Rating: Summary: Well crafted, exciting read from first page to last. Review: Blood And Iron by Dan MacGregor is the first in a series of action-packed adventure novels that chronicle the military adventures of young Marine Corporal Levi Rankin. In this exciting novel we are introduced to a man who must endure deadly conflicts in the Battle of Manila Bay and the Boxer Rebellion. Tense and with a heavy focus on danger, Blood And Iron is a well crafted, very exciting read from first page to last.
Rating: Summary: Good, Old-Fashioned Adventure Review: The year is 1898 and America is on the verge of becoming an imperial power. The book begins with the U.S. Navy sailing to Manila Bay to engage the Spanish. The hero, ex-cowboy from Wyoming, Levi Rankin, is a member of the U.S. Marine Corps on the U.S.S. Olympia and is about to experience his baptism of fire. The action never stops and continues to the Philippines and China, just in time for the Boxer Rebellion. The first of a six-part series, this is one book you can't put down 'til its done.
