Summary: Clear and Present Danger
Review: This book is the best Clancy's book and maybe even best book ever I've read. Although Jack Ryan doesn't appear before first 100 pages and it's arguable, if he is the main caharacter at all, like in most of Clancy's other books - John Clark and Ding Chavez have also great part in the book, it is such a pleasure to read so acton-packed book with also great sophistication in armament. And Felix Cortéz is the best bad guy character I've ever met. I'll probably have to read it again someday, it's such a brilliant book.

Summary: Amazing, clancy does it again
Review: this man is amazing. I have read 5 of his books and this is the best (RAINBOW 6 comes close). I love how he builds up the plot and blows you away with a few hundred pages of pure action. if you can stay with the names (i got Cutter and Ritter mixed up a few times) this is a great book for you.

Summary: The Bestselling Author of Hunt For Red October Does It Again
Review: The book, Clear And Present Danger, by Tom Clancy is quite possibly the greatest book I've ever read. This book is about the adventures of Staff Seargent Ding Chavez as he accompanies a team of light infantry men on a covert operation to sting the drug Cartel of South America. A secret agent named John Clark is the information specialist who provides the team with targets. The modern day U.S. government sees the drug Cartel as "clear and present danger" to the security of the United States. Throughout this action-packed book there are many exciting and unexpected happenings that leave the reader on the edge of their seat.

Tom Clancy had to spend years creating this truly fascinating, yet adventurous book; it would have been impossible not to. It would be a grave mistake not to read this book. If you make that mistake, I'm sorry. If I were you, I would by this book right now, on Amazon.com.

Summary: A good read - Great to see how Chavez comes into play
Review: If justice is to be done, Tom Clancy must never again allow one of his books to become movies, at least without his approval of the script.

This book hits high political realities as well as documenting our countries frustration with drugs, and who is to ultimately blame for them; the user or the seller.

In classic Clancy style, the book takes you along the road of conspiracy, espionage, murder, and war, and just as it does that, Clancy throws the political realities in the middle and the reader is left to shake his head and wonder what can be done about the drugs coming into our country.

The ending fits together a little to nicely for me, not to mention that Clark does some uncharacteristic things. All in all it's a good read. A must for Clancy lovers of all stripes.

Summary: BEST BOOK OF ALL TIME!!!!!!!
Review: Listen...... ok, some of you out there have seen this movie. well the book blows it out of the water, and then some. I personally liked the movie. but the book is awesome. Unlike the movie, this is not all about Jack Ryan. It talks a lot about all the characters. Ding Chavez is introduced in this book. he is a realy cool character. His friends ( in his squad ) like Vega and Leon are cool too. there is TONS of action. you just need to wait a little while. There are a bunch of battles that are so discriptive, that you feel you are there. You learn a lot about weaoons, tactics, military, fighting, and much, much more. If you read this book and didn't like it,i pitty you. THIS WAS AWESOME!!!!!!

Summary: Why am I adding to 60 reviews?
Review: 'Cause I think there's a LITTLE more to say! This is not a super-patriotic book; on the other hand it IS heavy in detail and there are just a few too many plotlines, IMHO. If you have the patience to skim through a bit of technical jargon, however, this is a great action novel!

The facts behind this story are these: in the late '80's Colombian druglord Pablo Escobar blew up a plane with 3 American nationals aboard. He wasn't interested in them but in a Columbian who had crossed him! George Bush responded by creating a secret unit of Colombian commandos dedicated to taking out the druglords. Despite many casualties Escobar was finally cornered on the roof of his Bogata mansion and riddled with assault-rifle bullets. The squad went on to mop up the Medellin and Cali drug cartels - but of course, new narco-trafficers simply stepped in!

Clancy gives us a fictional version with perhaps a few too many reasons to consider military intervention, and his commandos are U.S. Army Rangers, using satellite uplinks to call in laser-guided missile strikes - this is definitely a novel for techno-freaks! CIA agent Ryan's (almost) single-handed rescue of the survivors, and a U.S. Secretary of State flying down to hobnob with a rogue Cuban Colonel, are a bit hard to swallow; still, this is a ripping yarn!
