Rating: Summary: Great philosophic book. Review: I read Anthem a couple years ago for English,
and ever since, I have become more and more
individualistic. Now I have began studying
and learning existentialism, but I needed Rand
and her objectivism first. Definitely a great
novel...
Rating: Summary: Not by a long-shot Review: This laughably simplistic and pretentious book is predictably loved by Rand fans and scorned by everyone else. Fightened by repression? Read Orwell
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've ever read. Review: No matter what your view of society or what it should be,read this book. It's an interesting take on the moldings of individualism and a world where ever person is one "We".This book won't take too long to read (it only took me a couple of hours), and it really gets you thinking when your done
Rating: Summary: A book that speaks to the very soul of man Review: Ayn Rand has created an incredibly thought-provoking view of the future. Her book is not long, but has ample room to cast forth an important question: What is the ultimate fate of mankind? It is a tale that takes place in a future time, not so far away. It is a time when society has completely destroyed individuality, in exchange for itself. People no longer have a name, and exist only to serve the whole. But one man takes it upon himself to commit the ultimate crime: He awakens individual thought in himself, and dare's to call himself, "I."
Rating: Summary: Excellent Introduction to Rand! Review: This book goes straight to the point of Rand's work and philosophy. It is short, and very interesting. It provides a view of a future that many since Marx have seen as perfect, but is not in any way good. It is the story of a man who escapes from his people and learns to say "I." He learns that there is no reason to be ashamed for being interested in his own happiness. Definitely reccomended for those who dare to think for themselves
Rating: Summary: Great book Review: The best book I've ever read. Ayn Rand's writing style makes this one of the best, if not best, book ever. Even if you are against individualism, you should read this. It will only take you a few hours
Rating: Summary: Truley Amazing book, worth the price!! Review: This book is great. It is the best representation of what life could quite possibly be like in the near future.
If you are in to those books of discovery you must read this very insightful and entertaining book.I belive it worth every peny you pay for it.
Rating: Summary: Anthem is wonderful Review: This book is wonderful. It is a marvelous representation of an altruist nation in the future. It shows the forced idea of society before man, and the society's loss due to its government. This book shows the emotion of one man who discovers the past, and is forever enlightened
Rating: Summary: I think this Book was Truly Awesome...unbelievable Review: I thought this book was truly a great book, I admire the terse attitude in this classic story. It was an ingenius idea
Unbelievable
Rating: Summary: Simple expression of Rand's major theme Review: A short, simple book describing a dystopian future where
individualism is viewed as so evil that the singular
pronouns have been eliminated form the language. Essentially an introduction to themes Rand later explored in much more
depth in The Fountainhead and Atlas Shrugged. This book is
a good starting point for those dismayed by the length of
the later novels.
