Rating: Summary: Definitely a fast pace story Review: Deadly Embrace is a first novel for me to read by Jackie Collins. I picked the book up while shopping with a friend. She said she had read JC's Hollywood Wives and really enjoyed it. So, I'm always game to read something by a different author. I didn't particularly care for the jumping back and forth from the past to the current style of writing. And there were times I thought JC had inserted parts about characters that really weren't pertinent to the story. I didn't particularly care for the Nando and Jolie parts. There were times I found the scenes and the language to be a little on the crude side. That's just my own opinion and the plot is probably typical Vegas style and California author. JC did keep the story going at a fast pace and I did enjoy Michael Castelli and Dani Castle. I couldn't imagine any parent allowing a young teenage daughter to just take off for parts unknown like Sofia was allowed to do. Parts of the book just seemed a little far-fetched at times. I think JC has the writing talent my friend found in Hollywood Wives, so I'll go to the library and pick this novel up to read. Deadly Embrace is a long read with unimportant characters inserted. The author's style in writing this story doesn't make for my idea of a good read. I kept going just to see how JC would tie all the characters together in the end. On a final note, I'm no prude when it comes to reading good literature, but I thought the mass amount of vulgar language detracted from the story. Because of this, I wouldn't recommend this book, but the story was okay.
Rating: Summary: A Definite Page Turner Review: Deadly Embrace was definitely the better of Jackie Collins' Madison Castelli (the story's heroine) series (see L.A. Connections and Lethal Seduction) She created a very likable character in Michael, Madison's father, who we learn much more about his history and his life. Also she created, my personal favorite, Vincent Castle, Michael's son and Madison's half-brother. Vincent had a mafia leader presence to him but he wasn't into the stereotypical mafia things (ex: drugs, hookers, cheating). He was a refreshing character with that presence not only in some of her books and other books, but also on T.V.This was my frist Jackie Collins novel. Even though it has 545 pages, they flew by quickly. I read the book in three days, as is the same time frame with the other books I have read after this. Thanks Jackie. I await your next novel, while in the meantime I devour the handful of your novels that I still haven't read.
Rating: Summary: A Definite Page Turner Review: Deadly Embrace was definitely the better of Ms. Collins' Madison Castelli (the story's heroine) series (see L.A. Connections and Lethal Seduction). She created a very likable character in Michael, Madison's father, in which we learn about who he is and about his life history. She also created, my personal favorite, Vincent Castle. Vincent has a mafia leader presence to him, but doesn't indulge in the things that the stereotypical mafia leaders in other books and on T.V. do (ex: drugs, hookers, cheating), which is a much needed refreshment. This was my frist Jackie Collins and I loved it. Even though there's well over 500 pages, I finsihed it in about three days, which is the usual time frame for me to finish her novels. I await your next novel Ms. Collins with much anticipation, meanwhile I'll devour the handful of your novels that I haven't read yet.
Rating: Summary: HANDS DOWN THE BEST BOOK I HAVE EVER READ!!! Review: I am a male reader who decided to give Jackie Collins a try. And boy she didn't disappoint! This book had everything I was looking for in a good read and more. It was so good that I had cut back on most of my activites just to finish it. Once you began reading you WILL NOT be able to put it down. It's fast-paced, exciting, and unpredictable. Michael Castelli/Castellino is the best character ever written. He's everything I wish I could be and more! I hope Collins writes more about him in the future. I am now buying all of Jackie Collins books, cause she has just recieved herself a new loyal fan in me.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down ! Review: I had such fun reading this book. I couldn't put it down. I had to find out about Madison. I even bought an extra copy for my girlfriend. 'Can't wait for her next book.
Rating: Summary: Is Michael and Madison another Gino and Lucky? Review: I love Jackie Collins' books because they are purely entertainment. I gave this one 4 stars because it does not compare to Chances (her best book ever) but as I said before, if you are looking for a quick, entertaining read then you do not have to go any further than Jackie Collins. She always deliver wacky characters with major problems that somehow get resolved in the end. This story explores more of Madison's background. It focuses on her father who was accused of killing Madison's real mother and who is keeping a secret (he has another family in Vegas) from Madison. I can't help but think that Madison is another version of Lucky. Both Lucky and Madison are beautiful, dark-haired independent women who lose their mother at an early age in tragic circumstance but they still have their father who try to control their lives by shielding them from certain truths. Lucky for us, Madison is also a feisty women who has her own ideas on how to survive in a male-dominated world. The book goes back and forth between all major players in Michael and Madison's world and ties up neatly in the end when everyone learns about each other. The only thing that I would have liked to see in this book would have been more on Madison's boyfriend. He was mentioned once or twice but that was it.
Rating: Summary: you'll HATE it badly if you've read lethal seduction Review: I read lethal seduction which I read and fell madly in love with, then i decided to read this considering its the prequel. 2 words, pure crap/ trash (u're pick). It was highly disappointing. It seemed as if she were rushing to meet a deadline, and just didn't pay as much attention. She focused purely on michael and some drama, she repeated most of the stuff you will know in lethal seduction, it was very annoying, and both I and my aunt hated it, and were pissed of. BUT if you haven't read Lethal Seduction yet, go on and have a blast you'll love it.
Rating: Summary: where's my review!!! Review: I wrote one about a month ago but obviously, it didn't fit Amazon's guidelines. it was the most stupid book i've ever read. I really don't know why you didn't post my review before. I felt I was honest, didn't use any bad language (not that I didn't want to). you just lost a customer.
Rating: Summary: Another Good Summer Read Review: It wouldn't be summer, without a Jackie Collins' book to read. Although I'm still hoping she will write another book about the Santangelos, Deadly Embrace did not disappoint me. Once again, her colorful characters come to life in this fast paced story. I enjoyed it very much. If you are a fan of Jackie Collins, you will not be disappointed......
Rating: Summary: Another page turning thriller Review: Jackie Collins has never written a bad book and she continues her streak with 'Deadly Embrace'. This book reminds me of my favorite Jackie Collins book, 'Chances'. It starts in the present and then goes back many years and keeps flipping from past to present until the story merges into a suspense filled page turning climax. The story is the third book with Madison Castelli, but instead of her being the star of the book it deals with her father Michael and his long time lover Dani. The book is filled wth sex, violence, drugs and many shocking twists and turns. This is certainly a book that is hard to put down has a satisfying ending. I hope there are more books with Madison and Michael Castelli in the future. Aren't we also due for another Lucky Santangelo book?
