Review: Timeline is a great book that explodes with energy from the very beginning. It is about a group of historians who travel back in time to bring back their professor. From the very start, things go wrong. The two guides are killed in their first minutes of getting there and the only machines they have to get back in are destroyed. In a race against time they rescue the professor and manage to bring him back safely. The book is very fast paced and interesting. The theme of this book is to never hold back and always finish what you start. I liked the characters a lot. There were a lot of characters to remember, but it wasn't too confusing. I thought the book was very well written and would recommend it to anyone.

Summary: What a marvelous read!
Review: I've been to the Dordogne (got lost in Domme, the walls have more than one exit), love history and think this novel is a real work of genius. I read it all night, I read it all the next day. I forgot to take the laundry out of the washer. I forgot to get the mail. After awhile, I felt like I needed a magic button to help me escape from the Middle Ages. Inventive, creative, scholarly and fun.

Review: I liked the premise of this book, having been turned on to quantum physics back in college. The notion of parallell universes & outcomes was intriguing. The plot develops quite nicely & the characters are believable. This book makes for great reading on an airplane.

Summary: One of the best......
Review: Being a computer geek myself I enjoyed this book thoroughly. The first time I read it was in a plane (started in LAX, actually. LA's airport). I was on my way to Chicago from Australia, and from Chicago I was going down to South America. I found this book on a seat, in LA airport and begun to read. It caught my attention straight away, and from the first time I begun to read it, I could not stop until I finished it. It honestly took me about 12 hours to read. So, if I have to recomend this book, here I am, doing so. I love the scientific explanations, I enjoyed the plot, and it had a great ending.
All in all, I'll give it five stars.

Summary: A 400 page car chase.
Review: With about 50 pages to go, I gave up on this one, not caring what happened to any of the boring heroes and villains of this tedious, repititious work. I love time travel science fiction, but even so, this book did little to excite me. About all we learn about the inhabitants of fourteenth century France is that they were a bunch of vicious barbarians, albeit more advanced scientifically than we might have thought. Otherwise, the parts of the book set in the past are a long and tiresome series of contrived near-disasters and escapes that eventually blend together to where they're indistinguishable. The amoral executives of the scientific company set in the present day are stock action movie characters. This is not one of Michael Crichton's better efforts.

Summary: thrilling cinematic adventure
Review: This is the twelfth book I've read by Michael Crichton and it's one of my favorites. It's about a small band of historians that travel back in time, namely 14th-century feudal France, to rescue their professor who is trapped there. The story kicks into high gear around page 160 and never lets up. There are countless swordfights, numerous chases, jousting matches and a thrilling climax during a siege of a castle. As usual Crichton has thoroughly researched his subject matter. Granted the time travel aspect is pure fantasy but he makes it seem almost plausible through quantum theory. The bulk of his research is centered on life in medieval times and it's within this setting that the story really takes off. Though Crichton is not known for showing much character depth, that one drawback hardly hurts this book. This is a very exciting tale with movie written all over it. (JANUARY 2000)

Review: This book was about what I expected it to be. The scientific explanations seemed to be reaching in some parts, but over all it was a great book. Deeply captavating and quickly read, this will bring out your interests in both quantum physics and history. Not as good as some of his others, but a recommended read.

Review: It seems that Chichton tried to write a historical fiction novel. If that's what you were looking for, this book is great for you. That isn't what I was expecting.

Summary: Great action sequences
Review: I really enjoyed the book. Although one can see it is definately written for the masses, it really kept me glued. I finished it in two sessions. The action sequences are very high tempo and keeps on for quite a few pages. I bet the movie will out soon?
