Summary: Great Book
Review: At first I was reluctant to read this book, since I usually don't like books where there is a lot of suspense, and where there is killing, but since it was by Nora Roberts, I decided to give it a chance. I LOVED it. The way she wrote it made you fall in love with the characters. It is impossible to put down once you start, and truly keeps you on the edge of your seat. One of her best books.

Review: Hot Ice is an entertaining, fun read. It's a fast paced book with many funny moments. From the first few scenes when Doug jumps in Whitney's car & forces her to take partake in a car chase to the times when Whitney carefully notes down in her notebook every cent Doug owes her - it's full of laugh-out-loud moments. The pace does slow near the middle... but I'm glad I made it through to see what happened... I do agree that these aren't the BEST characters to ever stumble into a book. But just jump in and enjoy the hilarious and sexy banter between the couple, fun plot & 'scary' villians.
Recommended for lovers of goofy romantic comedies.

Summary: A Good Romantic Comedy
Review: Hot Ice is quite simply an entertaining, light, fun read. The pace of the book is lightning fast as Whitney and Doug go on a treasure hunt whilst evading the clutches of the villain hilariously named `Dimitri'. To be honest, the best part of this book is the many, many funny moments. From the first few scenes when Doug jumps in Whitney's car and forces her to take part in a car chase to the times when Whitney carefully notes down in her notebook every cent Doug owes her the novel is full of laugh-out-loud moments. Unfortunately the pace slows at the end a bit and the tension flags which led to me making this a three star review rather than a four star one. Many reviewers have complained about the characters and I do agree that they weren't always the best. Whitney often comes across as spoilt and stuck up, and dare I say it a little stereotypical with her references to `Daddy' and her constant sniping about the money Doug owed her despite the fact that she has millions in the bank. However this woman has backbone and she was feisty and very funny. Doug is hot but I admit that him being a thief put me off right away, in my opinion there is no way you can justify theft and burglary - it's just wrong. Anyway, I would advise you to leave reality to one side when you pick up this book. Just jump on and enjoy the hilarious and sexy banter between the couple, dazzling plot and villains so two-dimensional they are like something from a cartoon. This just adds to the entertainment value. Recommended for lovers of goofy romantic comedies. JoAnne

Summary: Disappointing to say the least!
Review: I had just finished "Carnal Innocence" which I really enjoyed. So it was with great enthusiasm that I picked up my second Nora Roberts book, "Hot Ice." Sure, I had heard about Nora Roberts but I hadn't yet read her until "Carnal Innocence." "Hot Ice" is truly disappointing. If I hadn't read "Carnal Innocence" first, I would be thoroughly perplexed as to reason for Roberts' fame. I have no sympathy for the characters. A mismatched couple on a treasure hunt and on the run from a truly nasty man who has a torture chamber, Whitney is too vain to don authentic native dress to avoid recognition and capture...she refuses to look "dowdy" and applies make-up. Her continual whining for fashion and beauty (she actually says "I broke a nail; now what am I supposed to do?!") is pathetic. The hero is no hero but a thief. The book is drudgery to read.

Summary: Enjoyable...............
Review: I still do not understand why such low reviews. I thought the Hot Ice was very exciting and enjoyable. Douglas Lord .thief extrordinare joins up with Whitney McCallister a Young Interior Decorater,to pick off some jewels. The book to me, was exciting from the first page on. I also enjoyed the lively banter between the two of them to final build-up in getting together at the end. I high recommend this book, I enjoyed this one more than some of her others. Please give this book a try, I think you will enjoy it.

Review: I was shocked by the low rating! I have read several Nora Roberts novels and this is truly one of my favorites! It not only contains a sweet romance but is full of adventure and suprise! I strongly recommend this book to any book lover, not just Nora Roberts fans.

Review: I'm an avid Nora Roberts fan, I tend to read any of her books that I can get my hands on! I had a long day of traveling today, so I picked up this book in the airport and read most of it during a 3 hour layover. The basic story is that uber thief Douglas Lord got double crossed by his boss and in return, double crossed the boss and stole some papers with information leading to a treasure in Madagascar. While on the run, he hooks up with wealthy ice cream heiress Whitney MacAllister. The two of them head out on an adventure to find the treasure, all the while outwitting Doug's old boss and his goons. While this book doesn't come close to Nora's more recent stuff, it's still a fun and entertaining read. Some reviewers didn't like Whitney much, but I found her to be the most interesting character in the entire book. I never could predict what might come out of her mouth! The ending of Hot Ice was where I think this book fell apart. I hesitate to say too much for those who might still want to read it, but it seems anticlimactic. I also felt that while the two characters had an attraction to each other, there was never the romance and love aspect - so I also found that part of the ending a little hard to swallow. Even with its flaws, the book read quickly and was fun. It made my layover and long flights fly by, I could hardly put it down.

Review: Im a big Nora Roberts fan. Every book is a whole new adventure, this one is not an exception. This story keeps you on the run from the beggining to the end. Whitney and Doug are two incredibly strong character, they challenge each other and take each other on the same ground and at equal levels even when both of them have oppossite backgrounds. You get so deep in the story, feel the chace and want to find the "tresure" as much as them. Its a story that will keep you on your toes. I loved every pages. So go ahead and pick it up!
