Summary: Bravo Mr. Johnston!
Review: I got these tapes for my 16th birthday. Since then, I have listened to them over and over, nine times in all. That doesn't matter. Mr Johnston's voice is good and well and shows why the bible is holy. I would recomend people to buy them and cherish them for their holiness.

Summary: Make good use of your time
Review: I really have enjoyed the Audio Bible. It enables me to listen to The Word while driving in my car. I'm exploring areas of the bible that I haven't been able to get at with all the time commitments in my life, especially in the Old Testament. I enjoy this version (NIV) and the reader, Stephen Johnson has a voice that allows for good listening. The background music is nice and not overbearing. My only criticism is where the editors fixed what I assume are reading mistakes with voice-overs that don't quite match the volume and cadence and interrupts the music in the background. This calls attention to the change and draws attention from The Word. It would have been better if they opted for a re-read of the entire chapter (track) rather than fix things as they chose. Even with this minor glitch in the production, I am very pleased with my purchase. I welcome the availability of the CD version. The CD's come in a binder-like folder with the typical see through plastic holders for the CD's . This makes it easy to browse through the CD's as the Book/Chapter name that comprise the tracks are printed on the CD. For example, was easy for my son to find and borrow the CD that contained the book of Job to listen before a bible study class. I am sure this purchase will enhance your understanding of the bible. There is something about both listening to the spoken word and having it heard in the context of the verses before and after that enhance your knowledge of the scriptures. Enjoy and grow in faith ... Steve

Summary: Mr. Johnston is fabulous. Powerful voice, easy listening
Review: I spend 2 hours driving to and from work each day. Listening to this dramatized Bible puts me in a remarkably serene mood. The Word comes alive and it's like listening to live theater. I'm so glad I have this Bible. Thank you Stephen Johnston.

Summary: The beauty of the KJV and a beautiful narration
Review: If you want to understand the KJV and still find the poetic magic of the English translation the NKJV is for you. Wonderful narration by Mr. Stephen Johnston

Summary: Disappointing
Review: Mr. Johnston has an execllent voice, he should have just read the Bible with out the voice effects and background music. The volume of the background music changed often and is at times quite distracting.

Review: My 60-CD changer has been playing a set continuously. My portable CD player plays my other set in my car or when I'm doing an outdoor activity.

Summary: Reading the Bible while cleaning the house!
Review: This audio bible is a great opportunity to read the bible even if you have little time. It makes practical work much more meaningful! Also there is the chance of learning (parts of) the New testament by heart - do you remember how well you knew the cassettes you used to listen to when you were little? The standard phrase "you've been listening to the finest and digitally recorded ..." is somewhat annoying in the beginning, but you'll get used to it :-)
