Rating: Summary: Awesome Reading to say the least . I couldn't put it down! Review: This book is a must read for everyone! It explains alot of the behind the scenes workings of getting the Crossing Over show started. Anyone that is a skeptic about what John can do should read this book too. It may not alleviate your skepticism, but it might just peak your curiosity to find out. Everyone should be looking to seek their own truth about what John is able to do. The educational value he provides to us all as humans about our interactions with the people we love who are on this earth now and after they have crossed over. Invaluable!
Rating: Summary: INSIGHT ON CROSSING OVER Review: THIS BOOK WAS VERY GOOD. JOHN EDWARD GAVE US INSIGHT ON HOW CROSSING OVER CAME TO BE. ANY PERSON WHO DOES NOT BELIVE IN HIM IS CLOSE MINDED. EVERY TIME I SEE HIS SHOW IT MARVELS ME. I BELIVE IN HIM ALL THE WAY.
Rating: Summary: Spirituality without Bombastic-ality Review: "I see dead people" is probably the most repeated movie-line I've heard since Sixth Sense came out. But never before have I had cause to believe that someone might. John Edward has only been recently known to me (it takes a while for TV to catch up Down Under), but from the first Crossing Over, I was immediately drawn in.I have never questioned that what John does is for real, although I may question why anyone wants to connect with "dead" people. John simply cannot be a fraud: who in the world would have enough time and energy to "research" all these tiny little details about people's lives and passed loved ones to stand up in front of a gallery of audience and spout messages from the Great Beyond? Not humanly possible. But spiritually, yes. I am not a religious person, but I am spiritual. And I believe in fate. Never have I considered picking up (let alone reading) a book like this. I believed books on spirituality and mysticism simply self-indulgent (and therefore repulsive). And then comes along Mr. Edward -- and he blows my mind away. I walk into the bookshop, and like the show, it is my husband who leads me to this book. Here is someone, suddenly, unexpectedly, who time and again proves to me that there is more to life than we usually believe. He does so without fanfare and baroque-like picture painting. The man is deadpan, straight, bona fide. Things happen for a reason. A reason bigger than any of us can envisage. This book is simply an exquisite indulgence that allows us to delve shamelessly into John's life and those around him: both here and elsewhere. It outlines some breathtaking happenstances that John has enviably been involved with. Without doubt, here is a person who has a very definite role in life, and after. I have a hundred-and-one questions for John. Someone this interesting inspires intrigue at the very least. Wouldn't he be just to most fascinating person to interview? And as John says in his opening chapter: the very fact that I even picked up the book, is for a reason. Probably at least two in my case, but that is yet to develop.
Rating: Summary: Vibrational!!! Review: I'm not going to go into great detail because so many outstanding reviews have already done a great job of that, so I'll just say I concur! I will say, however, that a) I'm not finished, but cannot put this book down and b) I'm seeing my own "connections" coming through loud and clear on his pages. That's no joke. Every page I turn, there's a new verifiable message right there in black and white: answers to tormenting questions I've had; support for beliefs I've developed; proof positive that things I *thought* were spiritual connections, actually are! Read the book. You will NOT be disappointed!

Rating: Summary: This Psychic is The Real Deal Review: In his book "Crossing Over", John Edward breaks down population attitudes as regards psychic mediums as follows: 20% unquestioning believers, 60% open-minded skeptics, and 20% die-hard non-believers. Prior to reading Edward's book I would have placed myself somewhere on the cusp between skeptics and believers. Having been a fairly regular viewer of Edward's TV show on the Sci-Fi network, I was converted from a healthy skeptic to one who was extremely impressed with the readings he did with gallery members. He appeared to come up with very accurate, specific and often very obscure information that he could not possibly have known unless some shameful duplicity was involved in the proceedings. As far as I could discern, it seemed impossible for any amount of chicanery to have availed Edward with the type of feedback he was providing his bereaved gallery members. For a while I was completely sold on Edward being the bona fide article -until, that is, I contacted via e-mail the professioal skeptics, most notably, the Committee for the Scientific Investigation of Claims of the Paranormal (CSICOP). According to them, Edward is little more than a fast-talking charlatan who uses disreputable techniques such as "cold, warm and hot readings" (whereby the alleged psychic intuits, deduces, or even goes about gathering advanced information on their subjects). In addition, the skeptics (Edward singles out magician "The Amazing Randi")claim that Edward and his staff collect information from audience members by having them fill out cards, and by picking up their conversations with microphones hidden around the studio. In the last chapter of "Crossing Over", Edward does a fine job of demolishing these assertions and demonstrating how they are even more far-fetched than Edward's claims as to what he actually does. Most of "Crossing Over" is devoted to Edward's struggle to gain recognition for the legitimacy and healing value of his work, and the struggle to find a television outlet for his special gift. Throughout, Edward's obvious integrity and honor come shining through. Thus, along with some autobiographical information (probably more of which was covered in his first book, "One Last Time")Edward also relates some of his more provocative and moving readings, including receiving validation from his deceased mother. Particularly affecting is a chapter devoted to the late Carl Perkins, who brings across with him from the other side no less a luminary than Roy Orbison, and -if this doesn't affirm Edward's confidence and assurance in what he does, that he's willing to invite the scorn and ridicule of his detractors - the King himself, Elvis! There is also included a poignant segment involving John Lennon's sending of a message, via a Perkins song, to a deeply affected Paul McCartney. One minor complaint with Edward's book is that he could have organized it better, as he somewhat confusingly jumps around chronologically, so the reader is sometimes not quite sure at what point he is at in Edward's odyssey. However, considering this book's overwhelming import and ultimately joyous, affirming message, that is very petty carping indeed. For it is no exagerration to say that this may be one of the most important books you read in "this" lifetime!
Rating: Summary: Interesting - but not what I hoped for. Review: I was somewhat disappointed with this book. It bills itself as "the stories behind the stories", but mostly it's about John Edward's career as a medium and how he got started in television. I was hoping that it would be more about the stories of the people he read, and of the spirits crossing over, rather than about him. Sure, there are some compelling stories, but that's only about 20% of the book. The other 80% of the book is more of a behind the scenes look at his career.
Rating: Summary: Changed my Catholic perspective of the afterworld Review: Growing up Catholic I was told to stay away from psychics as they are of the devil. But what do you do when you receive such a GIFT and it's obviously from God, as it is good, helps people, heals people, and causes no harm? This book and seeing Mr. Edward in person changed my whole perspective on life and afterlife. John Edward is very much a man of God. I have also witnessed him in one of his seminars and he is, without a doubt, for real. No cold reading here; he goes right to the details. He also helps educated others on how to use their own repressed abilities to do this work. This book was very easy reading, entertaining, enlightening, and educational.
Rating: Summary: I could not put it down!!! Review: This is an excellent book. I read the whole 261 pages in one night. (I didn't get much sleep but it was well worth it!) The book is full of John's humor, his pain and his triumphs. He shows us that he's much more than a TV personality. He's a man with an amazing ability and he touches more lives than he can imagine. Thanks John!!!
