Rating: Summary: Like Spending Time with A Good Friend Review: If you haven't found John's TV show "Crossing Over" you'll want to after reading this book. The way he winds his life, both past and present, into his experiences, both here and in the afterlife will make you feel as if you're spending time with him over coffee and finding out he's the guy next door...with a bit of an interesting twist. The honesty, caring, humor and sarcasm that he brings out in his show are are as compelling in word as they are on screen. What you can't miss is his true belief in the work that has been entrusted to him, and how his being human is as much a lesson to him as it is to us in getting to know him. If you follow John in his work, than "Crossing Over" must be on your bookshelf. I would recommend reading "One Last Time" first if you are new to John and his work. I read "One Last Time" in an afternoon and was compelled to start right in on "Crossing Over." John, I hope the next book is in the writing...I'll have psychic medium withdrawals, otherwise! Definitely, John's works are the place to get started, even if you're just wanting to "test the waters." You won't be disappointed!
Rating: Summary: Exceptional piece of literature... Review: If your a fan of John Edward, this book needs to be immediately added to your reading list. John brings such great humor, empathy and compassion to all that he does, this book included. You'll get to sit in the passengers seat so to speak as John takes you on the journey of how his show got started and the trials and tribulations of being a medium in this cynical world. John shares some of his most memorable encounters both personal and those taped for his show. I read this book in three sittings, and the only reason I didn't finish it in one night was I had taken Nyquil to get over a cold and couldn't stay awake any longer! A MUST read for anyone who has lost a loved one and enjoys reading about the afterlife.
Rating: Summary: Love it. Review: I don't get affected by books, but this one got to me like nothing else has. It's honest, open, heartwrenching and funny. It's my all time favourite book. I feel everyone should read this book, at least once.
Rating: Summary: John shares his struggles..... Review: in this book which reads like a conversation. Funny and enlightening although sometimes he lost me by starting a story in the midst of one already being told. John Edward is one of my favorite people and it's nice to know that he struggled just like everyone else on his way to the top.
Rating: Summary: More of an Autobiography Review: If you're interested in how John Edwards got started, then this is the book for you! I hoped to read about the readings and instead find myself bored by the trials and tribulations of how John became a TV personality. The book is well written, but I wasn't really interested in how he got started. I didn't appreciate having to read his professional autobiography to get to the actual psychic readings. Once, I got involved in the actual stories of the people he's brought over to talk to their loved ones, it was hard to put down. As soon as he starts talking about his career, I again, got turned off to the book and had to put it down.
Rating: Summary: You won't be able to put it down. Review: This is one of those books that will have you crying one minute and laughing out loud the next. The stories are funny, entertaining, interesting, touching, and incredibly uplifting. This is not just another book from just another psychic medium; John Edward really speaks to the reader. His honesty and opennesss is what makes this book so unique as he gives a fascinating account of what goes on behind the scenes of not just his television show, but also his life. A must-read for believers and skeptics alike.
Rating: Summary: Funny & entertaining but not technical Review: Perhaps I don't mean "technical"...I was looking for a book that described more about crossing over and the science (or lack thereof) of mediums but this book was entertaining, poignant, and uplifting as well. Well written in first person with a casual style.
Rating: Summary: John Edward - everyman's psychic Review: I read John's book very quickly. Perhaps because the subject fascinated me, but also because I seem to read his words at the speed he talks...100 miles an hour! The book is a very personal one as John shares his struggles, doubts and triumphs. For anyone with similar gifts or who does energy healing work, it will be a tremendous comfort to read about John's path --so far! I look forward to reading more in the future.
Rating: Summary: Crossing Over Review: I could not put the book down. John has validated what I have always wished was true. Having cancer - losing 3 friends all within months to this disease - it's comforting to know that they are still around me. He is simply fasinating to watch on the television as well as to read his books!
Rating: Summary: Crossing Over, a review Review: I just couldn't put this book down. I hate reading, but yet managed to read about 1/3 of the book in one night! This book just makes you want to read more and more. It is very addicting.
