Summary: Awesome book
Review: Most of the people who have reviewed the book and not liked it got confused with all of the sub-plots and the "flat" characters. Ding's and Clark's attitude in this book are essential for the other books. To fully get some of the lines in the book you have to read the other books in the Jack Ryan series. I've read all of them and I highly recommend them to anyone. These are amazing books by an amazing author.

Summary: Probably Clancy's best book
Review: This is probably Clancy's best book. It is a nice tight action packed story without the usual worthless subplots. It doesn't have the heavy handed patriotism of most of Clancy's other books. This book is deeper because there is a lot of questionable, ruthless government activity that isn't glorified or praised.

This book has the best character development of any of Clancy's book. Clancy's most interesting, best rounded character is introduced in this book-Ding. (No, it's not John Clark/Kelly, although he is also at his best in this book.) Unfortonately, Clancy will flatten them out in later books.

This book is unusual. Clancy's strength is war games and the techno thriller. He usually falls flat on his face when he departs from that formula (Without Remorse, Sum of All Fears, Cardinal of the Kremlin, and most of Executive Orders). But this book is about the Drug Wars, only has a small section of war games and is still a very interesting story.

Summary: PEDRO'S REVIEW
Review: Clear and Present Danger is the finest Clancy book ever written. Before reading this book I enjoyed the series thoroughly but now I am in love with it. This book combines the mystery and suspense of the finest Sherlock Holmes tale, the action of a Stallone movie, and a series of excellent interpersonal relationships and back stories. The genius of Clancy is that he makes the reader care about and believe in his characters, and this book is the pinnacle of his genius

Summary: Excellent book, action and suspense
Review: This book is so good. The action is exciting, and you are always on the edge of your seat wondering how the battle is going to end. Also, Clancy is obviously anti-drug, with both this book and Without Remorse. Buy this book, it is a must-have Clancy, without a doubt.

Summary: WOW....Be Blown Away
Review: I was an avid SF reader untill I read Clear and Present Danger. This was my first Clancy book and I plan on reading them all now. I wasn't able to put this book down it just kept me so caught up in the story I kept reading untill I was done. If you want to be blown away read this book!

Summary: Dull.....
Review: I guess I'm not a great fan of Clancy. I loved Red Storm Rising though, because of it's abundance of military knowledge, action, suspense and plot. I mean that is a book that has a huge amount of content and justifies being 1000 pages long. But all of his other books, including CAPD are 250 page novels expanded with boring tedious detail. Someone should go to his books cut out all the needless blurb and release it. I would buy it as it's clear there is a good plot at work, but following it is like reading through treacle.

Summary: A Review On "Clear and Present Danger"
Review: Murder, covert operations within the government, drugs, and the few risking their lives to stop it all are what you'll find in Tom Clancy's Clear and Present Danger. Drugs are being imported into the U.S. and the American people aren't very approving. In an attempt to stop the influx of narcotics and increase his popularity for the upcoming election, the President has begun a series of covert operations. There is one man the government is out to get, Felix Cortez, and just how they're going to do it isn't quite clear yet. Dr. Ryan is out to stop the operations before they get out of control and out to the public, but just how and why would he do something like that? Clancy stories, many about government and military operations, range from futuristic (Net Force) to present, it-could-happen type novels (Rainbow Six, Clear and Present Danger). His style is to explain every last word and situation in the beginning and leave you to fend for yourself towards the end. He is deep into detail and dedicated to giving you all the background information. This causes the stories to start off slowly. As you continue on in the book, references become less and less explained and the story picks up faster. Even when he explains in his novel some of the military terms and procedures, if you're not familiar with them on an intimate level, it can get pretty challenging. Clear and Present Danger is no exception. Clancy is, nonetheless, an expert writer and storyteller. His ability to surround you with the sights and sounds within the book are extraordinary. I would give this book about an average score of three out of five. The beginning gets a rank of about two, not for detail and clarity, but for lack of suspense or action. Clancy has created catchier openings. The end of the book gets about a four for suspense and interesting twists, but again, he's created more absorbing closings. Clear and Present Danger, in my opinion, was only middle of the road. Tom Clancy, though talented, has written better works.

Summary: Timeless application
Review: "Clear and Present Danger" explores the ramifications of leaders who use their office as a platform for personal agenda: This is a fictional account of the lives lost as a result, and the moral courage neccessary to counteract cowardice at the highest level of government, which finds its corallary in the countless historical accounts of leaders who's moral failures led to massive destruction.

The book also raises some good questions about covert international intervention, and fleshes out the personal character-centered nature of such endeavors. Similar covert action is present in many of Clancy's other novels, but here the crucial nature of motive is most clearly presented.

This is a good study in leadership, as well as an excellent patriotic thriller and an entertaining read.

Summary: Terrific!
Review: This was a great book. After reading Rainbow 6 i picked this book up and was NOT disappointed it was wonderfully written and has Ryan and his darker side Mr. Clark. The movie was well done but this book is FAR better. My recommendation is read the books in order. Without Remorse first though.

Summary: clear and present danger
Review: I really enjoyed this book. I especially like books with Chavez or Clark in it. If you love good action and a great book, read this. Chavez is mainly in this the most. I love his character and his expert shot. A great book.
