Summary: A Must for Any "Crossing Over" Fan
Review: John Edward's personality shines through in his new book "Crossing Over: The Stories Behind the Stories." Readers of his first book, "One Last Time" will notice a bit of a shift in content. "Crossing Over" is chock-full of information about John's path into the public eye as opposed to the consecutive chapters of readings "One Last Time" contained. More importantly, it is written in a fashion that allows the reader to understand "at what price fame" and enables them to see that no matter where you are in your spiritual growth, there is always something new to learn and experience.

If you have been watching "Crossing Over with John Edward" on the Sci-Fi Channel since the first episode aired, you will be familiar with many of the readings mentioned in the book and enjoy the extra background. They are distributed throughout the narrative of his journey from everyday psychic medium to his present status of world-wide acclaim which the show has brought to John and his message.

This book is a MUST PURCHASE for any fan of John Edward or his show. It is full of behind the scenes information and gives a history of how "Crossing Over with John Edward" came to be. In addition, John shares his invaluable spiritual insights and infectious humorous sarcasm. You'll laugh, you'll cry, and when you get to the end you'll be looking for the new release date of his next book.

If this is your first visit into the realm of John Edward's works, I recommend you purchase "One Last Time" as well and finish it before delving into his latest work. "Crossing Over" is a little heavier read due to the nature of material discussed, such as the Leon Jaroff incident and other negative media events John has been faced with. [Note from Reviewer: The March 5, 2001 issue of Time Magazine tried to pass off an article by Leon Jaroff which was an obvious plagiarism of an "Inside Edition" segment on John Edward almost word for word.]

Summary: Meet John Edward... and The Boys.
Review: This book is a "MUST READ" for all skeptics, and all believers. From cover to cover, we get a marvelous in-depth, "behind-the-scenes" look at John, The Boys, the readings, and the show "Crossing Over." He shares his thoughts, his concerns, his feelings, his struggles with fame, and his humor, with the world in this one. This stuff is real, folks. In fact, John Edward may be the only REAL Medium out there. "Crossing Over" (the book) will entertain you... will convince you... and it'll make you think. His words are inspiring, and full of personal emotion. Definitely a "MUST READ!!!!" 5 STARS, easily!!!! Run, don't walk, to the nearest bookstore near you, and experience it for yourself.

Summary: To the skeptics and the true believers...
Review: This book was an amazingly easy read, engaging from the very beginning. I had heard of John Edward and had seen his show a few times as a result of my fiancee being a big fan. I began reading the book expecting to be bored half way through at the work of a relative novice. Instead, I found my attention captured and kept and finished the book in just a few days (a major achievement on my tight time schedule).

There was everything in this book that one would expect of a great read: drama, suspense, comedy, romance, horror. I found myself eagerly turning pages in an effort to experience the next thrill on this engaging, informative emotional, intellectual and spritual ride. And I never doubted the earnestness of John's beliefs in his own powers, abilties and purpose. Although I am not a true believer, I was able to thoroughly enjoy the journey. Which brings me to...

To the skeptics and the true believers, there is probably little I can say about this book that would change your position on the subject matter. However, as a person who lists himself as undecided on the whole subject matter, let me share just a few words. The major and annoying flaw in the thinking of both camps I'm writing to now is their respective steadfast refusal to even accept the possibility of the opposite position being possible. What I mean by this is that most well known skeptics (e.g. the Amazing Randi)are not true skeptics, viewing the paranormal through skeptical reasoning eyes in search of the truth or fallacy of the phenomenon being studied. Instead, most of them have become professional debunkers, interested not in finding truth but destroying any idea does not fit their neat picture of reality. Likewise, many true believers are not willing to concede even the possibility that their belief in paranormal events may be misguided. They cling to their positions with the fervor of religious zealots. Considering myself a true decided skeptic on many paranormal themes, including the alleged abilities of John Edward, I can say that I can find nothing in either the skeptics or believers corner to thoroughly convince me of their position. I challenge John or those like him and Randi and those like him to engage in a closely monitored, lengthy study judged by a non-committal third party to bring this subject to its true test. Any takers?

Summary: LOVE, LIGHT, LAUGHTER AND HOPE!
Review: I loved this book. It made me laugh, cry and have peace of mind. One night I was up it was about 8:00 p.m. my time and I was flipping through the channels when I hit the sci-fi cannel when low and behold is this man standing on a stage with people around him. I thought holly cow a talk show..woohoo and then it hit me this guy is talking to dead people. So I watched and it made the hair stand up on my arms. I then decided to do some research on John. I saw that he had a new book out so I ordered it. I got it and started to read it and I could not put it down. I love his humor and his spunk.
For those who bashed on John in your review I just wanted to say a few words. Our world is hurting right now and the last thing any of us should do is JUDGE another human being. The second is I am not naïve I do my research. I also am a person who has to have faith and has to believe that my loved ones are okay and safe. Death is scary to most people and this kind, gentle man has given many people hope. If you did not like his book just say I did not like it. No need to bash or call names. Above all else treat people how you would like to be treated.

Summary: A wonderful book!
Review: In his latest installment, John Edward continues his journey of self-exploration about his life as a psychic medium. Perhaps more greatly influenced by "The Boys" this time, John's writing is edgier and more direct. His candor about his life and the things that have influenced him (both positively and negatively) give "Crossing Over" its punch. As with "One Last Time," there is no shortage of emotional stories from past readings he has done. Although with this book, "Crossing Over," I didn't ONLY cry this time, I also blurted an, "Oh, wow ..." with each amazing story.

The way the subject matter is presented throughout the book leaves the reader with an abundance of opportunities to draw their own conclusions about this complicated possibility ... communicating with the dead. In an interesting twist, John recounts how science tried to prove or disprove the existence and legitimacy of the work he does. The questions that forces the reader to examine about their own beliefs sets the stage for what will hopefully be explored further by John in future books. This book is a great companion to his TV show on the Sci Fi channel and I wouldn't recommend one without the other. Watch the show, read his books and challenge yourself to consider the possibilities. Thanks, John, for a great book! :)

Summary: Another great book from Edward...
Review: This is another book by medium John Edward that entertains the reader and will confound the skeptics. Again, Edward relates many experiences that will leave the believer enlightened and the skeptic dumbfounded. This book is highly recommended. The only reason I did not give it five stars was because I was bored by the talk about the development of his TV show. Regardless, you will enjoy this book!

Summary: We want more than your experiences, we want ours too!
Review: John is a good writer, and communicates well on this side besides the other side! What I think is lacking is a broader scope of experiences. What other authors, like Tiffany Snow and Sylvia Browne are doing, is touching many aspects and challenging the reader to do the same, BESIDES telling the personal experiences. Too often, John just tells his own stories, which are entertaining, but limited. But, this book I like better than his other one, "after life," which is more of the same and even dryer than this one.

Summary: The chance to get to know John a little better...
Review: is part of what you'll get from this book. Even psychic mediums are not immune to bumps in the road of life, and it's impressive to read about what John went through in order to provide us with a realistic and sincere introduction to the medium process while still maintaining the integrity of his work. I liked John from the very first time I saw him several years ago on the SciFi channel, but after reading this book, I like him even more.

As for the "Crossing Over" stories, I doubt reading them will make a serious skeptic into a believer. Some believe, some don't and some need a personal reading with strong validations before they'll submit to the idea of an afterlife. If you're like me and have always believed in an afterlife, then John's words and stories will bring comfort to you like a favorite blanket on a cold, winter night. You don't really *need* someone to provide example after example of solid, on-the-mark readings, but it's nice to read them now and then. It's like a spiritual shot in the arm or a re-connection, if you will.

If you're curious about the whole process (and aren't quite sure what to believe), this book is friendly and informative. The readings are, of course, fun to read. And they may make you think twice about the whole afterlife issue. This book will probably lead you to other books on the subject, which can only be a good thing, in my opinion. You don't have to believe everything you read, but it never hurts to be informed. You can open yourself up to the idea of an afterlife without having to slap a scarf on your head and refer to yourself as Madam Zelda, ya know what I mean? John offers the process to you in a non-threatening manner, and you are free to mentally work it out as you see fit.

Thanks, John! :o)
