Rating: Summary: "Crossing Over" Review: I read this book many months ago, and I can still remember some of Mr. Edward's comments on his life experiences! For a person that is not familiar with psychic medium's thought process, Mr. Edward did an excellent job in explaining steps for this process. I found this book very entertaining and educational. Mr. Edward's sense of humor during his most human trials was unique.
Rating: Summary: A Gifted Man Shares the Story Behind the Show Review: I'm often asked, "Is what John Edward does "for real?" I answer, "Yes," based on my observations of seeing John live in group, and CROSSING OVER only drives home the fact that John believes wholeheartedly in his mission to pass messages from loved ones who have passed on to help provide closure for the living. He's a miracle man, genuinely gifted and in CROSSING OVER, he exposes the beginnings of his most important work.

Rating: Summary: Not What I Expected Review: I thought this book would be all about John's readings. It was a pleasant surprise to see that this book was much more. Although I enjoy reading about the strange things that happen to him, this book made me see him in a different light.Even being psychic doesn't help John Edward know what his future will bring. I thoroughly enjoyed his upward journey of getting his first book published and then promoted. After recently getting my own book published, it was so amusing to me to see that he goes through the same angst that all writers go through. Keeping an eye on Amazon ratings, writing because an unknown force compelled him to do so, and crashing when a bad review comes. This is so familiar to me, yet I didn't expect it from a person that I thought it all came easy to. Another added surprise was his association with some famous people that had crossed over. Readings that were done for people he didn't know, produced some very interesting results and were quite entertaining. I would highly recommend this book for all John Edward fans. Even if you are not a fan, it is a very interesting read.

Rating: Summary: Crossing over is not just for us humans Review: ... but for our pets as well Reviewer: from California I have mixed feelings here: I realize that many people have found great consolation from John Edward's book as well as his TV show. My brother-in-law had occasion to witness at close hand one of his seances but according to him, Mr Edwards used every magician's trick "in the book", from noises to conducting in pitch dark so that no one could see what he was doing; he used several other common tricks that so many of those who call themselves mediums use. On the other hand, both my brother-in-law and I believe in the abilities and veracity of George Andersen, and he has interviewed James van Praagh and believes him to be genuine, as well, even if he does not share his views on reincarnation and other matters. But what about our beloved pets? In the past few years, many books have come out on communication from beyond, NDE's and the like; many have become immensely popular. The problem is, however, for those who are grieving the loss of their beloved pet, about all they have been able to find to help assuage their grief are books that try to get you to deal with your loss, remember your companion fondly, etc etc. Some give you wonderful, touching stories about their own departed pets. Unfortunately, none of these kinds of books serve to mitigate the tearing grief of those of us who feel that we might never see our furry or feathered dear friends again. What makes matters even worse is when some go to their respective minister or priest for comfort, only to be told that animals cease to exist after death. Finally, however, a book dealing with the wonderful truth-- animals do, indeed, have an afterlife. The book is The Soul of Your Pet, by Scott Smith ( BTW, those ministers and priests need to study their Scriptures more effectively! Let them start with Romans 8: 19-23 and Revelations 5:13 where it tells us all! animals will praise God at the Throne at the time of the Resurrection). The book has well-over 100 recountings of people who have had interactions with either their own departed pets or have seen other people's; sometimes there are multiple witnesses; sometimes living pets interact with the spirit one. This makes it pretty hard to suggest grief-induced hallucination, certainly. The book also contains a chapter on animal intelligence, among others. James Randi-- and any other skeptic-- I challenge you to suggest a viable alternative to this explanation of sightings and interactions; some people see and feel their respective pet, other hear it-- there is a broad range of experiences. In closing, I do want to give one caveat: when a spirit appears to someone of its own volition, that is one thing, but when one goes to seances, this is strictly forbidden by the Bible. Visits by spirits to the bereaved to say goodbye, or to come when the departed feels it can give needed comfort or warn of danger, is not forbidden. It is important to remember that just as good and evil exist on this side, they do on the other, as well. During the seance, your beloved aunt Emma might very well be the one contacted, but it could also be an evil spirit posing as such. Why? People have a tendency to think that the Departed know everything. Often they tend to ask them questions, and rely upon their advice. An evil entity likes nothing better than to "take over" and run your life; no need for Scripture or any other books that can influence positively when you have your own "spirit guide", no? Please be careful! There are no cases in Pet Souls where any spirit animal acts other than as an animal, by the way. They can comfort- they can even protect-- but they carry no messages. These beloved friends are not "summoned", but, as I stated before, come of their own free will. What a wonderful gift from God! The Scriptures are there for our salvation, and don't mention much about man's symbiotic interaction with animals, so what a blessing, then, that God would give us this gift! One last point: I would have left this book unrated because of the above issue, but was not given the option. There certainly is no doubt it is most fascinating, and it can be a starting point for seekers.
Rating: Summary: Crossing Over by John Edward Review: Loved this book. Hope a sequel is introduced in the near future. Just ordered "If GOD Were the Sun." Actually, I had ordered it before, but I received John's firt book instead. I gave it to a friend. A Coincidence? A Synchronicity? Definetily a good read--as if John is having a conversation with the reader on a personal, one-to-one, basis. David J. Brown.
