Rating: Summary: An interesting book for the skeptical Review: This is the first Edwards book I have read. I must confess that I remain skeptical, if less so, perhaps, about the claims Edwards makes. Nonetheless, the book is entertaining and engaging. It points out the trials one who is challenging conventional wisdom must face, and does so in a mildly sarcastic, but charming way. It is one of the few books on such topics that does not cast the protagonist as a messianic zealot, but simply a person with a gift that is desired to be shared. For that, the reader should be grateful. The book narrates, and does not proseltyze. The person who loaned it to me is, of course, a believer. I cannot share that belief, but at least the book made me more open to literature on the subject, and for that reason, I would recommend it.
Rating: Summary: Comforting, Caring, Warm and Funny Review: This is the second book I've read by John Edward, and it's just as good as the first (One Last Time). Edward brings comfort and caring to many, yet he's also natural and humorous. It's a good combination.Unlike some skeptics, I don't need to see it to believe it. Usually the ones making those types of comments are also the ones preaching the Bible or that this is demonic. Funny how they also don't use their names when leaving nasty reviews. Well, these people can't see God, or the Devil, and yet they believe in them. Even the church believes some saints spoke to the departed, when the saints were alive and not yet saints. I'm not a believer in organized religion, but I do have nmy own beliefs, and I also believe there's much more out there that we don't know about - yet. At one time people believed the world was flat. We just haven't developed enough to 'prove' communicating with the departed in a scientific manner. But that doesn't mean it doesn't happen. Why is it so hard then to believe that John, and some others, can hear what our departed ones are saying? Possibly, they fear it for some strange reason, just as those in the middle ages feared a solar eclipse. Personally, I see John's ability as something to be grateful for, as is his willingness to continue his work, even in the face of uninformed, narrowminded abuse. I don't need scientific proof that John speaks to the departed. The proof is there every time he does a reading.
Rating: Summary: A Great Way to Learn More About John Edward! Review: I really enjoyed reading this book. John is very personable, warm and witty in his writing style, and I love connecting with him through his books. It is interesting to get a behind-the-scenes, personalized account of how John's very popular television show came about, and the challenges he has encountered along the way. The book conveys to the reader that John is very genuine and sincere in his desire to help others, and shows how he has been guided by the spirit world to get his work out through television. I especially appreciated the fact that John shares his personal lessons with us- he is very open and honest about his experiences. This helps the reader to understand that he is a human being like everyone else, and there is no need to put him on a pedastal. This book is also helpful for those who do psychic work professionally.
Rating: Summary: Reads Just Like He Talks Review: I loved this book. Since discovering John Edward, my views on the afterlife have completely changed. This book tells the story of how he very humbly came to be on TV. The writing style is exactly like he speaks. I highly recommend this book.
Rating: Summary: John Edward Does it Again! Review: I absolutely cannot say enough good things about this man and his work. John's book 'Crossing Over', with the latest chapters on the September 11th tragedy, was wonderfully written, and a very powerful read. I actually bought the latest edition of this book, (even though I already own the first 'Crossing Over') just for the additional chapters. I was very impressed with John's sensitivity to the families of the victims, and the timing of the choices he made in dealing with the tragic events, publically. The fact that John waited to work with these families out of respect for their loss tells you a lot about this man and the way he operates. His latest book moved me to tears, yet at the same time; continued to provide the kind of hope and inspiration that J.E. always delivers with his messages. John Edward is a class act, and the reason why thousands of people respect him so much.
Rating: Summary: Believers will love it Review: If you've already read 'One Last Time' a lot of the stories are going to be repetitive (if you haven't read it, you should, it's excellent). However, it doesn't make the book any less engaging as John Edward adds some missing pieces to many stories or continues with other relevant happenings. Essentially, if you are an Edward fan, you will enjoy the book as it has even more amazing stories to enlighten and encourage those of us who crave the spiritual in our lives. If you are a cynic, you may not enjoy the book. If you are not familiar with John Edward or distrust psychics in general, the book is not laid out to give you scientific proof that what John does is real. I think watching his television show is a better way to get an idea of whether or not you believe he is really communicating with those from the 'Other Side'. If you're already hooked (as I am), this book is a great place to go for more accounts of the spiritual presence of those that have passed on in our everyday lives.
Rating: Summary: Facinating Man Review: John Edwards is a facinating man. I find his show very intersting and entertaining. I am a bit skeptical, but heck, there is nothing wrong with questioning things. Still, perhaps his gift is indeed real. And if he can communicate with those who have crossed over wouldn't you want to know what it's like? I know I do. This book is a page turner. Whether your skeptical or not. Another book with spiritual theme that I would recommend is I Talked To God And He Wants To TAlk To You. I love exploring the unknown. And if you do as well, then you will like this book.
Rating: Summary: John Edward Never Said He Was God, People!! Review: HOWEVER......he IS a fabulous writer and gifted medium, and that can be a rare find in this day and age. John's latest book, "Crossing Over: The Stories Behind the Stories" gave an insightful look into the ups and downs of being thrust into the public eye within a matter of a few years. If one honestly reads this book, they will discover that John has the same fears, reservations, and insecurities about life and himself that many of us do. The fact that he is constantly being challenged with this gift on a daily basis does not make things easier on him, and the book does a remarkable job in conveying this to the reader. This man is working from the heart; anyone who could endure all the media B.S. to get where he has gotten cannot be in it just for the money and kicks! After reading "Crossing Over", you will see this for yourself. In my humble opinion, he is all the more adored because of his 'humanness' and his down-to-earth, frank attitude. And speaking from a purely young, female point-of-view, John has the most amazing biceps I have ever seen (*wink*). Pure genius, that book's front cover is! Go buy it! His story is a wonderful read!
Rating: Summary: Brings comfort to those who are grieving Review: I have watched John Edward's show a few times and that piqued my interest to read his book. The book follows John's life from when he discovers his gift, to his reading with a psychic when he is a teen. This reading changes his life and he follows his own spirit guide, to become the phenomonon he is today. Many people have found comfort and healing in John's words. I happen to be a believer, so I have had no doubts in his gift. This book goes into much detail on his readings with clients, and even his own journey to get a message from his deceased Mom. I think my favorite part of the book was John reading for a lady who had a famous relative (and John had no idea who this person was or what he was famous for...not giving this away either...you will have a surprise when you read it!) The book chronicles John's difficulty in becoming famous (even psychic's get 'bamboozeled' from time to time) and he shares a few instances where he was ready to give up. It proves that mediums can make mistakes just like anyone else. A good insight into this special man, I give the book 4 stars.
Rating: Summary: Fabulous reading! Review: Finished the book in 2.5 days, that's when you know it's good. I look forward to reading more of John's work. The book is about his journey to get the show where he wanted it to be, with stories along the way. I was never a real watcher of the show, surfed onto it and would watch, but today I watched it differently. I realized how much good he is doing for any family through his work. Take the time, read the book, you'll see things differently.
