Rating: Summary: Perhaps the Title but Not the Book Review: Crossing Over is a well written book in terms of style and presentation. However, the content does not convince this reader of the validity of Edwards ability to communicate with the deceased. Crossing Over pursuaded this reader that Edwards strong point is the power of suggestion rather than paranormal capabilities.
Rating: Summary: Skeptic Review: I thought that the book and the way it was written was interesting. I don't believe in what the book talks about but I did find it interesting and entertaining. I just wish that more of the mistakes that Mr. Edwards makes were televised. It must be nice to have a great editor to edit out your wrong guesses. Overall I liked the book but I don't believe in this hooey.Reader in Chi-Town
Rating: Summary: No Doubt About It... Review: I admire John Edward for telling his story despite the detractors all psychics have, and I look forward to reading more of his adventures in the metaphysical field. I have only one problem regarding this book that made me give it 3 stars instead of 5. The time frame jumps around quite a bit, that it's difficult to follow what's going on sometimes. It's, like, "Where are we now?" or "Weren't we just talking about something else a moment ago?" The transitions aren't so seamless. But as to the content of CROSSING OVER, it's not at all difficult to believe in a guy who talks to the dead. I come from the same world, although I conduct my readings differently, that's why I can empathize. Wherever you are, John Edward, I hope you continue your work. My husband and I wish to meet you someday.
Rating: Summary: Comforting and Inspiring Review: Up until recently, I had little idea who John Edward was. Oh yeah, the "TV Psychic." Then I read One Last Time and then this book and understood what a fascinating man he is. I felt at times like he was speaking directly to me somehow about his experiences not only with getting One Last Time published, how he survived the "infomercial disaster" he encountered while trying to get his book publicized, how "Crossing Over with John Edward" got on the air and just what daily life is like being a psychic. The end of the updated book has a chapter about John's thoughts on 9/11, including a story of his contacting a spirit who was on one of the planes that crashed into the WTC that day. For people like me who felt incredible loss and grief that day, it was to me a message that they too wanted to let everyone know they are fine. Like "one Last Time," he has stories about contacts with "the other side," some of which will bring tears to your eyes. To some this book has and will bring comfort in the knowledge that "Yes Virginia, there is The Other Side." Books like this one prove not only there is a spiritual realm, but give comfort in knowing your departed ones are still around and want to try and contact us, even if we can't physically see them.
Rating: Summary: It will give the answers you are looking for... Review: But not necessarily the truth or the answers you need. It is a story full of mystery but little substance for you to take with you. It is ultimately a fanciful version of a cross section of life. I found little substance that I could relate to my life. Although it is an easy read and it is entertaining, I can not look at this book as spiritual self-help. I have events in my past that are for me to live with, and those that have passed before me would have little to say that would make me see those events in a positive light. I applaud John Edwards for finding his place in life, he offers hope to those who truely need it. I worry that sometimes people get the wrong type of help from such hope. Sometimes the problem is with you, not them. Sometimes you must change your behavior, not seek justification for it. Those who have passed on are easy to mimic, easy to use as a source of profound insight. It is we, the living, that make that possible. We believe that those who have passed on have a different and complete view of the subject. We impower them to tell us what we want to hear. As a book, it is a fine book, light and entertaining. As some sort of inspiration, it leaves me empty. I find I must seek my answers elsewhere.
Rating: Summary: Hmmmmm Review: This book while well written is not exactly beleivable. John Edwards seems to target people when they are most vaunerable and makes them believe. In a way this is not all bad, he does give them some closure that they would not nessesarly have even if there is no aspect of reality in it. Overall I found this whole thing rather sketchy and wonder what the appeal is.
Rating: Summary: crossing over Review: I havent even finished reading this book and i have already recomended it to alot of my friends.I have found it inspirational, and it also validates a lot of personal experiences i had as a child and some i have had as an adult. John explains alot of things that i have experienced and was affraid ,of but now i will go with the flow, and open up to what ever may be out there trying to talk to me. Thank you john for re assuring me that i am not mad or alone with the things that happen to me .
Rating: Summary: A Very Real Perspective on the Mysterious Side of Life Review: I like how real John Edward is about being in touch with spirit guides and how that has translated into his life and his experiences trying to reach people with the "Guides" information. We all want a glimpse into something beyond our "scope". He has a channel to the extraordinary, but because it is so natural to him, it doesn't SEEM out of the ordinary. Yet, he has information and perspectives not typically available to us. I believe there is much beyond us and I believe that there is help available from benevolent beings. I think a book I picked up recently called THE ONE MINUTE GUIDE TO PROSPERITY AND ENLIGHTENMENT by an Indian Scholar and Siddha Master named Sri Siva is also full of unusual information of an extraordinary nature. This Indian Master is also a very powerful channel for benevolent guidance from other realms. The book is all about using this guidance in your life to achieve material and spiritual goals. It's definitely not the kind of information I've seen before - it's fascinating AND effective. A must have for anyone interested in exploring something beyond "the norm".
Rating: Summary: The Best of John Edward Review: I just loved this book! I dislike reading in general, but yet spent the first 3 hours after I got home reading Crossing Over. It's unbelievable that John use to be skeptical to this whole process. I highly recommend everyone reading this book, and checking out his show on Sci-Fi Channel at 11 PM or during Mid-day on various Fox stations nation wide.
Rating: Summary: Comforting from Kathy in Wisconsin!!! Review: I found all of John Edwards books to be refreshing and extremely comforting. I have always known my family was surrounding me, but now I'm sure when the light bulbs blow at just that right moment, or the fan blades start turning that it isn't just my mind playing tricks on me. I'm a believer. Without a doubt. I've got many on the other side that I'm convinced send me messages all the time. If you're a skeptic, that's fine. Someday you will see what we see and you to will be comforted and amazed. Smile~
