Rating: Summary: A memorable trio of possible romance. Review: Things are heating up with Ranger, and Joe is standing by ready for action. Life keeps getting in the way of Stephanie's love life. Her first FTA (failure to appear) is a Midget that has decided to take up residence in her household, after our female bounty hunter has delivered him to reschedule his court date. A nasty little fiend, he adds to the story like all of Evanovich's ancillary characters do. Preposterous and silly at times they will keep you laughing. The bounty hunter buisness is slow so Stephanie goes to work for Ranger to pick up a bit of extra money on the side. She finds herself parking her whale of a Buick and driving, first a Porsche and then a BMW, both "company cars" are headed for an early demise, but then you knew that didn't you. The fun never ends and every page is better than the next. If you are lucky enough to listen to the CD version of the book there is a telling interview with the author at the end. Rex the hamster is safe in future episodes, and Stephanie has a lot more cars to blow up. Kelsana 3/17/02
Rating: Summary: Entertaining and Funny Review: This book was fantastic. It had mystery, romance and was absolutely hilarious. I loved it until the very last page.
Rating: Summary: Funny, Quirky Characters Review: My sister recommended Janet Evanovich and the Plum series to me, telling me that my writing reminds her of Ms. Evanovich's style. So, I was interested, but not disappointed and actually honored to be compared to her. Ms. Evanovich has quickly become one of my favorite authors. Her characters and dialogue are hilarious. Grandma Mazur is a hoot, the little person Randy Briggs is hilarious, and Lula, the former hooker, boggles the mind! Ms. Evanovich now gives us a triangle involving Stephanie Plum, her boyfriend Joe Morelli, and Ranger, the mystery man. I had such a fun time reading this book. You can't get any better than this!
Rating: Summary: More of a good thing Review: Buy two of these - one to keep and read again and one to give to a friend who needs a laugh. Ms. Evanovich is consistent and consistently funny.
Rating: Summary: Slight slowing of the pace at first.. but the tension builds Review: as does the pacing. And it satisfies completely yet leaves you hungry for more!
Rating: Summary: the best so far Review: This one was really great.
Rating: Summary: Lost a little of the shine, but still worth multiple giggles Review: I started off wanting to give this book three stars, but I couldn't in all honesty do it. I might think it's a three-star book, but I really enjoyed it like a four-star book. Evanovich is one of the most engaging writers out there, and even though it seems like she reaches a little bit too far in places to get the laughs, I still laughed. Stephanie Plum's career as a bounty hunter is stalled, so she decides to do a little extra work of dubious legality for Ranger while looking for her missing Uncle Fred. Rude jokes, car explosions, and bad hair galore.
Rating: Summary: Humorous bounty hunter strikes again! Review: Stephanie Plum, intrepid bounty hunter, is puzzled by the disappearance of her Uncle Fred. At the family's request, she begins an investigation into the matter. At the same time, her career is at a standstill as there are no fugitives for her to hunt. In desperation, she begins working for Ranger, a more experienced bounty hunter who moonlights by participating in some suspicious activities. He keeps presenting Stephanie with cars, and she keeps destroying them. Her new and closer relationship with Ranger has sometime cop boyfriend Joe Morelli a bit concerned. A clever ending keeps the reader wondering which of these two men Stephanie has chosen. As usual the book is full of hilarious characters, including Grandma Mazur, who has a penchant for attending funerals, and Lula, a former prostitute who is Stephanie's bounty-hunter-in-training. For a laugh-a-minute with a little bit of mystery thrown in, this series is highly recommended.
Rating: Summary: Getting Predictable Review: I like Evanovich's humor - one star. I like her odd and very real life characters - two stars. I like her setting for these stories - three stars. She sure knows how to make me chuckle and how to draw a word picture of a sexy man - four stars. (I can't decide between Joe Morelli and Ranger for Stephanie.) My problem with her books is that the behavior of this principal character, Stephanie Plum, is becoming predictable. We can count on her to do something extremely stupid, thus endangering herself and others, at just the moment when she should truly know better. I find that sort of predictability annoying - no fifth star.
Rating: Summary: High Five Review: Each of these books by Evanovich gets better and better!! I just LOVE Grandma. The books combine great humor with off-the-wall characters. Start with the first book & read them all.
