Rating: Summary: Excellent. Review: I'd owned and cherished the recording for some years before discovering that the sheet music was also available in this volume, a discovery I found rather exciting. Well, I'm not disappointed. In fact, I very much recommend this.
Rating: Summary: Excellent. Review: Just in case you're wondering who this guy is: Ron Rendek studied at the Chicago Conservatory College and Arizona State University with Thomas Binkley, Richard Pick, Joe Daley, and Randall Shinn. He performs as soloist on guitar, lute and vihuela and live and on recordings with early music and contemporary ensembles. He has been featured on WFMT-FM radio and in the prestigious "Dame Myra Concert Series" and with the Pulitzer Prize winner Studs Terkel on the Studs Terkel Show.Oh, and the book, by the way, is excellent.
Rating: Summary: Hmm... Review: Just to be clear: There appear to be two versions of this: One that includes both the music (printed music, book, that is) and the CD recording and one that includes just the CD recording. (I've got the book version.) The odd thing is that if you click on "popular music" you'll also find a "We Gather Together" CD available from World Library Publications.
Rating: Summary: Blurb: Review: This book is a compilation of diverse sacred and secular themes specifically arranged, adapted, and composed for solo guitar, with one tune arranged for guitar and violin. These pieces exemplify a wide spectrum of styles, cultures, and emotions through the inclusion of traditional and modern hymn tunes, spiritual, early works from the 15th-18th centuries, music from native South America, and several new compositions for guitar solo. Written in standard notation and tablature.
