Rating: Summary: total fluff Review: After being told I simply had to try this author, it was severely disappointed. I thought it was going to be a tightly-written thriller. Instead I got a book that when it was amusing, was in a juvenile sort of way, and utterly lacking in suspense. I was also appalled at the way that killing, rape and setting people on fire was dealt with as if it were amusing, when sadly, there are a lot of crimes out there comitted like sickos like that, and it is anything but funny for the families. In fact, as I write this, I wonder at myself for being 'entertained' by stories of sick criminal types. they certainly abound in this book, though entertained is not what I felt. more like offended and disgusted. A light weight bit of fluff that deserves mass market at best, certainly not hardcover.
Rating: Summary: Watch out Stephanie is back for more laughs Review: Stephanie Plum is back again and this time she has to bring in an FTA that she knows that she can't get. When she first hears about it she knows she could find him but bringing him would be another issue. Ranger has skipped bail and wanted and Vinnie thinks the only person to bring him would be Stephanie.Stephanie manages to get herself into a lot of trouble in this book, but when doesn't she get herself into situations where she is in trouble or causing trouble. When her grandmother moves in with her thinks nothing could be worse. No time for Moralli to come over and hang out and no time for anything fun with her grandmother around. When all of a sudden after helping a friend out she finds herself with a dog named Bob who is huge and eats her out of house and home. What could be worse, living with her grandmother or living with Bob. With the hunt for Ranger going Stephanie has two strange men following her around and waiting for her to find Ranger. Things only get messier from there. She manages to find herself in places that she shouldn't be. But she does manage to figure out a lot of stuff and go from there. Stephanie Plum is a riot of laughter and her grandmother, Lula, Connie and the rest of her wacky friends only add to it. I can't wait to read the next two books in this series.
Rating: Summary: Enjoyable Review: I purchased this book because of the cliff hanger in High Five. I needed to know if she picked Ranger or Morelli. I didn't think this was quite as good as High Five but still found it enjoyable. The character Stephanie Plum is likable and extremely funny.
Rating: Summary: Fantastic Comedic Mystery! Review: This was my first of the series. Why I started with Hot Six, I have no clue but you better believe I will pick up Seven Up and Hard Eight as soon as I can. Jersey bounty hunter Stephanie Plum does not have the best of luck. She turns down the job to bring in fellow hunter Ranger but finds herself on his tail for other reasons. Ranger is wanted in connection with the murder of Homer Ramos whose family is in the business of dealing guns. Problem is, Homer found himself in someone elses business as well. In a town where the families of organized crime are described as "dis-organized" you better believe that the chase that ensues is quite comical. In addition to the case with Ranger, Stephanie's other jobs bring more giggles than ever. When Stephanie Plum brings in a skip, the police know they are in for a laugh! Evanovich is a master and brings in more bizarre characters in one neighborhood than you will believe. In the heart of a mystery, she knows just when to dish out a joke. Thouroughly enjoyable!
Rating: Summary: The best one yet! Review: I have been working my way through the Stephanie Plum series, and I think this is the best one of the first six by FAR! Stephanie Plum is funnier than ever in her wacky bounty hunter adventures. And both Ranger and Joe seem HOTTER than ever! I can't wait to get the next one! Highly recommended for anyone who's looking for something light, fun, and hilarious.
Rating: Summary: Stephanie Plum - You Make My Day Review: Ms. Evanovich has a writing style that is simply one of the best. She is quite clever, amazingly funny and knows how to incorporate the element of intrigue to keep the pages turning. This is not a serious mystery story - so if you aren't into comedy...don't waste your time here. This is not a book for anyone that takes life too seriously. Now if you are wanting a fun read.... check it out. Hot Six is a clever comedic story that includes a half-baked mystery plot, a wacky but relate-able romance, with some skrewball characters. The story moves at such a quick pace that you won't want to put the book down. (Unless of course your sense of humor is a bit too serious, then forget it). Stephanie Plum will make you laugh - REALLY laugh - so if you are reading in public - be prepared for those around you to notice you are reading this book.
Rating: Summary: Halarious, sexy, and captivating. Review: I picked up Hot Six on a summer vacation, the store didn't have the other five in the series. Stephanie Plum is SO funny, I actually laughed out loud. The storyline followed something I might have seen on a happier Law and Order. It was awesome. The characters were incredable, I fell in love with all of them. And this book was no without a bit of romance, but not the sappy kind . . . the real kind. This book was so great, that I went out and bought all of the other books in the series. I'm waiting for no. 1 to come in so I can start from the beginning. I totally recommend this book to everyone who wants to get lost in a funny, sexy, and dangerous world.
Rating: Summary: funny, fast paced and fan-tastic..... Review: Read Hot Six and you will join the growing group of Evanovich fans!!! Stephanie Plum is a young woman working for an uncle as a bond agent aka bounty hunter. Stephanie approaches her job in a professional manner. Even when she knows she has stepped outside her "comfort" zone of her abilities she plows on through, making it up as she goes along. When everything points to someone she knows intimately as the possible killer and arsonist, she doggedly pursues the truth in her usual fashion. The characters that live and work around Stephanie Plum are the most crazy collection of strange and idiosyncratic people gathered in one story. (They tie with the Hiaasen books!!) Hot Six is filled with funny conversations, excellent one-liners and laugh out loud incidents that keep the story running along at a rapid pace and the reader thoroughly enjoying the creative work of Janet Evanovich!!
Rating: Summary: Better than High Five Review: Hot Six is like a breath of fresh air after going through the suffocating smog that called itself High Five. Stephanie's sixth outing is slightly better than her fifth. For one thing, the romance sub-plot is not so prominent here as in the previous book. The humour which made the series popular is also back. Along with Grandma Mazur there's the Mooner, the Dealer and two vicious but thoroughly incompetent thugs who all guest star as Hot Six's comic casts. Mind you, they are not there just for the laughs. All of them are somehow essential to the overall plot. The plot, as with all Stephanie Plum books, is not really important. It never has been. We read the books for the humour and/or the romance. In book six the humour level is up a notch and the romance down a notch, thank goodness. That made reading the 300-odd pages a breeze. Better than High Five but not as good as One for the Money. So I'm giving it 3 stars.
Rating: Summary: Evanovich at her best Review: _Hot Six_ was the first book in the Plum series that I read, and I loved it so much that I went back and caught up on the rest of the series in short order, and then read _Hot Six_ again - Evanovich has a singular talent, and is now one of my favorite authors. Not every Plum book is a gem, but all are enjoyable. _Hot Six_, much like _One for the Money_, showcases how funny and human Evanovich's writing can be. As I read this book, I laughed out loud many times, chuckled in self-recognition more than a little, and vicariously felt Stephanie Plum's frustration and awkwardness; Evanovich has done an excellent job of writing another book that can completely envelope the reader. It can be a very quick read, as the story flows exceptionally well and kept my interest rivetted, even the second time around - the second time I read it, I stayed up all night after starting it at 10pm and didn't put it down until 5am. The heat between Stephanie and Ranger gets turned up a few notches in several places, and Morelli definitely isn't out of the picture, so the little love triangle becomes interesting. The plot doesn't feel forced or contrived, and it felt like Evanovich really enjoyed writing this one - there are several unexpected quirks to the story that are very enjoyable, including a gun-running boss that Stephanie is supposed to be spying on jumping into her car and asking her to sneak him to the bar, a huge, friendly dog named Bob becoming a part of Stephanie's life, Grandma Mazur moving in with her, and a surprise from Morelli at the end of the book, though I'm waffling on whether or not I want it to turn out the way Evanovich alludes it will. This is better-than-average for the genre, and anyone who has enjoyed previous Evanovich books should really like _Hot Six_ tremendously.
