Summary: A Compelling Case For Christ
Review: Strobel makes a strong and profound case that Jesus Christ is the Son of God. By basing his book on literary fact and historical data, Strobel allows for the existence of Jesus Christ and his deity to be explored without relying on the "gift of faith." Strobel's personal testimony brought tears to my eyes. How can a man who sought to disprove Christianity at the beginning of his book become a man who loves and trust Jesus Christ, the Son of God. It simple, the facts in this book point towards Christ's deity and are well-supported. Then you factor in God (as Strobel puts it: believe + receive = become) and you have the Christian-Lee Strobel. Strobel makes a convincing argument that Christ, the man, existed and walked the earth by interviewing scholars who are world renown for their vast knowledge on the historical records of Christianity. I encourage Christians and non-Christians alike to read this book. For the Christian, like myself, it further strengthens your faith and trust in Jesus Christ. For the non-Christian it might just change your life, just like Lee Strobel's life was.

Summary: AWESOME BOOK, AWESOME BOOK, AWESOME BOOK!
Review: This book is so incredible. I never thought that I could learn so much and grow in my faith so much by reading a book that isn't the Bible. This book proves that Jesus was here and that He is the Son of God. To any athiests or non christians, I challenge you to read this book and have it not change your thoughts at all. I can't' see that ever happening. This book it just so incredibly awesome!

Summary: "I think" is not a proof!
Review: This book takes a lot of things in blind faith. There is little actual evidence besides other Christians saying "I think this". The only thing that Strobel truly proves is that Jesus was truly killed during the crucifixion! Not exactly mind blowing ideas there.

Summary: Don't trust any reviews that are less than 5 stars
Review: This book is excellent. It is written in a excellent, professional style of writing. He asked very good questions with even better answers. I would recommed this book to Christians and Non-Christians alike. If you don't belive in Christ you might after you finish this book. Truly a masterpiece.

Summary: smart christianity
Review: strobel's book is interesting and compelling. it presents a well-thought-out and well-documented defense of christianity. the case for christ is helpful in establishing that christianity can in fact be intellectual. this book is valuable for a seeker, atheist/agnostic, and christian alike in demonstrating this. and, where strobel stops, other "intelligent Christians" (no it's not an oxymoron) pick up the slack.

Summary: This book helped me to find Christ after many years seeking.
Review: Someone recently (early December of '99) asked whether anyone's beliefs were actually swayed by this book. Mine were, when I read the book last year about this time. I had been an atheist/agnostic for over ten years - and had been seeking God off and on throughout that time. Though I worked at a bookstore and was daily exposed to a large "Religion Section," I never found books that satisfactorily addressed my questions and objections. It was not until I met a devout Christian man through recreational tennis that, by his recommendation, I found this book. Certainly "The Case for Christ" will not answer all of your questions and objections, but, as someone else here stated, it is a very good starting point for an evidential basis to come to faith. Read this book; let yourself be overwhelmed by the evidence. Continue to pursue the answers to your questions. You will come to the point, I believe, at which Christianity becomes the only sensible path. But you will find that taking that path requires a leap of faith. If the evidence were absolutely irrefutable, we would effectively be coerced by God to believe in and worship him. That's not what life is about. It's about challenges and the gift of free will that allows us to accept or reject the evidence God has given us. The other books that helped me to find Jesus Christ are: "Mere Christianity" by C.S. Lewis, "Can Man Live Without God?" by Ravi Zacharias (largely about the absurdity of regarding truth as a relative commodity), "Darwin on Trial" by Philip Johnson, and "The Science of God" by Gerald L. Schroeder. And by the by, "Mere Christianity" did not have near the impact on me it now has when I first read it before I became a believer.

Summary: almost enough.
Review: I am not a Christian and I consider myself very skeptical when it come to matters of faith, God or evolution. This book was forced on me a couple weeks ago and I just decided to pick it up last last night and I was blown away. The arguments in the book were very compelling. The reasoning in some of the sections I found to be kind of thin, but in others I don't see how anyone could rationally see it any other way. I had actually been searching for answers as to the existance of a god,but now the search seems to be narrowing. This book has, for me, opened a case I had long thought closed. I require further information and I was wondering if anyone could email me and recommend a good study bible for a skeptic? like myself.

Summary: Compelling evidence for Christians and non-Christians
Review: Lee Strobel is workmanlike in his investigation outlined in The Case For Christ. At times, the details are painstaking, even for a Christian like myself, but just as in any criminal trial, Strobel lays the foundation for a very compelling argument on the existence and deity of Jesus Christ. In all honesty, at times the details get to be too much, but a few chapters in particular got my attention. The final chapter on circumstantial evidence was particularly interesting, as were the chapters on how old testament prophecy was fulfilled and on the medical aspects of the crucifixion. The medical chapter in particular is very dramatic as it describes the tremendous suffering Jesus endured. If you believe Jesus to be the Son of Man or not, human compassion forces you to feel shame as the Romans torture an innocent man. For Christians, the book reaffirms their beliefs. For those on the fence, hopefully it brings you closer to God. And, for those who don't believe in Jesus and the resurrection, hopefully it forces you to rethink your position and at the very least search further for information. I definitely recommend this book to all.

Summary: Great book, don't buy the audio version
Review: First, don't think of this book as the end-all, be-all of apologetic analysis on Jesus. Think of it as a great starting point on your road to the truth. And it is reasonably objective. He has annotated reasonably well, and so his lists of books are useful. He lists the Jesus Seminar titles just as often as he lists the titles in favor of his defense. In this way, I don't see that he has hidden anything. At any rate. I read the book, then listened to the audio tapes. Don't buy the cassettes until they bring them out in an unabridged version. They gloss over way too much material and make it seem as if too many conclusions were wrought without evidence. Lee, if you read this, please go back to Zondervan and tell them you want an unabridged version done, simply because this book is going to be in print for years and Christian publishers can't afford to skimp on the production of their audio editions. It could mean the difference in an eternity for many people.P.S. ‹ If you are planning on using this book for evangelism you might also like Strobel's Inside the Mind of Unchurched Harry and Mary.

Summary: 'Case' is a Classic
Review: Strobel's powerful arguments make such a strong case for Christ that his book reminds me of C.S. Lewis' masterpiece, 'Mere Christianity.' This is a must read for anybody open to finding life-changing answers that make sense.
