Rating: Summary: Interesting read Review: This is a well written, exciting book. Lots of small details get wrapped up nicely in the end, however I thought that the ending itself could have been better. It seemed as though the bad guy was tracked down a little too easily. Overall, a very good book that I would recommend.
Rating: Summary: Unusual plot - great read! Review: Blood work has to be one of the most unusual books that I haveread. What a great idea. Well worked out plot that kept me reading long into the night and on my way to work the following morning. Cant't wait for my next Connelly book.

Rating: Summary: Glad I got it for free from a friend Review: I read several of Connelly's books. I enjoyed The Poet but havebeen disapointed by the rest. On the positive side, Connelly has a great way with explaining investigative procedures-probably due to his background in journalism. On the minus side, the plot was pretty predictable with one or two interesting twists. If you've read some of Connelly's other books you may even be able to predict the twists. I would have forgiven the plot if the characters had been more interesting and less one-dimensional. It seemed like they were there simply to carry the plot and technical details. If you want a fast read and an OK story, this book is fine. If you also want some compelling characters, I would recommend checking out James Elroy or early Lawrence Sanders.

Rating: Summary: Riveting Review: Wow! I tore through this book, reading about 250 pagesyesterday morning. I couldn't put this book down. I read "The Long Goodbye" right before this book and I decided that I am more of a contemporary mystery fan. I highly recommend this book to anybody who likes LA mystery books.

Rating: Summary: One of his best. A welcome diversion from the Bosch series Review: Connelly is an excellent storyteller and delivers some of hisbest work when moonlighting away from the familiar Bosch series. Blood Work is ingeniously plotted, with a number of suprises and ironic developments. He's a master at leaving several plausible options open while guiding you inescapably to a solution you didn't see coming. However, I agree with many reviewers that the ending is weak and rushed. McCaleb locates and dispatches the bad guy much too easily, and there is little sense of psychological menace considering the killer's resume. This is a quibble, and only renders a very good book imperfect. Blood Work would make a great movie. I'd rank the Connelly books as follows: 1) The Poet, 2) Blood Work, 3) The Black Echo, 4) The Last Coyote, 5) The Black Ice, and 6) The Concrete Blonde (haven't read Trunk Music or Angel's Flight, yet!)
