Rating: Summary: Rush Hour German Review: I bought this about a month before going on my honeymoon to Europe (most of which was in Germany and Austria). It helped tremendously. I listened to it every day on the commute to and from work, and by the time we landed in Frankfurt I was able to get around reasonably well. I especially liked how, unlike most foreign language tapes, it did not require you to keep up with a written book (always difficult when you are driving). My only issue with it was that it tended to focus more on dating someone who speaks German rather than traveling to a German speaking country.

Rating: Summary: Silly but effective! Review: My husband and I are preparing for a trip to Germany this summer. I got this out of the library, and we love it! We're amazed to find how many phrases we've retained after just a few listens, thanks to the silly but catchy songs. We're always singing them to each other. As other reviewers have pointed out, it may have made sense to include more travel-related material, but nevertheless we've been very pleased with these CDs.
Rating: Summary: Good stuff . . . Review: Rush Hour German covers all the basics in a fun way! Each lesson leads up to the next as it builds your vocabulary. In between the lessons are catchy songs that stay with you. In quickly helps you order from a menu, talk on the phone, purchase train tickets, ask for directions, and more.

Rating: Summary: Good stuff . . . Review: Very good. I learned the rudiments of German with this in my car on the way to and from work. It certainly helps to have an engaging storyline with which to learn a language and this set of CD's was very beneficial. I used this for a month before going to Germany with my wife and found I could get by fairly well. There should have been more on food, places, and travel than on family and work, but I guess Berlitz wanted to cover a broad base. Although some of the songs helped the memorization of phrases, others were hard to understand because of large words and a rapid succession of new words and expressions. Definitely worth the money.
