Rating: Summary: Stephanie Plum is back! Review: Janet Evanovich outdoes herself yet again in Stephanie Plums sixth thriller. Fans of Evanovich won't be disappointed when the mystery man at the door at the end of HIGH FIVE is quickly revealed, but Stephanie is quickly on to another thrilling mystery. This time Ranger is wanted for murder and it's up to her to help clear his name. Once again, lots and lots of laughs, including many highly entertaining new characters. (not to mention a new twist is thrown in at the end. guess we'll have to wait until book seven to have that answered) Highly recommended
Rating: Summary: Keeps Getting Better Review: The series starts with ONE FOR THE MONEY, then TWO FOR THE DOUGH, THREE TO GET DEADLY, FOUR TO SCORE, HIGH FIVE, and now HOT SIX. Delightful reading obscessions that are followed by an impulse contagion--Evanovich writes the singular type of book that you will want to share with everyone you know. Thoughful, well-planned mysteries, then add suspense, tension, and humbling, laugh-out-loud humor that keeps this story and all the Stephanie Plum series in Amazon.com's Top 100 sells! Stephanie Plum is a hilarious bounty-hunter, former lingerie retailer, trying to make ends meet. In this particular story she is coaxed into capturing her bounty-hunter mentor--possible love interest--who has gone FTA--Failure To Appear at trial. But what about Joe Morelli, the cop, the guy from her teenage crush years? Enjoy!
Rating: Summary: SHE'S HOT! Review: The best Stephanie story to date. Absolutely laugh outloud funny.
Rating: Summary: Definitely not her best. Review: In the past three weeks I have read all the Stephanie Plum books. At the end of each one I eagerly grabbed the next. Not so with the sixth (which is a good thing, I guess, since the seventh won't be out for quite a while). It is funny and the characters and some of the scenes are memorable, but it just doesn't have the fire that the previous books did. One problem is that the three main characters seem so watered down. Morelli and Ranger have lost the element of sexy surprise they had in the previous books. Stephanie's reactions to the crazy and dangerous things that happen through the story are oddly subdued. However, you will probably get a big kick out of the book. I read it in an evening and will certainly read the next when it comes out. It just isn't as good as the others, which I thought were great fun.
Rating: Summary: Yes, it's addictive.... Review: I really think this is Book 5 Part 2. Evanovich's heroine, Stephanie is sassy and smartarsed, and a lot of fun. Reading the books is addictive. BUT, the formula seams are starting to show. Like all 'series books' there is a huge audience to satisfy, and I am afraid that , for me, this was a bit too much 'more of the same'. All the elements are in place: the sexual tension between Steph and Morelli, and Ranger. That Evanovich manages to spin that conundrum out so long is testament to her skill as a former romance genre writer! There's the dumb petty crims, the stoopid baddies, the slippery customer (in this case literally) who refuses to come quietly, the car explosions, Gramna's schtik, Mom still baking roast dinners and cakes, and silent Dad. I am afraid it has become a bit too join-the-dots, and it doesn't elicit the same belly laughs I had from Books 1, 2 and 3. There's a lot to be said for the showbiz saying "Leave them wanting more" and I think Evanovich should either let Steph have a rest for a while OR take a risk and do some major renovation. Spring some surprises - kill off a favourite character, have something really unexpected happen....might help save the series. As it stands, I'd say you can wait for the paperback or reserve it at the library, rather than rush out and buy as the book hits the stand, which is how I felt in the early days...
Rating: Summary: HYSTERICAl! Review: Janet's funniest book yet.Stephanie is at her all time best, along with her wacky grandmother, strange but endearingneighborhood charachters,a new family addition, the irrepressableDamn Skippy Lula and of course (sigh) Joe Morelli! A steal at twice the price.
Rating: Summary: This book is a "plum" Review: Sorry. I hate puns. But I couldn't resist the title for the review. Steph is into her usual series of temptations - Joe - Ranger - jelly donuts - spying on dangerous people - etc. Granny is a character not to be missed in this book. Steph's Mom can't figure out who to cross herself first about - her mother or her daughter. Throw in a big dog named Bob - and all of the usual characters who populate Steph's life - and you have the receipe for another thoroughly entertaining novel. A mystery gets solved - Steph may or may not be heading for the alter - Granny gets her drivers license and things will continue to play out in the next installment, for which we will all be ready and waiting to one click our order. A really entertaining writer.
Rating: Summary: Do yourself a favor - READ IT! Review: If you don't pick up another book this year, grab this one. I just finished "Hot Six" and I'm still smiling. Last year I was furious when I finished "High Five" and realized I would have to wait for this book to find out who was knocking at Stephanie's door. It was so much worse than waiting to find out who shot J.R. Ewing! But the wait proved worthwhile. I took the book with me to get my hair done this morning and really did embarrass myself as I couldn't stop laughing out loud. As usual, Janet Evanovich manages to keep her story moving at a brisk pace and keep us up to date with all of our favorite Trenton residents. (Knowing Grandma Mazur is driving is one really good reason to stay out of Trenton though. Especially when you know she's always packing!) I don't want to give away anything, but Janet, could you please hurry up with Book Seven? Give up those book signing tours, just keep writing! Damn skippy!
Rating: Summary: As Good As It Gets! Review: This was the first Evanovich book I picked up after reading some of the revues. It has definitely not been my last! I immediately bought "High Five" and now am reading "four" with "three" waiting! This book will keep you in stitches! It's a perfect summer read. I highly recommend it.
Rating: Summary: funny but.... Review: I enjoyed reading this and have to admit to laughing out loud at some parts, however it could be just as funny without the bad language. I have a 13 year old that loves to read and I cannot let him read this due to the continous bad language. The book is sillier than her others too, therefore, based on these two things, I probably won't buy her next book - instead rent it from the library and if the language is still offensive, I probably won't be reading her anymore..
