Summary: Great book
Review: Anyone who is a genuine Vincent Price fan will find this book invaluable. Lucy Chase Williams has done a great job. The best Complete Films of... book to come along in a long time, on one of the most deserving actors

Summary: If you like Vincent Price you'll like this book
Review: Citadel Books vary in quality, some appear to be put together in 6 weeks. Others, like this one, are put together by someone with a genuine knowledge and love of their subject. Dozens upon dozens of photos - what fan, let alone film scholar, wouldn't love that? An introductory biography that is quite good, and well written plot synopses. Best of all, Williams interviewed dozens of Price's co-workers, and their quotes enliven the proceedings considerably. Best of all II, Williams provides an Introduction by Vincent Price, part of his The Villain Still Pursues Me talk. Some people love dining on sour grapes - this book is pure, like water for chocolate.

Summary: Best-ever FILMS OF book
Review: Every review I saw called this the best-ever FILMS OF book--not just the best book about Price's movies, but the best FILMS OF book EVER. And it has lived up to the praise. Lots of rare stills, behind-the-scenes info, excellent writing, and many fascinating revelations about Price the Man.

Summary: The best book on Vincent Price
Review: Fans of Vincent Price have much to rejoice over in The Complete Films of Vincent Price. It's hard to believe that for the first time a book provides not only COMPLETE coverage of each of his feature films, but also a wonderful 50+ page biography of the man we loved to have scare us.

In each of the feature film summaries, author Lucy Chase Williams not only gives us complete cast and credit listings, but also charming ancedotes provided by fellow cast members. This distinguished list includes Charlton Heston, Angela Lansbury, Jane Russell, Robert Mitchum, Gregory Peck, and many, many others.

But what really makes this book a joy for all Vincent fans is the biography. Almost everyone only thinks of Vincent Price as "that horror film actor", but he was so much more than that. Williams warmly reveals Price as the well-known, well-schooled, down-to-earth human being his fans knew him to be. We see the art lover, the fine cook, the author, the "special guest star" on HUNDREDS of television series, and... the practical joker who knew how to enjoy life and have fun.

The Complete Films of Vincent Price is a wonderful book. More appropriately, it is The COMPLETE Vincent Price. The multi-faceted gentleman everyone should get to know.

Summary: "Priceless" Pictures from an Actor's Life
Review: Forget the biographical portion of this book - it's short and general, though sufficient to the purpose of what this volume really is, which is a celebration of Price's life and films.

What sells this book is the pictures. Gorgeous stills from all of Price's movies - and quite a few from his life and stage plays, as well - plentifully stuff this beautiful coffee-table offering, on every page. Each film is discussed briefly, along with notes on its place in Price's life and ouevre, and accompanied by comments from his directors, producers and co-stars, and even Price, himself. Each picture is worth a thousand words, and some of them are really remarkable - for instance, cartoon cells from characters Price voiced for Disney studios and Miramax (The Great Mouse Detective and Arabian Knight) and Hanna-Barbera's The 13 Ghosts of Scooby Doo. There are photos of him with famous seemingly unlikely latter-day admirers, like Alice Cooper. Caricatures and print-ads abound, such as Price selling Tuaca liqueur and Emba minks. Even his image on a long-forgotten Milton Bradley "Shrunken Head Apple Sculpture" kit is on display.

If you're a fan, or looking for a Christmas or birthday present for someone who is, you just couldn't beat the bargain of this book at twice the "price"!

Summary: Lots of lovely...photos!
Review: I can hear that silly associate of Patsy Stone's of ABFAB saying "lots of lovely...photos," and besides being a great filmography of Price's work, this book features a host of visuals that aren't the run-of-the-mill variety publicity shots you're likely to find elsewhere. Nice quips from Price himself and colleagues about his films, life, and art-collecting. A great reference for the shelf. Wholly recommended.

Summary: THE best book on Price's career
Review: I can't add to the ENORMOUS number of favorable reviews by the most esteemed journalists-in-the-know such as the people at VIDEO WATCHDOG, MIDNIGHT MARQUEE, etc. There is no 'fan whitewash' here - this is an objective look at Price's FILMS, not a detailed overview of his life. The facts are accurate, the research detailed, and Ms. LCW has done a great service to all who want this information. Please disregard the hoopla one reads in relation to Price's daughter's book in regard to this monumental work.

Summary: The Price is Nice
Review: I loved this book. Okay, mostly for the photos - and the book is jam packed with them! But also because of the descriptions of the movies, many of which I've never seen but would sure like to.

Summary: Vincent Price would like this book
Review: Movies are meant to be seen in theatres, in a communal atmosphere. With Price's, most of which I have on video, I invite over a lot of friends, we gather around my big screen tv, with popcorn and pop, and enjoy a day at the movies. It's full of nostalgia and a lot of fun and creates a lot of good memories. And that's why I like Citadel's series of books, because they help to bring back those times, help me enjoy the nostalgia. Lucy Chase Williams' book performs this service admirably. I browse through the pages for the photos, and smile as I see Price in my mind's eye, I dip into the text here and there and everywhere there is a nugget. This book needed to be done - should have been done a long time ago, and is a fitting tribute to Vincent Price and a joy to his fans.
