Summary: Fresh Reading
Review: a good book, if you are grounded in the Lord, it is a refresher but not as profound if I hadn't already been through some books that deal with this same issue, but very inspirational if you haven't...

Rating: 5 stars
Summary: God Is In Control
Review: Few people follow Christ with the humbleness and devotion of Jim Cymbala. His dedication to surving God leaps from the pages as you read about his incredible life. Fresh Faith is a compilation of stories that have transformed lives. Cymbala considers himself blessed to have been chosen to witness direct encounters with the power of Jesus Christ. This book will bring you to your knees, praying with a faith that you have never known!

Summary: Not as good
Review: Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire was the work of a lifetime. Fresh faith isn't. It's okay, but not as good as the first book, or the ones that followed.

Summary: Great, inspiring book
Review: I love the way Pastor Cymbala writes...no frills, to the point, convicting, encouraging. So far, I have read both "Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire" and "Fresh Faith" and come away from both of them filled with both renewed love for my Saviour and sadness over the coldness of some of the churches I have been in. What a difference it would make if more Christians would read these books (along with the Bible of course) and take the message to heart. It would result in a deeper, more loving relationship with Jesus Christ and a enduring compassion for the lost. I recommend both of these books highly. "Fresh Power", which I am about half finished reading, is also a powerful testimony of the workings of the Holy Spirit.

Summary: Not a Strong "Follow-up" Book
Review: I read Fresh Wind Fresh Fire and could not put it down. It changed my life. However, I was very disappointed in Fresh Faith. I struggled to get through it. There is one section of the book that deals with Jeroboam that is outstanding - illustrating that we must trust God's plan and not our own thoughts. Most of the other stories and scripture references do not seem to interrelate well. Some stories are too short, some too long and few drive a point home. If you have read Fresh Wind, Fresh Fire, I would recommend re-reading it before purchasing this book.

Summary: *fresh is best!!!! *
Review: If you read fresh wind, fresh fire, YOU must read this book! This book I feel is Jim Cymbala's best yet. Do you feel like your prayers are going nowhere? Do you honestly know what faith is?... This book showed me how to pick up the pieces and how to really pray. Do you honestly know where faith comes from?? If you read one book this year, do yourself a favor and read this one! You will not be sorry.

Summary: Fresh Faith Can Help Freshen Your Faith!
Review: Personally, I thought Cymbala's book was an excellent and timely read, especially during a time of spritual dryness that Christians occasionally encounter.

Some of the interesting points Cymbala covers include:

1. God can free us from the bondage of the past.
2. God is impressed with the heart, not with outward appearances.
3. We sometimes need to say no to good activities so we can follow God.
4. Many of our struggles have to do with God's timing.
5. Let God do things Himself and do not give in to unbelief and impatience.
6. Some people are not good for us to be around - ask God for wisdom in avoiding those people and ask for people who would be good for you.
7. Approach God boldly to cleanse you.
8. When we stop living by faith, we get into trouble.
9. We must allow God to refine us in His likeness.
10. We will not be ashamed when we trust God.

Read and be encouraged to have your faith in Christ be renewed and made stronger in Him!

Summary: Not some Neo-Charismatic Hoopla
Review: Praise God, a wonderful little book on faith that isn't written from some sort of hype centered around "positive confession" and acting like problems we encounter in life really don't exist. Filled with powerful real life examples of faith in action, Cymbala shows us how faith overcomes even the most difficult of problems we are faced with, including deep inner trama's from our past.

He also shows us that the Church has gotten off track, being more concerned about building programs and cash flow, yet these are things Paul was never concerned with with the congregations he oversaw. Rather, he was concerned with the level of faith each congregation had, knowing that if a congregation's faith was off, then everything else would be too. He says we as the Church need to live in the spirit of anticipation of what Christ is going to do, instead of simply living in the here-and-now or in our past. We need to be a people constantly trusting upon the promises of God.

Summary: Pastor Cymbala does it again!
Review: The pastor of the Brooklyn Tabernacle has done it again! His new book, "Fresh Faith" really does help one to yearn for that freshness of spiritual faith. Pastor Cymbala, not only shares some of the things that are happening in his congregation (and those stories ALONE are breathtaking), but also helps us to understand some of the great biblical stories from the aspect of faith and God's faithfulness.

Don't be mistaken: This is NOT a "Word of Faith" book, and the author quite clearly states that fact. But, if read carefully, it will help the seeking believer to trust God's Word and to have faith inspired in their soul. All the stories and scriptures are inspiring. What is even more inspiring is a TRIP up to the BIG APPLE and a worship experience with this congregation. The only thing better than the book is THE TRIP.
