Rating: Summary: The teenage soul? How about the ten-year old's soul? Review: Lately the chicken soup people have been popping out books left and right that don't even compare to the first, and this is a perfect example. Reading one random story, I was reminded of my sixth grade year. As I continued reading I realized this story was supposed to be about a high school junior. As I read more I found many more examples of this. The stories and tales are very simple, almost fictional, and provide no comfort in the problems teenagers face. It seems that the authors focused on the "typical teenager" and forgot that times have changed. It also seems like the authors are trying to deny and ignore what teenagers really go through. I don't want to give the impression that I hated this book. I found some stories quite entertaining and can relate to some, mostly the ones that deal with death or hardships, something relevant for all ages. It also has many humorous cartoons. But, all in all, the book is mostly for younger teens at oldest. I don't recommend it unless it's raining and there's no power and you're home alone AND you've read every book in your house six times.
Rating: Summary: Chicken Soup does it again! Review: This book is great. I didn't know there were so many great true stories out there, but the authors of "Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul III" have found many more inspirational stories. This book was written to help teens deal with the issues that they face everyday, from first love to heartache, from best friends to enemies. This book will help guide you through the tough times and add happiness to the great times. The best part of this book is that the stories are written by teens for teens. There is something for everyone in it. The variety in this book is great. From the cartoons to the poems, you will never get bored of reading it. I could barely put it down. I learned a lot of great lessons while reading it. Another great point of this book is that you can go back and read different sections over again, depending on your mood. For example if you are depressed and want to read a story to brighten your day you can read one out of the "The Power of Love" chapter. I strongly recommend this book to anyone looking for a great read.
Rating: Summary: Inspirational book for teens. Review: I am an avid follower of the Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul series and after reading Teen 3 I have to admit I am increadibly impressed by the calibur in which this book was written. Teenagers obviously have alot to say, and in this book they say it with such heart, such intelligence and such gentle wisdom. I read the entire book in one sitting, I couldn't put it down and in that I realized something, that with all the books out there for teenagers, as a teen, I would much rather read stories written by my peers. The first two books of the series were increadible, but there is something to be said for that fact that this was the first to make me cry, laugh, and re-read the next day.
Rating: Summary: Pleased in Missouri Review: I am a high school teacher in Missouri. I have shared Teenage Soul lll with the student in my sophomore health class and they say it is excellent! My students love these books because it speaks directly to their lives. Thank-you Chicken Soup for giving a voice to teens everywhere.
Rating: Summary: This is my favorite book Review: I love the teenage Chicken Soup books. Each one was impossible to put down. I love the new one even more. It seems like the authors are really getting closer to the things teenagers care about. Don't get me wrong, the other books are fantastic, it is just that this one felt more "teenage" to me than any of the others. I am not going to be a teen for much longer and these books make me realize that the teen years are very specail. I am going to be sure to enjoy what is left of my teenage years. There were too many stories that were my favorites to list them all, but there is a secti0on on columbine that made me cry and the relationship chapter is incredible, especially the Dear Boy letter and the story Kissing The bully. There were so many goosd ones, you just have to read it and see for yourself. I am so thankful for these books.
Rating: Summary: Good, but not as moving Review: I was really happy when I found out that there was another Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul and rushed out to get it. The stories are not as good and I havn't felt connected to any of them. I love the stories of first love and relationships but I can't even remember one really happy one. I think everybody should read the first two but don't rush out to get the third.
Rating: Summary: BEST ONE YET Review: I bought this book the day before yesterday and I couldn't put it down. I wish there were more books about the stuff that we need to talk about. I guess I'm already waiting for the next one...
Rating: Summary: Satisfyingly Touching...Yet Not As Good as Previous Books Review: I really enjoy Chicken Soup for the Teenage Soul books...I was really excited for the 3rd one. And while this book was touching, uplifiting, and enlightening, It didn't live up to the first few Teenage Soul Books. I didn't think it was as good as the first or second books. Most of the issues covered in it's stories weren't as moving....and a lot of the stories lacked clear endings or had dissapointing, anticlimatic endings. With the first and second books, I felt uplifted, touched, and moved after finishing a story...but I didn't get that feeling as much with this book. And all the "Tough Stuff" stories (at least most of them) were about serious illnesses or deaths of friends or family....none were about depressed or disturbed teens or dealt with anyting that a lot of teens deal with on a day to day basis. I just felt the book couldv'e covered more subject area. And I wish there had been more poems...I love poems. While I'm enjoying this book and reading the stories, I'm not as crazy about it as I was about the first couple of Teenage Soul Books. I don't regret buying this book...it's awesome. Yet it could be better. But anyway....I give it 4 stars. And I DO recommend this book to teens everywhere....Buy it. You won't be disappointed.
Rating: Summary: great teen reading Review: i have read the two previous chicken soup for the teen soul books and they were awesome. i havent read this one yet since it just came out but i hope to as soon as possible. i reccommend all of them. have a great day.
Rating: Summary: Teen 3 Promises to be the best Review: We are so excited about this book. We were able to make it even better than the previous two. One way was to have all the stories (except for 2) written by teens. Secondly we feel this is an advanced version of the Chciken Soup for the Teenage Soul books. It goes a little deeper and the stories are packed with even more wisdom. The teens that we had read it all agreed, there was more to be gained by reading this book and each and every story was real, heartfelt and filled with the answers teens are looking for. More stories on relationships than ever before, more stories on friendship than ever before, this book promises to be a favorite. We can't wait to hear your feedback.
