Summary: Help Yourself with 101 plus one poems from the white man?
Review: I loved this book.. and the CD is really haunting too.
Anthony Baden's got a very sexy voice and powerful delivery!
I've studied English Literature at University and Baden's writing reminds me of Shakespeare's Hamlet Soliloquy.

In his prose, Baden is able to pinpoint emotions and situations with a Shakespearean talent, that rare clarity of expression mixed with grace and brevity. No superfluous words or wooly thoughts in this book! Baden, like Shakespeare, knows exactly what he means and is able to write it -- keeping you hooked, while stirring you up. Baden displays such a deep understanding of the human heart, that I compare the two men - both great writers -- without shame. I think it's a great and thought-provoking read.

Summary: Help Yourself with 101 plus one poems from the while man?
Review: Often, the biggest cliché used to describe a fine book it that it's a ''page turner''. I cannot say that about Anthony Baden's ''Help Yourself with 101 plus one Poems'' - but that's not a criticism. In his book of sensitive yet hard-hitting poetry and comment, Baden takes us on a trip through life: how we treat, or rather all-too-often fail to treat one another, how we avoid when we should confront and where we go wrong - even when knowledge and basic self-awareness should be directing our paths in a healthier direction.

I find it hard to turn the pages of this book of poems, because each page, often each sentence, is so loaded with the power to speak into our souls and provoke us that I am left having to contemplate at length what I have just read. This book will shake you, enlighten you, enable you to walk into the light where maybe you are drifting in darkness - and may even disturb you too.

But you have to let it in. To get the best from this book, you must contemplate the many simple life-lessons which Baden offers us from his own experience of finding personal peace and truth, out of the ashes of dysfunctionality.

Baden comments in the book that '' history often repeats itself, when nobody questions
the me, myself''. How powerful is that? A call for us all to face ourselves so that we
finally take ownership the responsibility we take-on, but often shift, to ensure the damage done to us is NOT passed down to the innocent. To illustrate this, Baden notes: ''The child sometimes forgets, but the adult can remember; the child becomes the adult,
their sins become their member''.

Wrap yourself, with courage and a receptive mind in this wonderful, lively, thoroughly thought-provoking poetic guide to life - and through it, learn to treat yourself and those around you better. Open the pages, or play the accompanying CD, recorded by the author, and allow Baden to speak directly into your heart. It may rock your world somewhat. Good! So it should. That is Baden's intention.
