Rating: Summary: Exactly what my experiences have been Review: Disclaimer: I know there is no such thing as a "god". This helps me notice the errors in logic that Muslims have been using to excuse their behavior of late (late = the last 1500 years). Did I say logic? Oops. They use no logic because their arguments are based on a fantasy land they travel to after dying. In my opinion, Islam is a violent and completely intolerant religion that is coming to an inflection point regarding its place among modern philosophy. I loved reading this book and the author's findings. A great book that everyone should read (especially followers of Allah).
Rating: Summary: This book will create Talibani style intolerance Review: This book is written by a person who hates muslim or Islam from the bottom of his heart. A person, who knows true Islam, will sense the total fabrications and falsifications of Islam in this book. In reality this book will create Talibani style intolerance in the west.
Rating: Summary: Selective criticism Review: Apply the same critical treatment to the Bible and you would end up with a pretty grim and threatening version of Christianity. This book will appeal to those looking for easy answers and validation of their own biases. There are a wealth of good titles out there that examine the misguided literalism that twists religion into a divisive and destructive force. Those seeking to reject another's religion clearly don't understand their own.
Rating: Summary: Superficial Facts Review: The Book was great in listing all the symptoms or the reactions of muslims against others, but it failed to decribe the root of the main problems between the Western and Islamic Civilization.
Rating: Summary: a reasonable person looks at Islam Review: Islam Unveiled calmly looks at what Islam teaches- exactly what you yourself might do if you were a reasonable person, had time to read the Koran and other important Islamic writings, and wanted to know whether or not you wanted to become Muslim. The author clearly believes that religions deserve to be taken seriously. While some reviewers are using Islam Unveiled as a springboard for their own opinions about Islam or Christianity, the book itself patiently finds the areas where the two religions do in fact have irreconcilable differences. While the historical examples are wide ranging and fascinating, it is the beliefs of Muslims - not their actions- that take centre stage. Islam Unveiled is tremendously informative, and benefits immensely by being not a book of answers, but rather, as the title says, a book of excellent questions.
Rating: Summary: Undersirable book Review: I must admit this is one of the worst books about Islam I've ever read. The author reaches lot of wrong conclusions based on personal bias and hatred towards Islam. Lot of the information is simply in-correct. The Islamic teachings are totally taken out of context, there was not one chapter where I could not smell his hatred and bias towards Islam/Muslims.Such people who are not honest and have lot of hatred in them should not be allowed to write. It is these kind of people that cause hatred and mistrust in the world. I would highly reccommend Amazon.com to take this book out of their catalog as it is doing a great deal of damage besides spreading lies and mis-information. For those who are truly interested in learning about Islam, I would suggest to buy a Qur'an or to visit your local mosque and speak with a scholar there. You would get much more reliable and honest information. regards.
Rating: Summary: Uninformed,Unspecialized Opinion. Not surprising from Spencer Review: As Mr. Spencer admits, Islam is the fastest growing faith in the World, specially in the West and more specially the US. I don't think that all those thousands who are embracing it every second could NOT discover what the author claims he has found out. I wonder how Mr. Spencer qualify himself to come to these conclusions with his superficial information. I wonder what were his soureces of information. Scholars take years upon years to study a staement or an event. I invite all level headed readers to go and find out for themselves.
Rating: Summary: Wow! I could not put this one down... Review: Thoroughly researched, excellent writing style, incredibly informative---DEFINITELY a must-read in this day and age. HIGHLY recommended!!!
Rating: Summary: Growing but slowing Review: After reading this I have to come to the conclusion that most persons converting to this fastest growing faith are not truly aware of the foundations of Islam. Noting the referrence to Islams early stages as being known as the Moon God faith. The Moon God faith has clear historical and archeologic evidense that Islam was founded as a cult. This cult with the logo of the Crescent moon and star (as remains today in Islam) condoned killing with revenge anyone even questioning the faith. As Time moves forward, this faith expanded its position of death to the outsider or non believer. Until the time of the Prophet Muhammed this book details out the Sunnah sect of Islam, the faith had become organized by force. Muhammed initially proclaims peace and a way similar to that of Christ, but as Muhammeds teachings progress it is clear he to sees revenge upon outsiders and especially in the sunnah sector. I believe this as Muhammed became frustrated due to the non- conformance of wishful peace making. He couldn't change that inbred belief. The very term hard line Islam is born out of Muhammeds teachings, one so specific that persons not conforming to Islam will self inflict pain upon themselves in the after life by scrapping their faces with nails throughout eternity. I find that this book has done one thing for me, it has convinced me Islam is an invention and built upon for centuries as a tradition is born and clothed into a culture. there is no doubt in my mind about that after reading this factual book. Read SB: 1 or God to get even a more factual account of this invention, by Karl Maddox.
Rating: Summary: Brutally honest Review: Robert Spencer admits that when it comes to atrocities committed against unbelievers in the name of God, both Christians and Muslims have a lot to answer for. But he makes a critical distinction that has escaped the optimists in the West: murderous Christians act in flagrant violation of the Gospel; Islamic terrorists, on the other hand, can cite verse after verse of the Koran in which Muhammed endorses killing non-Muslims. Furthermore, Islam's insistence that the only society worth living in is an Islamic theocracy flies in the face of the contemporary West's ideas about secularism and the separation of church and state. Spencer shows us that although the press, our politicians, and academics try to convince us that Islam is a religion of peace and tolerance, it does not match up with any of our notions of open-mindedness. By its own law (enforced in many Islamic countries), non-Muslims are "tolerated" as second-class citizens who can be attacked and even killed with impunity. There is no toleration for non-Muslims who express a critical opinion about Islam, nor for Muslims who convert to another religion--both types of individuals run the risk of the death penalty. These are hard lessons for Westerners to learn; and Robert Spencer is one of the very few willing to teach us.
