Summary: Great book - for part of the 20-60-20 !!
Review: I picked up John's latest book and read most of it on a 2 hour flight. The writing makes the pages flow as though you were having a conversation with him. He's also quite funny. Several times I laughed out loud, much to the concern of some of the other passengers. If you've ever wondered how a TV show (with a psychic medium, no less) comes into being, this book is for you. Of course there will be that portion of the 20-60-20 (read the book - this number is explained) that will go totally off the deep end because of the occupation John puts on his tax returns. This book will not appeal to them but will be highly entertaining to the remaining 80 !

Summary: Another great addition to your reading list
Review: I enjoyed this so much, because it was truly in his words -- if you watch the show, you know his sense of humor and candor, and it comes through brilliantly in the text. As usual, the "behind the scenes" is just mind blowing -- or should I say mind expanding. And he is right, you either believe or you don't -- I believe -- and that makes it all the more fun to read. He also does a wonderful job at addressing his skeptics. It is a must read!

Summary: Get the tissues!
Review: I read "One Last Time" twice and I was still not prepared for this books touching stories. He goes into more detail about his relationship with his mother and her passing- as well as her three signs from the other side- that is truly heartwarming. Mikey even stops in for a guest apperance. Personally, the chapter "Legends of Rock" was the most jaw dropping. I don't know how anyone could possibly believe in coincedence after reading about Carl Perkins, his daughter, and a special birthday gift. I was reduced to tears at least half a dozen times thoughout the book, but there were times I laughed out loud, too. Like when he refered to the team of him and his best friend, an accountant, as "Death and Taxes." If you are on the fence at all about this book, buy it. It is written exactly like John talks- very down to Earth and to the point. I have seen a few reviews that said to purchase "One Last Time" first then this book, I don't think that is totally true since he does give history on himself and previous situations mentioned in detail in "One Last Time" that reoccur in "Crossing Over". Actually, since I had read the first book twice I kind of skimmed those parts until I got to some new information. So don't let that scare you off of this latest book, though "One Last Time" is just as fantastic. On a side note, toward the end there is a blurb about he and a collegue walking through the airport while the collegue is saying under thier breathe, "Recognize me. Recognize me", and John saying he feels just the opposite most of the time. I am completely dying to know who that was! It sort of puts on blotch on thier credibility in my book, which is why they were not mentioned by name, I am sure. In short, buy the book, get some tissue and comfy. It is fabulous!

Summary: An honest discussion of this gift and how he shares it
Review: I have to admit, I have only seen Mr. Edward's show in passing. I always have the best of intentions of watching it because I do believe in this type of phenomena, especially when the details are accurate and the motivation for the reading is correct. I am only half way through this work, and I feel a strong connection with the author. His honest discussion of the trade-offs on money and his ability were frank, and the discussion of his mother's passing (and the 3 signs) were very touching. Anyone who can work Reva Shayne and Winnie the Pooh into a sign from a loved one is definitely okay by me. Although I have not needed a reading as badly as many detailed in the book(I am fortunate that most of my loved ones are around, and those who are not have shown their presence shortly after passing), I will definitely be scheduling Crossing Over (the TV version) into my TV viewing. The sense of comfort brought to those experiencing profound loss is something that cannot be given a price tag, and Mr. Edward makes it clear that although he wants to make a living--money is not his motivator. That is not always the case with those having gifts like this (just check their websites for rates), and I will do my best to support his work for this and many other reasons. If you get the chance to read Crossing Over--take the author's advice--come without expectations. This is not a book of case studies, but an intimate look at the path Mr. Edward shared with his guides. There are some great stories of the readings he has done, but it is more about his personal journey and growth--a very refreshing change. I enjoyed seeing how far he has come, and I will enjoy seeing how his gift will continue to bring afterlife discussions out into the open. Final thoughts: His honesty and candid narrative of the challenges and benefits of his gift has made helped me make a strong connection to his efforts, and I wish him the very best of luck! His willingness to help those in need is to be commended, and I hope his reach continues to grow. William PS I'm glad Reva came back too.

Summary: Great experiences told by John Edward
Review: John Edward on the page 'sounds' just like he does in his show. Warm and sometimes funny. And, he has a way of writing that made me almost feel like I was right there with him as he went through the experiences. This book was written to let his fans of the 'Crossing Over' show know what it has been like to slowly become famous. From his first foray into radio on WPLJ New York, to the meetings surrounding the formation of "Crossing Over', John Edward takes the reader step by step though the doubts and fears (and sometimes anger) he felt.

Much of the book is devoted to experiences that connected people he knew (and people he didn't know) with their loved ones on the 'other side.' This book was written in a way that shows even John has been amazed by a lot of the experiences he's had.

Lots of things came through to John that, when you read it, you SWEAR it's all a coincidence. NOPE...John Edward believes that in life, there are NO coincidences. This certainly seems to be the case in his life. The book also mentions that everything written is true and there have been no exaggerations in any way, shape, or form.

Whether you believe that everything happens for a reason or not, the book is a great read. Don't miss the chapter "Legends of Rock" This was an experience that blew John Edwards' mind and blew my mind as well. I had to read it twice in order for everything to sink in.

Even if you are a bit of a skeptic regarding after-death-communication, get this book from a library, and, if you don't like it, return it. For fans of the 'Crossing Over' show on the SciFi Channel, get the book! I think many of the experiences in this book will stay with you for awhile.

Summary: Crossing Over - what a ride!
Review: One of the nicest things about reading John's work is that it is very conversational. That makes it easy to read and a little easier to appreciate just how difficult the whole process was and is. There was certainly no 'magic' in this latest experience. I cannot imagine having to endure such an emotional ride just to get the tv people to understand they really didn't have any control over 'destiny'. The fun part is having them come to their own realizations - I got several good laughs out of those excerpts. For those that have not yet read this book I say sit back and be prepared for some amazing reading.

Summary: The Journey Continues...
Review: In "Crossing Over: The Stories Behind the Stories", the reader enters John Edward's world as he progresses from his private mediumship occupation into the public eye with his now-syndicated show "Crossing Over with John Edward". Like his first book, there are more riveting tales of amazing readings and spiritual encounters. However, this book focuses moreso on the behind-the-scenes-footage of John's battle with his newfound fame as well as his transition to popular TV: success does come with a price.

John discusses his own journeys, his encounters with the skeptics, and his attempts to help educate people in letting them know that there really is more out there than what we see and what we know. Those who have read "One Last Time" will recognize some of the people and stories mentioned in that book, as well as hear how John's quest for his "three signs" had him searching for answers he already knew he possessed. Like many of his clients, John kept waiting for "one more sign".

I bought this book the minute it hit the shelves locally, and read it from cover to cover shortly after. And just like after reading "One Last Time", you cannot help but want what most of John's clients usually want -- "just a little more". If you've read his first book, you have to check out his follow-up story.

And if that doesn't grip you, perhaps one of John's readings will -- possibly providing the answer to the question of our time: has Elvis really "crossed over"?

John's ability to face the issues and the skeptics with sarcasm and humor will have the reader in his corner, wanting him to prove the skeptics wrong. With his show going into syndication, he should definitely have more viewers and "believers" behind him.

Summary: You've come a long way, John Edward...
Review: After reading Crossing Over by John Edward, I sense that he now truly understands the phrase "We are spiritual beings having a human experience." He writes passionately about the challenges to his credibility and his struggles to enforce respect for an ability which defies "scientific" proof. John explains some of the theories which may one day lead to that proof and details his experience as a participant in a study of mediumship. Perhaps that will be his future focus---research and education. I think it's a good idea to read his first book One Last Time--before reading Crossing Over--because John refers back to people and events.

Summary: Not just another "woo woo" book
Review: I have worked in the field of publishing sales for over 23 years and Crossing Over falls in the category we always call "woo woo" inside the industry. This covers anything from New Age wisdom to Ancient Oriental Philosophy to UFOs. As a sales and marketing tool this helps isolate the markets where sales are most likely to be strong. The Northwest is one of the strongest markets for this stuff and I happen to live there as well. I love just about any alternative thinking about life, death, and existance. I've been impressed with John Edward's casual and confident style on his TV show and this book takes up a lot of questions I've posed myself like whether he is reading minds or actually in contact with another dimension of reality that I've always suspected exists. Rather than concentrate on convincing the reader that he is the real thing John relates in a matter-of-fact way how his career took shape, the lessons he has learned along the way, and the joys and frustrations he and other psychics experience. I am struck by this young man's personal wisdom and willingness to expose his own human frailities as they relate to his own path of spiritual enlightenment. Not only is this an entertaining read, it is thought provoking and grounded in everyday reality.

Summary: Think the job is easy? Its not, but you could do it too!
Review: Full of insights and touching stories of his work, "Crossing Over" beautifully illustrates the cleansing / healing power that simple words from a loved one who has passed, carries. While touching back to his past "Crossing Over" focuses on the last 4 years in the life and career of John Edward. His trials and the tribulations that surround bringing his message to a greater mass of humanity, and his words to live by...Communicate, appreciate and validate the people in our lives, past and present. His message remains forever true and valid for the lives we live, touch and have touched us. Whether you're an avid fan of John Edward, or a first time reader of his work, "Crossing Over" will touch you with stories of the personal loss, healing and love. Five stars? I'd give it more, he has taken the time to show us, the reader, the daily frustration of trying to remain true to his path, beliefs, and his guides, while facing opposition from non-believers and honoring right to hold their own set of beliefs and values. If you ever wonder, if you've always known, if you are just finding out, I recommend "Crossing Over."
