Rating: Summary: Had me to the end, but let me down a little! Review: I've read all of Connelly's work. I always enjoy the plots that he spins, but find he traps himself in the end. This one was no exception, the twist of the killer wanting to knock off people for their organs was original -- having it all hark back to another case, wasn't. I would rather have seen him finish off in the direction that he started instead of the villain being someone our hero never caught. Oh well, still worth the read!
Rating: Summary: "A great book! I couldn't read it fast enough." Review: Michael Connelly was new to me as an author but I thoroughly enjoyed reading this book. I've already recommended it to a friend, who can't wait to read it. Thanks, Michael!!!
Rating: Summary: I read the whole book in two evenings after work! Review: This was my first book to read by Connelly but he has me hooked. The intensity of the chase and knowledge of criminal/investigator behavior made it hard to put the book down. For an awesome ride through the mind of a killer and the heart of a private investigator, check out Blood Work.
Rating: Summary: CONNELLY GRABS YOU BY YOUR HEART BY THE FIRST CHAPTER! Review: BY THE END OF THE FIRST CHAPTER I WAS HOOKED TO THIS FINE NOVEL. McCALEB, I LIKED THE GUY FROM THE START. THE WHOLE BOOK SENDS YOU THROUGH A QUEST, ALONGSIDE TERRY McCALEB, TO SOLVE A MURDER. THAT IF IT HAD NOT BEEN COMMITED, TERRY MAY NOT HAVE LIVED. CONNELLY WRITES A DYNAMIC, SUSPENSEFUL NOVEL. IT'S THE SMALL DETAILS THAT MAKE THE STORY BIG. GREAT BOOK! PICK IT UP, READ IT, THEN RECOMMEND IT! David E. Meyer Houston, Tx.
Rating: Summary: A real page-turner! Review: I read this book in a single sitting, just could not put it down. Fast-paced writing, vivid characters, twisty plot. The medical descriptions ring true (although the detective's a bit cavalier about his medications). Reminscent of early John Grisham, but better.
Rating: Summary: A darn good story. Review: Logic, intrigue, craftsmanship, compelling characters, heroes and villains, suspense of course, and a mixture of serial killings, horrifying murders, make for a darn good story. I like Connelly's work but I think this one may be his best. He writes well and has done his research - what one should expect from a former crime reporter. The complexity that is his style is never compromised by unnecessary lack of clarity or movement. Although a work of fiction, it was inspired by conversations with a friend who received a heart transplant.
Rating: Summary: A slow read from a good author. Wha happened? Review: Detail after detail. I couldn't get through it.
Rating: Summary: Couldn't put down !! Review: This book was as good as any mystery that I've read recently. I thought I enjoyed Baldacci and Grisham, this is better.
