or spin(a better term). Mr. Van Praagh also claims"everything in our phyiscal world vibrates at a constant speed", it's partially true, he forgets to mention random speed. Constant speed and random speed both exist in the phyiscal world. Then he writes 'the slower the speed the more dense or solid the thing, for example the chair.."etc. He is wrong because energies bind solid forms, chairs, houses and our physical bodies. Unless your are talking about the speed of physical objects than kinetic energy is applied. Mr. Van Praagh feels glossing over basic sciencitific facts strengthens his theories and gives proof of the paranormal world. The first page of this chapter is very misleading. Mr. Van Praagh and his editor need to sit down and rewrite some chapters. In the mean time I want a full refund. I bought the book because I think Mr. Van Praagh is a very talented medium. If he is on the New York Times best seller list for non fiction than I expect to be reading non fiction. I think Mr. Van praagh could have writtten a first book on his life, his work and his gift. the second book could have all the fact finding information, theories and showing people how to tap into their psychic potentials.

Summary: Interesting and uplifting for the most part.
Review: I have seen the author on Larry King and Oprah. I read the book and found it very interesting; however, I regret that he found it necessary to write such a diatribe against the Catholic Church in his book. I found it disingenuous for him to be angry that adults did not answer his questions about a complex faith when he was 7 or 10 years old with the answers he understands as an adult. That's like expecting a 7 or 10 year old to understand calculus when he doesn't yet know how to add or subtract. I personally reject his strategy that we are reincarnated. I was amazed at his ability to tell people intimate details about their loved ones and hope that the dead are indeed as happy as he tells us they are.

Summary: Helped me find what I was missing in my life!
Review: For as long as I can remember, I always questioned who is God? I had all the same questions that never got answered. When I was 14, I stopped my cousin from getting in a car with her boyfriend, cuz of a " Feeling I had " an hour later we get a phone call that her boyfriend was in a fatal car accident and was in a coma, he died 3 days later! In August of 93' I had a dream that my brother died, I dreamed that I did not have a dress to wear and my sister let me borrow a black dress with tiny yellow flowers. We then went to the funeral parlor and as I walked I noiced two double doors, then two more double doors inside, my husband pushed the small of my back and told me to go inside. I was afraid! Once inside I walked up to the casket and saw my brother inside. Then he turned his head and opened his eyes!! He was no longer my brother it was my daddy!! he told me " You have to be strong!" Then I woke up crying. That night I got a phone call that my daddy had passed away early in the morning!! Whats even more amazing, is that my husband and I flew home for the funeral, in our haste we didnt pack well, I didnt have a dress to wear for the funeral, my sister who I hadnt seen in 4 years, pulls out a black dress with tiny yellow flowers for me to wear, and at the funeral parlor the two sets of double doors were there!! I tell about these incidents, because they have always bothered me, there are more, and I always wondered why me? Is it because my lack in faith of the religion I'm supose to believe in? I always belived that God, was not a person, but an energy. Dont ask me why I just always " knew in my heart " I have studied many religions, hoping to find one that answered all my questions, and with each new religion I became more confused, so I never persused to become part of any religion, yet never knowing what I believed was right. My friend, told me to read this book and I was like, wow!! thats what I think! Wow! I ALWAYS thought that too! and so on... This book helped me understand not to be affraid of the dreams or hunches I get, it taught me to accept that yes " My father spoke to me before or after he died, preparing me to be strong, I BELIEVE THAT IS, BECAUSE I KNOW IT IS TRUE!!!! I want to finish by saying that we all have the power within us, the ones who choose to ignore it will never know it, those of us who have felt it, no longer need to be affraid or confused after reading this book!!!! Thank you!!!!
