Rating: Summary: Suspense and drama on every page... Review: BLIND RUN is a fast-paced, page-turner filled with more twists and turns than a country back road. The novel centers around an ex-CIA agent, Ethan Decker, who walked away from his career after his young son is killed. Now, three years later still living in utter agony, another agent under diress leaves her two children in his care. Without giving too much of the plot away, Ethan, rejoins with his ex-wife and the two kids in an attempt to keep them all safe. Along the way, he faces his fears and demons from the past and sets to build a new life. There is plenty of mystery and intrigue to keep the reader guessing what's coming next and the author left an opening at the end to expand on the characters' futures. Ms. Lewin has a gripping writing style that draws the reader into the character's lives. I look forward to reading more by this author.
Rating: Summary: Blind Run Review: Ethan Decker, an agent for a secretive government agency is expecting to be killed after retiring from the agency. He is, therefore, surprised when a fellow agent shows up with two children for his safe keeping. The children were taken off a secret island where they were involved in some kind of experiment. When the agent is killed, it is left up to Ethan Decker to find out where the children are from and why they were being held on the island. BLIND RUN is an entertaining debut novel that is remarkably ordinary and forgettable. The characters never quite manage to be sympathetic whole creations. Stereotypes abound. The pacing is quite fast as a thriller should be and the length supports the pedestrian plot. A good job for a debut novel but it failed to draw my attention to the author enough to buy and read her next book.
Rating: Summary: Suspense and drama on every page... Review: Ex-operative Ethan Decker has spent the last three years in his own personal living hell. Because of his job, his five year old son was murdered, and Ethan blames himself. Ethan felt he had no choice but to walk away from his life--leaving his grieving wife, Sydney, who has no idea that her son's death was not an accident. Ethan now lives in the New Mexico desert alone, miserable, and drowning in guilt. Than to his disgust, Anna Kelsey another operative that he believed dead, shows up with two children. Anna says she needs Ethan's help to protect the children, but he wants nothing to do with her or the kids. Unfortunately, Anna is murdered possibly by the same man that killed Ethan's son. Now Ethan must figure out why Anna was running with the children and at the same time he must protect his ex-wife, who he is afraid is in grave danger. Of course, nothing in Ethan's life is easy. Sydney wants nothing to do with him, but for the sake of the children she is willing to stick around, for now. And the mystery surrounding the children is far more complicated than either of them suspected. They discover that before Anna helped them escape, the children were living on an island and being experimented on. And their are people that will do anything to get the two kids back and Ethan and Sydney will do anything to keep them and the other children on the island safe. Ethan is also starting to suspect that the agency he worked for is also responsible for what is happening to the children on the island. In the end, everything leads back to the island. Ethan just has to make sure that he can keep them all alive long enough to get the answers they need and than get them all to a safe place. He also wouldn't mind a second chance with his ex-wife.The first thing to get my attention about this books was the beautiful cover. The next was the characters. I loved the hero, Ethan Decker. The reader could "feel" his pain at the loss of his son and the separation from his ex-wife. And, although I cared for Sydney I did not feel as if I knew her as well as Ethan, but that is not surprising since Ethan is the main character of the book and the story pretty much revolves around his actions. I also liked that the children played such an important part of the story, especially Danny and Callie. The book is fast-paced with a strong plot and a lot of action, suspense, and mystery. This is definitely a book that you will want to read cover to cover. The hardest part for me was the ending. I kept thinking-what happened to Sydney, Ethan, and the children? However, the ending does give the author the opportunity to write more books about these characters with the children as the lead characters (hint, hint). I would love to find out what happens to these kids and how they cope with what happened to them on the island and the repercussions from the "experiments" that were performed on them. Also, I would love to know how Sydney and Ethan move on with their lives. This was a very strong first book for the author and I look forward to reading her next book--Out Of Reach.
Rating: Summary: Blind Run Review: For her first book a brillant start! Full of suspense, heart and just an overall good read. I look forward to her next books. I highly recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Loved this Book Review: I have to say I LOVED THIS BOOK. And I am not a suspense reader, but my mother-in-law is, so when I met Patricia Lewin at a book signing, I decided to buy the book for my mother-in-law's birthday a few months away. But reader that I am, it's hard to have a book in the house and not read it--so I did. The story simply grabbed me, and every chapter brought a new turn, making it hard to put down. All I could think about was what a great movie this would make. I can definitely recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: Excellent Debut Novel Review: I just finished reading BLIND RUN by Patricia Lewin and it was excellent! This is a suspense story featuring agents of a "secret" US agency, ruthless mercinaries, renegade assassins, revenge, run-away children, a fugitive flight, and an evil conspiracy along with a few surprising twists. This book grabbed my interest from the start and held it through to the end. It is an excellent debut novel. I've read better, but not in a very long time! I recommend it!
Rating: Summary: Blind Run Review: I thought this book was great! One of those kept me up all night until I finished it books!
Rating: Summary: Blind Run captivates reader's heart and thoughts Review: I was intrigued with Blind Run from the moment I saw the cover! Two figures running along a boardwalk, by the ocean, in the light of a full moon, invited my fingers to open the book and to discover why they were pictured in such distress. The cover and then the characters kept my attention as I read on. Lewin has a way of describing the scenes vividly and her characters are mulitfacited. Ethan Decker is the kind of man that heroes are made of. He's bound to do the right thing to accomplish his goal and keep those entrusted to his care safe during dangerous times. His complex character struggles with life issues that are common to all, yet he perseveres, without compromise, to protect the innocent when danger is at the doorstep. Lewin is to be congratulated in her attempt to have good win over evil! She takes the reader down the twisted path of intrigue and keeps the reader guessing as to the ulterior motives of each character. She has a good balance between love and hate, deception and exposure, trust and doubt. Two members of our family were rushing to finish the book at the same time so that the rest of us could share in the suspense. The read was captivating from the first page to the last, with your mind wishing there could be more!
Rating: Summary: Good reading here... Review: Three years ago, Ethan Decker lost everything. A vengeful enemy did worse than killing him, he killed Decker's son. To save his wife from being the next victim, he exiled himself to the desert; locked in a torture chamber of his own making, Decker existed, but did not live. That all changes when a ghost from his past leaves two children who need him in his care before finally dying. Now Decker is all that stands between these children and a fiendish plot with ties to his past. As much as he wants to protect his ex wife, Sydney Decker is the only person who can help him. *** The modern world has its share of new miracles, but as this book demonstrates, they can just as easily be horrors. With tightly drawn suspense, Ms. Lewin takes readers on a chilling journey full of hope and pain. *** Amanda Killgore
