Summary: A psychological thriller inside a mystery. Good read!
Review: Having discovered Kellerman after reading "Sanctuary" only a few months ago, I've been reading each of the the Rina Lazarus, Peter Decker books in order. Starting with "Ritual Bath," "Justice" is the one I've just finished. Even though I have never been a fan of the mystery genre, the character development of Decker and Lazarus and the authentic Judaism are what hooked me on these books and keeps me wanting more. Readers like me should be forewarned that this book has very little of Peter and Rina or Judaism. There are consolations that will keep you spellbound, though. Kellerman presents the psychological underpinnings of the two young "lovers" in an engaging and artful storytelling device. My only criticism is that Kellerman should stay away from descriptions of other religious experience other than Judaism. She fails at describing either an authentic Baptist or Catholic experience and she should stop trying. Other than that, I think this is an extremely diverting, interesting, and entertaining summer read.

Summary: meh
Review: Honestly, this was a really bad book. It was fun to read, and it passed the time on a boring car ride, but it was really bad. Never having read any Decker/Lazarus books before, I must say that I found both characters rather stale and far preferred Terry and Chris. Yet even they remained underdeveloped. The characters fell into their assigned roles: Decker, the cop we're all supposed to like; Rina, his pretty wife we're all supposed to like; Chris, the psycho we're supposed to feel guilty for liking; Terry, the sweet, beautiful, moral girl (enough said); Cheryl, the promiscuous popular-girl about whom we know nothing (but we're supposed to feel sorry that she's dead); and a couple of other cookie-cutter characters. There's potential in the story, and at times it's well-written, but the author is obviously going for sex, scandal, etc. The resolution of the crime doesn't feel natural and isn't satisfying because it comes from nowhere, and there are one or two scenes that seem to exist solely for the purpose of being sexy. It's worth reading if it's lying around and there's nothing else better, but I wouldn't pay money for it.

Summary: This is one of the best Faye Kellerman books I've read
Review: I have read and will read any of Faye Kellerman's books and I must say that I absolutely loved Justice. This book just exemplifies Ms. Kellerman's tremendous talent. How she was able to write this story from the perspective of more than one person in a manner such that you cared...terrific. One note. I must say that this is the first book in which I found myself actally not fully siding with Pete Decker. In this book, you just get to see him as a hard-as-nails police officer, not necessarily a man with a heart (as he's usually portrayed). This was awkward for me to get used to, but I'm glad for this because it was good to see Decker in a different light.

Summary: A great book!!!
Review: I'm a 16 year old girl from Sotckholm (sweden) And I just finished reading JUSTICE... I loved it, but I got dissapointed on the end. Cause the end kind of ruined the story a bit... Cris had been described as a pretty NICE guy during the whole story and then suddenly he became this evil person... I liked Chris character and that is maybe why I got dissapointed. Justice was the first book by Faye Kellerman that I have read, but it for sure wont be the last! Great job mrs/miss Kellerman! And I wish that there would come a follow up in the near future so we can read about what happened to Terry and Chris. I'm really curious...

Summary: The best one yet!
Review: I've read all of Faye Kellerman's books, and I think all of them are terrific. But I find this one especialy thrilling. This is the only book out of all the Peter Decker and Rina Lazarus books that shows another point of veiw. Terry was in a way telling Chris's side of the story. Even though i'm Jewish Faye Kellerman made me look at my religion with renewed faith. I hope that Faye Kellerman will continue the series so that we could all enjoy another wounderful book.

Summary: One Of Faye Kellerman's Best
Review: I've stayed with Peter and Rina for 7 books; this is my 8th. I'd say that qualifies me as a loyal fan. :-)

Looking at the reviews for all the different Peter and Rina novels, you can see that some were loved. Some were well liked. Some were even hated. Personally, I loved them all.

This book, however, is definitely one of her better ones as the other reviews attest to.

It's unfortunate that Kellerman continues the trend of keeping Rina in the background. Rina is becoming a rather inconsequential character. Too bad. I really like the books where she and Peter interact more on the crime at hand (she had a rather nice comeback in Sanctuary).

However, as a previous reviewer smartly remarked, we see Peter in a different light and perhaps we learn some more about him. One of the things that impresses me with Kellerman's writing is that her characters have flaws that make them more human. You often don't see built in character flaws in modern novels, but Faye Kellerman's characters have that quality that enables me to identify with them. This is a sign to me that she bases her characters on people that she knows.

The plot is gripping. Without revealing a spoiler, part of that is the suspense of whether Peter will do the Right Thing[TM].

If you've stuck by Kellerman this far, this is NOT the book to stop at. You definitely want to read this one.

If you're new to Kellerman, definitely start at the beginning. Aside from the fact that The Ritual Bath is arguably the best of the first 8 books, Kellerman's characters go through life changes. Part of the fun of these books is the fact that Kellerman's character development is spectacular. We see people grow up. We see people get old. We truly get to know them. Like old friends.

Summary: Finally my story can be told.
Review: It's nice to see that someone has finally written a book about my life...

But it'd be nice to see some royalties.

Summary: Riveting book
Review: Just when you think Faye Kellerman's writing is already at its best, she comes up with a brilliant book like "Justice". In this eighth book of the Peter Decker/Rina Lazarus series, Kellerman concentrates on another character's point of view as much as she does on Decker's. She tells the story of Terry, a hard-working young high school girl whose father and step-mother expect her to keep house, babysit her younger sister, and maintain top grades. She is asked to tutor Chris Whitman, a young man who runs with the popular crowd and happens to be related to an important Mafia figure. She enters a world of lies and intrigue, where the only thing which remains somewhat constant is Chris's obsession with Terry. Despite this, he maintains sexual relations with other girls and treats Terry with the utmost respect. One of his sexual partners is killed, and Decker quickly closes in on Chris as the chief suspect. This book is loaded with twists and turns, and stories within stories. It deals with police politics, race relations, and gangland justice, and is a very satisfying read. Congratulations to Faye Kellerman who outdoes herself on this wonderful and complex book.
