Rating: Summary: Simply marvelous! Review: I love E. Lynn and I loved this book. I was so happy to see Raymond back and see Basil living right. E. Lynn always keep things real. That's all I can say....it was great!
Rating: Summary: What a comeback! Review: Once again, E. Lynn Harris dazzles us with his characters in his newest book. You gotta love Raymond Tyler with his positive, yet confused soul. And Basil? What would the book be without Basil and his misadventures, although things take a more positive turn for both him and Raymond in this novel. There are a few newer characters making a showing as well as some old favorites, including the villainess Ava Middlebrooks, mother of Yancey B (remember?) I read this in 3 days, it is a MUST READ. Sistas, bring this book with you to your next hair appointment as you wait and trust me, you won't put it down!!
Rating: Summary: He does it again...And again...and again Review: Yet another one of E. Lynn's books that follows the lives of super sexy Basil(can we get a better picture) and down to earth Raymond. Some advice for Zola- When you see love in your face, accept it. The books follows new and old characters in New Yorks and even though this is in the 2000's, feels dated like the 80's. I am a fan of E. Lynn and will buy his books but am looking forward to him getting over Basil(although he might be all that, he is old enough to be MY FATHER), Raymond(too many issues to be 40 bru), Zola(keep doing what you are doing...freshing new and one of the best of E. Lynn's characters), Jabar(DAMN). All in all the book was fantastic even if it is still a little too hard to believe at times and the characters seem to deal with their issues differently than normal people but I guess that is why it is a BOOK.
Rating: Summary: What Else Can Be Said, Except The Best Review: This is going to be brief because everyone has already said it. E Lynn has never ever disappointed me and this time was no different. The only reason I didnt finish in one day was because I wanted to savor every page. I was so sorry to finish because what do you pick up immediately following one of E. Lynn's book. Please dont ever stop this series.
Rating: Summary: Need sequel....now!!! Review: I am not surprised because E. Lynn Harris is the bomb. He never lets me down and he has indeed done it again. Please don't make us wait too long for the sequel. I can't wait to see how the lives of Raymond and Zola pan out. Jabar is definitely a character worth working on and expanding in the sequel and it would be great to have a fairy tale wedding because Zola deserves it. She was a great new character who I'd enjoyed reading about. Thanks again for the "rip roaring ride" you never fail to take us on, E. Lynn!
Rating: Summary: AMAZING Review: I just finished this book and it is truly AMAZING. I can't beleive how each book just gets better and better. I was so happy to see everyone get a true love. It really made my heart glad that Raymond and Basil are together at last.
Rating: Summary: E. Lynn Harris Rises To The Top Again Review: All I have to say is get the book. This book has drama from beginning to end. I was so glad to see Raymond back as one of the main characters. He is by far my favorite. Once you start reading you won't be able to put it down. I finished it in two days and now I can't wait to see what will happen in the next book. I have read all of his books and this one just makes me want more. E. Lynn Harris keep writing and I will keep buying.
Rating: Summary: Always a standing "O" Review: Raymond Taylor has returned to New York to accept a position as CEO of "Bling, Bling" Magazine. After spending seven years in Seattle, Washington with his partner, Trent, Raymond once again finds himself in search for a Love of His Own. At Bling,Bling, we meet Zola Norwood, a smart, sexy, and ambitious woman who want to make it own her on. Raymond and Zola quickly become friends and the story begins to unfold with lots of drama. As always, Harris can not forget Basil Henderson, Yancy B and her mother Madam Ava. There isn't much that can be said about E. Lynn Harris that has not already been said. He has a gift for story telling. "A Love of my Own" was a page turner. I loved the way the Harris can tell a story and incorporate that facts from today, death of Aaliyah and the tragedy of 9/11, which helps to make the reader feel that they are part of the story. Harris also stress that importance of family, friends, and forgives as well as the importance of finding a love of your own. Peace and Blessings!!
Rating: Summary: A Love Of My Own Is Off The Chain!!! Review: I have read every one of E. Lynn Harris' books and have enjoyed each one of them, but A Love Of My Own is by far my favorite. Not only does E. Lynn bring back one of my favorite characters, Raymond Tyler, but he introduces his readers to a new one, the young, ambitious, and indomitable Zola Denise Norwood. Although Zola is a bit disillusioned when it comes to her faith in love (due to a devastating event in her past), you can't help but admire her drive with regard to her career. She is a strong Black woman who reeks of pure feminine finesse. Raymond, too, is as lovable as he always was. Having moved back to New York after a painful event in his life, he is reunited with his friend, John Basil Henderson (my all-time favorite E. Lynn character) and the sparks fly once more. Raymond is CEO of the magazine where Zola is Editor-in-Chief, and they gain a mutual respect and admiration for one another that turns into a genuine friendship. I think A Love Of My Own is some of E. Lynn's best writing. He beautifully weaves real life events into his story with taste and classs (the death of the beautiful Aaliyah and the WTC bombing) and takes his readers back to those sad events in our history and shows us how they also affect his characters. Returning in smaller roles are Yancy B, and her unforgettable mother, Madame Ava. Any of E. Lynn's devoted followers knows that he has a knack for creating characters his readers love to hate. In A Love of My Own he has done that again with Davis McClinton, Zola and Raymond's billionaire boss. But true to form, he also intersperses his books with smart, likeable folks of various ages, races and backgrounds. I can't say enough good things about this book. Really, I could go on for days. I loved it; read in it a few hours (as I have many of E. Lynn's other titles). Keep up the good work, E. Lynn Harris. You have a forever fan in me.
Rating: Summary: What's next Review: Right when you think you know what's going on SURPRISE, E. Lynn changes it again. This book was so wonderful I read it in 2days. E. Lynn has once again delighted his readers with the wonderful tales of his characters. I was so impressed at the end when everyone found A LOVE OF THEIR OWN.
