Rating: Summary: Not the best of JC Review: Definitely this is not the best book of JC, as all the books you read about Hollywood is always the same, sex, sex and deceive your couple no matter what, many stories of these couples are the same as in the book American Star of the same author, the only good part of the book the the killer, but is a real small story of him. The book keeps rolling among the same story of deceive for each couple and that makes the read heavy and boring. The book could be written with many pages less and with more thrillers in each story as American Star or any book in the Lucky story.
Rating: Summary: THOSE DESPERATE HOLLYWOOD WIVES Review: Fasten your seatbelt and get ready for the ride of your life. Jackie Collins is in top form, delivering the ultimate Hollywood novel in which all suffer in the name of love (and happiness, of course). From the innocent but sexy ingenue to the unhappy used-up rich wife, HOLLYWOOD WIVES (1983) doesn't miss a beat in bringing you dishy accounts of the rich and famous. You'll have as much fun trying to put real names (that is if you're over 30) to the many characters as figuring out who's the narrative culprit behind the facade. Told with a sharp mind and a fast-paced style, Collins' tale is filled with romance, intrigue and suspense; a fabulously compelling fun read that never pretends to be anything more than what it is.-----Martin Boucher
Rating: Summary: Not what I'm used to - but GREAT! Review: Hollywood Wives is quite possibly the most ingenius novel since Valley of the Dolls. It's a page turner in every sense of the word--fascinating, exciting, juicy, trashy, and addicting. It definitely ranks as one of my all-time favorite novels. The author masterfully weaves various storylines together, culminating in a nailbiting conclusion, and she does it all with a tongue in cheek tone and unbearable suspense. I hope time is kind to this book, because it deserves a place in literary history. Highly Recommended, but be warned, YOU WILL NOT BE ABLE TO PUT IT DOWN!
Rating: Summary: So, we've had Husbands, Wives and Kids.... Review: How about Hollywood animals? Kidding aside, I love these Hollywood series of books but I can not get into the Lucky series. I read one book but haven't picked up anymore in the series. I do recommend this book. Extremely entertaining. Very funny in some parts. I wonder if the wives are really as Jackie portrays them? It's funny. When I was putting faces to the characters while reading the book, I kept putting JOAN Collins face on everyone...ha ha. Enjoy this one.
Rating: Summary: Was so great, I couldnt put it down Review: I am an avid Danielle Steel reader, but I heard that Jackie Collins was a good writer, so I decided that I would give her a try, and I was NOT disapointed! It was such a good story, and it wasn't what i was used to, but it was great. The book revolves around a bunch of different characters, and you feel like you know who the people are. You really connect with them. First there is Elaine and Ross Conti, Ross is a movie star, that is getting older, and is afraid of loosing his career. Then there is Buddy and Angel Hudson, Buddy aspirering star, and his new pregnant wife. Then Maralee Gray, divoriced from producer Neil Gray, and Neil is remarried to a woman named Montana, writer of street people, the new movie. It revolves around a man named Deke ANdrews and his troubled life, and you wont beleive what happens in the end It is most surprizing. I loved it. I will be reading Jackie more often! i Love her !
Rating: Summary: I love this book Review: I own a few of Jackie Collins' novels and "Hollywood Wives" is great. It's a peek inside what Hollywood is really like, affairs, drugs, murder, plastic surgery, etc. I love the Angel and Buddy characters. I also loved Elaine. I didn't like Gina Germaine, she kind of reminded me of an Anna Nicole Smith (...) All and all, I loved this book. Call it trashy, call it vulgar, but these kind of books are an escape from the real world.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have read in a long time Review: I went to the libray looking for the newest Hollywood Wives by Mrs. Collins, when I got it I was surprised that it was the older one...but I wasn't disapointed. It was are really wonderful book. The way she describes everyone, their lives, past and present. All the twists and turns in the book. I couldn't not put it down. I was really surpirsed by the ending and you will be too. Me personaly I loved the story line between Buddy Hudson and his new wife Angel. It was a true love story.
Rating: Summary: Hollywood Wives Review: Jackie Collins is my favorite writer and she didn't let me down with this one. This must be one of her best works. I really enjoyed reading about the lives of the rich and famous in Hollywood. And Jackie Collins has a way of telling the story in a manner that makes you feel like you are actually there among the famous in Hollywood. She also has a style where she goes back and forth from one character to another. And she does it in a way that makes the story pick up so much momentum that you cannot put the book down.
Rating: Summary: THE Collins Classic Review: Of all of Jackie Collins' novels, Hollywood Wives ranks as one of her most successful and shocking Hollywood novels. This was the first Jackie Collins novel I ever read; in fact, I came across it at my local library by accident. From the very first page I was hooked, and to be honest I loved all the sex, drugs, and Hollywood shenanigans. Collins really blew the lid off of what it was like to be a "Hollywood wife": affairs, drugs, plastic surgery, pregnancies, glitz, glamor, and a hell of a lotta fun. Normally, I don't give a Collins novel more than three stars, but this one was just too good to rate below four stars. If you're looking for great escapism and a peek into what Hollywood was, still is, like then Hollywood Wives is a must read. The mini-series based on the novel wasn't too bad, either.
Rating: Summary: Not quite what I expected, but good overall Review: This book was not quite what I expected, but I did enjoy it. I guess I was expecting something a little more focusing on the WOMEN. This book didn't really do that, it was more about Hollywood, which was cool, it's just that the title didn't fit. I know this is one of her most popular books,if not THE most popular, it wasn't my favorite though. There were so many characters and so much jumping back and forth from one to the other, like every page, it was hard to get into. Finally you do, but then the jumping around still gets on your nerves. Story wise, it was pretty impressive. A few shocks along the way & a great ending. If you like reading about Hollywood royalty & their livestyles, I'd recommend this book. I also really enjoyed Hollywood Kids!
