Rating: Summary: Can't Wait For the Next Series Review: I thought this was a great addition to the series for Eve. I love Iris Johansen books and was looking forward to the newest addition. I wasn't disappointed. Again Eve is forced into a project she didn't want to do and again Joe and Logan and Gallen protect her but this time she has Jane on her side too!!! This book kept me guessing to the very end. And if the end is any indicator this won't be the last in the series or at least I hope not!!! I wouldn't recommend this for the first time Eve Duncan reader but once you finally get to this book I don't think you will be disappointed either.
Rating: Summary: A fellow author from Lake Tahoe Review: This was a fun read and well done, Iris. You kept the pages turning and the characters so interesting. Your plot was creative and imaginative. Though nothing is impossible and secret organizations are all over the world. Look back on September 11th. You did your research, kept your writing clean and captivated me until the last page. Readers will not be disappointed. Keep them coming. You're a real talent.
Rating: Summary: Fast paced thriller to compliment series Review: This book is a very quick read with enough action to keep you interested. I do not believe this should be your first book in the series. The returning characters are not developed enough for the first time reader (knowing them prior helps), but the book still stands alone. Eve seems strong and passionate, while sometimes unaffected and Joe becomes more interesting with his warrior side. Some of the story seems a little far fetched and very convenient for the timing, but it isn't impossible and will make you think of the goings on in the world. In addition, Galen (my favorite reoccurring character) is back in this novel to add danger, intrigue, and even some comic relief.
Rating: Summary: A Great Continuation of a Series Review: Great Book in the Eve Duncan series. Don't forget to check out THE SEARCH too. Amazon.com doesn't mention it on the series list, but Eve, Joe and Jane all make appearances in that book too.
Rating: Summary: Another Great Book Review: This book was just as good as the last ones. The sequel is GREAT. You just can't put a good book down. I can't wait till the next one. I hope it's soon. I just started reading books about a year ago. The first book I picked up was by Iris. The first book to this sequel. When I started reading it I just couldnt put it down. Waiting anxiously on the next.
Rating: Summary: Not up to her standards or my expectations Review: A boring story with annoying character conflict. Eve is torn up after discovering Joe's lie. It's obvious they'll get back together -- but not until we slog through hundreds of pages of her angst.
Rating: Summary: Good, but somewhat silly novel Review: Forensic sculptor Eve Duncan is trying to move on with her life, she is in a committed relationship, she has a loving adopted daughter, and she has finally put to rest the murder of her biological daughter. Then one day Eve receives a phone call with a request...she is needed in New Orleans to reconstruct a man's skull that has been found. At first Eve refuses this job, but when a shocking discovery about her daughter is brought to light, she retreats to the bayou's to take on this new job.Leaving her life, and the lies that have been told to her, Eve wants nothing but a getaway, and find the identity of the skull, but on her first night in New Orleans she almost killed, and a mysterious man claims that he has been given to her for protection. The further she becomes involved with the skull, Eve realizes she has stumbled upon a horrible conspiracy, and she must match wits with a masterful killer willing to do anything to keep her from finding the truth, and the only man she can turn to is the one the one man she may not be able to trust. As the clock ticks, and the bodies drop around her, Eve must find out answers and put a stop to the killings, before the next dead body is her own. 'Body Of Lies' is a fast-paced thriller, but unfortunately suffers from some complicated plot twists. Eve Duncan is an enjoyable character, and most of the novels that feature her have been excellent, but in 'Body Of Lies' the plot races along only to stall when the plot changes to reveal some strange twists. Iris Johansen is a good thriller writer, but in her new novel she has tried to come up with a clever, tricky plot that ends up seeming silly, and boring. Although not a bad book, 'Body Of Lies' does not rank with the previous novels by this best-selling author. Nick Gonnella
Rating: Summary: Really Good Read Review: This was a great continuance of the last books in this series. I wasn't disappointed. If you liked the others in this series, you will love this one. I was happy to see the return of Eve and Jane and Quinn. I can't wait for the next one. The plot is great and will keep you guessing until the end.
Rating: Summary: Duh! Review: I've just started reading this book and I had to look up other folks' reaction to it before I continue, to see if it's worth my time. Notta. The writing is so juvenile. It's hard to get through one lousy sentence, let alone all the rest of them. This book is not for me. I'll drop this author from my list and go on to the ones that really know how to write!
Rating: Summary: please give her some writing lessons! Review: I liked the plot. But PLEASE! The writing! Ms Johansen is supposed to be a WRITER! The heroes don't just sigh, they constantly "draw a deep sigh" (every time they get which is a lot!) Question: Why does Eve often (too often!) "moisten her lips"? Does she suffer from some unknown disease? Why does she or Joe or Galen or everybody else never "look" but "gaze" - and frequently(!!!) "OVER the SHOULDER"? And how many times can Joe just appear and stand in the doorway? English is not my native language, but I love and respect it. Ms Johansen apparently, does not. Is the rule number one in writing not to repeat the same word twice in a row? Ms Johansen, did you know that? I love to read, but this book is not a "good reading". I am sorry
