Summary: Whole-brain medicine is possible
Review: Dr Orloff's "Second Sight" provides an example of a whole-brain view of reality. As a medical doctor she is courageous to admit that she has the ability of clairvoyance. She does not care what her peer psychiatricians think about her. She tell readers her story as both a scientist and a psychic person. In her practice, she combines her psychiatric knowledge with her intuitive or psychic gift. She uses both sides of her brain.
I practiced medicine in China for more than 15 years. I also interested in physics and psychology. I have rather strong power of intuition. Scientific materialism and reductionism in life sciences are not convincing to me. I believe that the dominant paradigm, based on the five-sensory perceptions, is not complete, because among other things, it fails to explain the psychic phenomena, including the second sight descibed in Dr Orloff's wonderful book. I strongly suggest you to read this book if you still curious about the world, about the capacity of human consciousness. This is a well written book presenting only facts, not religion, not metaphysics. Scientific materialism is a left-brain world view, which ignores intuition and all psychic phenomena. Dr Orloff's book demonstrates that a whole-brain world view is in need and a whole-brain medicine is possible.

Summary: Well-conceived, well-written--an inspiring tale of intuition
Review: I learned of Dr. Orloff from a radio interview, and I bought both of her books immediately (the other being Intuitive Healing). I recently finished Second Sight, and I must commend Dr. Orloff on putting out an excellent practical guide to trusting our intuition. I tend to be on the critical side of books of this nature, but this was an outstanding work (in my opinion).The book uses a compelling structure where Dr. Orloff begins her tale at the breaking point in her professional career where she decides to intergrate her intuitive skills with her professional psychiatric practice. From there, she leads the reader on a very personal journey where she dealt with her abilities, and there is a very touching chapter where she comes to a greater understanding of her family (particularly her mother and grandmother's intuitive abilities). She completes the cycle by showing ways to apply intuitive reasoning into everyday life, Dr. Orloff avoids the normal cliches and makes the skills applicable to most readers. I really enjoyed her writing style and the structure of the writing. Dr. Orloff's suggestion of keeping a dream journal is something I have always balked on, but her stories reinforced the practical value of this. I have started doing this daily ritual, and it has already provided valuable insight into my daily challenges. I would highly recommend Dr. Orloff's work, and I look forward to her next book (hint hint).

Summary: Second Sight
Review: I am an avid thrift shopper, who loves to read. I have been a fan of many intuitives,but not always aware of who or what is out there. When I found Judith's book, Second Sight on the shelf of a neighborhood thrift store, I was without my glasses. I saw an intro by Deepok Chopra, who love and respect and bought it for my trip to Hawaii.
I could not put her book down. Reading about her experiences with family and friends, her early struggles to identify and honor her inner grains of strength. I loved her honesty and her unabridged dialogue to her audience, talking openly about her emotional and physical separations from family and friends.
I was awed by her desires and spiritual feet that kept moving forward and onward. I loved taking the journey with her. I loved witnesing her finding her way home. I was inspired and breathless.
What I also find interesting on a personal level is how I have "run into" Judith's books, Carolyn Myss's books and tapes, along with many Depok books in 2nd hand stores. They seem to be just waiting there for me to find and read and love. Thank you Judith, all you say is so true, all you feel is so divinely simple and clear.

Summary: Compelling Memoir and Psychic How-To Book
Review: In Second Sight, Judith Orloff has written an extremely compelling memoir of her personal journey in becoming a well-balanced psychic. The first half is narrative, and in the second half, she writes about techniques that everyone can use to develop their own "second sight." Several scenes stand out: Judith as a child, awakening in the middle of the night, knowing that her grandfather has died; Judith learning, long after she has struggled through the rigors of medical school, that her M.D. mother and her grandmother before that had psychic gifts as well; Judith sitting at her mother's deathbed and feeling the presence of her deceased grandmother there with them--three generations of women gathering at a time of transition. Judith's writing style is sharp and engaging--I could not put the book down; yet at the same time, I could not wait to rush off and try the techniques she suggested. More than anything, I was impressed by her gentleness, humility, and respect--towards her gift, and towards you, the reader.

Review: "Second Sight" is wonderfully validating for readers who experience intuitive flashes and psychic events, as well as a very intriguing read for those who don't. Dr. Judith Orloff's book, which engaged me immediately and felt like a conversation that ended much too soon, builds a sturdy bridge of understanding between the worlds of science and spirituality. Medical doctors and mediums alike can freely traverse Dr. Orloff's territory without feeling as though they've drifted into the enemy's camp. Dr. Orloff doesn't read palms; no psychic call-in lines or tea leaves here. She simply shares her story with warmth and candor, convincing us that it's possible to intuit more about a medical reality than meets the eye. This book offers plentiful proof of the body-mind-spirit connection. It paints a vivid portrait of a new kind of healer; one who not only taps into the rational mind to access scientific knowledge, but also heeds the psychic impressions that invisibly complete the puzzle to effect healing. Dr. Orloff knows these realms. This book gets my highest recommendation.

Review: I loved this book! Dr. Orloff allows the reader to travel with her though her rich and poignant history as she shares her wondrous story. The writing is effortless and consuming; this book was written "in the moment", in a conscious, beautiful place. Judith illuminates wisdom we all share.

Review: Dr. Orloff has written a wonderful book that combines her personal story with examples of intuition and how to develop them. I recommend this book for anyone who is looking for growth, self-awareness, or does not know what they are seeking, but know they need something. Dr. Orloff is careful to point out that developing these skills is beneficial to personal growth, not making money with a 900 number! Her open, loving personality shines through every page, and is inspiring to those of us who want to live a more loving, open life. Aside from all that, reading about her decision to include intuition into her psychiatric practice, then tell the world about it in this book, makes her truly admirable. She took an incredible risk, and it resulted in opening a new field of psychology. She is brave and caring, a great role model for us all.

Review: Once I picked up Judith's book I could not put it down. At the time I came across Second Sight I was wanting to learn more about the world behind the eye. Judith not only talks about it, but gives tools for getting there. What I found so wonderful about Judith's book was her honesty. She completely opens up and exposes herself by inviting the reader to travel with her along her incredible journey. I highly recommend this book for anyone interested in learning more about what it means to be psychic.

Review: I was totally engulfed from the very first page. Judith Orloff is truly a gifted writer as well as a gifted psychiatrist and psychic. Dr. Orloff describes in such a way every experience so you are able to feel, see, hear, touch, taste and SENSE it! It is truly a remarkable journey. I could not put the book down it touched my inner most being. She is reachable, human and at the same time unbelievably spiritually connected. You are certain after reading this book to come away knowing that everyone of us are able to connect to the divine; it is our gift, our birthright. After reading Second Sight I realize that Judith is an ordinary person with an extraordinary gift who has followed her callings and is now one of our messengers. She gives hope and light to the world. I HIGHLY RECOMMEND THIS BOOK TO ANYONE. You will find it has something for everyone - those who need no convincing of the psychic realm and those who are highly skeptical of it. She uses both the left and right brain beautifully.

Summary: Second Sight
Review: I knew I had to purchase Second Sight when I first met Judith Orloff on the television show Beyond Chance. I purchased the book the next day and it was very inspirational. I found the book honest and spoken from the heart. Judith has answered many of my unspoken questions. Second Sight has taken me on a journey beyond my wildest dreams and has exposed my psychic to a different level. I look forward to reading her new book entitled Positive Energy.
