Summary: an important book for anyone struggling with the psychic
Review: This book was both riveting and informative. I am a health care professional and have been struggling with the unexpected development of my own meager psychic skills. A few years ago I started developing what Dr. Orloff refers to as psychic empathy and some refer to as clarsentience. In the beginning I was confused and thought there must be something wrong with me. I had a strong science background and no belief in the psychic. It took several years before I understood what was happening to me but the knowledge came as a great relief. My experiences have recently been increasing in frequency and intensity and a friend recommended Dr. Orloff's book to me. Second Sight gave me a better understanding of these experiences as well as tips on how to handle them. It also was incredibly helpful to hear how Dr. Orloff struggled with her gifts as a physcian. I admire her ability to incorporate her gifts into Western medicine!

Summary: An enlightening blend of education and entertainment!
Review: 'Second Sight' gave me a second wind in my
spirituality and psychic work. Prior to reading this
book, I had the privilege of attending one of Dr.
Judith Orloff's speaking engagements. Watching her
communicate with the audience was to observe a dance
of heart meeting hearts, soul meeting souls, and
paradigms shifting. I could feel her taking the entire
crowd with her, on a journey to a higher vibration of
understanding. "Second Sight" is a beautifully written illustration
of the same power Dr. Orloff reflected that afternoon.
In this book, she elegantly unveils the magic of the
intuition through many real life examples drawn from
her own unique experiences as well as the experiences
of those who have touched her life. At the same time,
she de-mystifies the psychic world by ironing out many
general misconceptions relating to the psychic, and
places it all into a perspective that is easily
digested by the mind. Her passion for the spirit, authenticity, and dedication to her life's work, are, to me, some of the
brightest threads in the tapestry of Dr. Orloff's
character. She writes with a humble, heart centered
approach, which adds to the fluidity of the book and
the ease with which it reads. Above and beyond all, I find her to be an extremely trustworthy guide on this
adventure of intuitive self discovery. Her story is
very empowering, there is much that can be taken from
it and applied to one's own life path. I am now very enthusiastic about reading her next book, 'Dr. Judith
Orloff's Guide to Intuitive Healing!'

Summary: Beautifully stated clear and simple truth
Review: I first read "Second Sight" when it was a new publication, and enjoyed hearing Judith Orloff's story, but didn't relate to it personally. After all, she was BORN psychic. I wished I had her gifts, but wishing that I was "more psychic" was about all I got from reading it. I re-read the book this week, and suddenly her remarkable story is much more than an interesting read. I have had 3 dreams, all of which gave me clear insights this week. I could have had the same dreams last week, and would have missed the meaning. Her description of how to support psychic, how to listen for it, how to allow instead of force, and what makes it so difficult to hear is all so brilliantly described because she tells it so simply and clearly. No great, deep and mysterious secrets. No elaborate and convoluted explanations. No need to study under a guru - unless that happens to call you. No need to be BORN psychic. The overlying message of all the chapters is re-claiming the spiritual/psychic side of you is a choice anyone can make. It's okay if you would rather not. It's just a choice - like whether you prefer travel or staying in one place. And if you do choose to consciously make this part of your life, you can have it. Your intuitive awareness will absolutely grow. There is nothing unusual about living life with a constant companion of psychic awareness - and it isn't a gift for only a chosen few. Judith Orloff makes the case for this basic human right so simply that it is easy to overlook how important her message is. If you sense something just out of reach in your life - or have some sort of nagging hole in your existence you haven't put your finger on - I highly recommend this book.

Summary: Second Sight - First Rate
Review: I have just finished reading Second Sight and found that each page was evidence of the love and intuitiveness embodied in the author. It is most impressive in terms of everyday practicality without an air of "more enlightened than thou" that often pervades similar writers. I felt blessed and honored to have encountered this piece of beauty.

Summary: Warm, funny, intimate and inspiring - the book and author!
Review: If you are at all interested in the psychic or just like inspiring autobiographies, you may find this book impossible to put down. Dr.Orloff's wonderful book is compelling, funny, and intimate. In a series of flashbacks, we travel with her from her days as a sensitive child who worries herself and her parents with her psychic flashes to her successful blending of a psychotherapy practice with her intuitive/psychic gifts. Don't let the "Dr." put you off - this is no preachy or scholarly dissertation. In fact, Dr. Orloff talks about her shock and dismay when during her medical training and residency, "psychic" is equated with "psychotic." After reading this book, you may think more kindly of the profession - at least the way Dr. Orloff practices. (I certainly do.) More than this, the author's loving and kind spirit shine through her words with brilliant clarity. She holds nothing back as she talks about the fears and rejections she suffered due to her remarkable abilities. You feel her joy as she begins to accept and use her gifts to make her relationships more loving and to help heal her patients. She also has wonderful stories about some very famous friends... Most of all, this book will inspire you to look at those "coincidences" in your own life in a different way. I feel better each time I read this book; it's the kind of book you want to share and to keep. Oh yes - there is one more gift that Dr. Judith Orloff possesses; she writes so beautifully that you are not aware of the writing, just the story and the uplifting message. If I didn't say it enough - she's very funny, too. Yes!

Summary: Articulate and memorable work - couldn't put it down
Review: I read this book at least 5 years ago.... and I still remember parts of it vividly. Judith is so articulate in her descriptions, so very intelligent and sensitive, so spiritually attuned to life around her.
All I can say is that Second Sight was so impressive. A friend of mine lent me the book. When I read the title, I made a face. I mean come on, a book written by an intuitive psychiatrist. Well, I was so impressed that I made a note of this author and years later, I decided that I just had to have this book in my library of spiritual reading. I am ready to read it for the second time now. I remember vividly Judith's descriptions of her interactions with nature, her feelings towards her parents, her often painful self discovery, her opinions and feelings about life after death ( this I think was most memorable). I truly recommend this book to anyone who wants to learn more about how becoming more spiritually oriented can help your life daily.

Summary: A Must Read!!
Review: This book and the work of Judith Orloff has been instrumental in changing my life. She is able to talk about developing one's intuition in practical, grounded ways and provides exercises that work! She de-mystifies the intuitive realm allowing one to become mystified :-) I have read this book several times and each time I gain something from it. It provides a basic understanding of the intuitive realm and gives the reader faith that anyone can cultivate their intuitive abilities. This book and Judith's work has changed my life for the better. I began with some sporadic intuitive events and with the help of this and her second book I now have fine tuned my abilities to the point where I can't imagine living my life without the guidance and protection my intuition offers. Thanks Judith!! Please write more books!!!!!

Summary: Touching, Open-Minded and Eloquently Written
Review: Dr. Judith Orloff's Second Sight is an incredibly helpful book for those of us trying to get in touch with our most spiritual selves. I found this book enlightening and very helpful in following my spiritual path. It is so refreshing to read a book by someone so educated, yet has continued to keep their mind open to all aspects of living. Her ability to express her views without saying one should live life a certain way is inspiring. Thank you Dr. Orloff for writing this book and I look forward to reading more from you in the future.

Summary: This isn't FOO FOO New Age Baloney
Review: I have just recently discovered Dr. Orloff and her ideas and concepts. The book is well written and entertaining and teaches you techniques all at the same time. Dr. Orloff takes you into her life, you feel all the emotions she felt. I cried like a baby in several places, wishing I had known how to do intuitive healing in helping my sick relatives die. I just hope that the word gets out in the medical world that it's ok to feel and act upon intuition as well as use modern technological medical techniques. It can and does work together. This book is a real eye opener, and a must read for anyone interested in wellness of any kind.

Review: The world of psychology and psychiatry categorize intuition or psychic abilities as a mental illness. Dr. Orloff's book Second Sight does a wonderful job demonstrating that we ALL have these innate abilities within our reach. Therefore, the major question is.....Do you have the courage to uncover your own? I highly recommend this book to all professionals in the field of psychology, psychiatry and social work. I promise you will never look at the DSM the same again.
