Summary: infinitely-American photojournalist sees it all great book!
Review: The young American photojournalist on the frontlines, is actually you! the review says it is clear that Tony was still married and Val never knew. Well, She lives in New York City with her husband, the producer, so everything can happen. the book filled with inspirational examples infinitely more appealing than those sterile books telling us how to be perfect.

Summary: so bad it was good!
Review: this book was so bad it was fun to read just to marvel at 1. the unbelievable plot; 2.the number of times the heroine mentions how bad her childhood was; 3. the incredibly bad soap-opera dialog between the mother & daughter; 4. the thousands of times the author tells us that her heroine was A WAR PHOTOGRAPHER! 5. the plot lines that go nowhere & are not resolved; 6. how this book ever got published.
this was the 1st book I've read of this author; I understand she has written better books, but I think plowing thru this one was enough for me.

Summary: Shallow, boring, not up to BTB standards
Review: This book was so badly written and put together, that I'm glad it was a quick read. I'm an avid reader and have enjoyed, reading other BTB books. The only reason I kept reading, is to find out about the world famous painter and the relationship with the main character. What a joke!!! It seemed that the words "war photojournalist" were dropped into the text way, way too often -- as if the word processer was programmed to add those words whenever there was a mention of what the main characters did for a living and that the reader might just forget. It certainly didn't add anything especially since the descriptions of being "under fire" were really trite. Also the gratitous bedroom scenes were almost comical along with the continuous descriptions of meals, foods, clothes, etc. I certainly will think twice before picking up any other BTB books.

Summary: Was this a first draft?
Review: This is the only BTB novel I have read. I have to agree with the tone of most of the other reviewers that this was a waste of time and it is a wonder that a publisher actually read this and went ahead and published it. Was this a first draft that was written over a weekend and some how got to the publisher????

Summary: The book for martyrs
Review: This is what I call myself after having gone through the ordeal of reading this book to the end. I kept on thinking that somehow, out of respect, I owed it to Barbara Taylor to finish reading it. I prayed for a miracle good ending, and was rewarded when I finally did finish this "junk". I highly DO NOT RECOMMEND THIS BOOK.

Summary: Draggy and disappointing
Review: Too good of an author to put out material like this.

Summary: my review
Review: Val loses her lover, but in the healing process, is able to discover her true love. She is also forced to face her past, and in doing so, set herself free to meet her destiny.

The story is interesting, you cannot predict the end until the last page, and the places you "visit" are very interesting and varied. The characters are also very real and appealing.

Interesting and pleasant to book to read during a winter day.

Summary: A great audio
Review: Valentine Denningan is an American photojournalist. She has been sent to Kosovo with two colleagues, Tony Hampton (British lover) and Jake Newburg (American friend). Once there tragedy occurs and Tony Hampton is killed. At the funeral Val finds that Tony's life is not what she had been told, by him, that it was. It opens a Pandora's box of lies, deceit, secrets and pain. And if this isn't enough, she has to deal with phone calls from an obnoxious brother who is begging her to come home to America and visit the ailing mother who never loved her. He reasons for bothering her are purely selfish; his only worry is the will.

It's more than a love story; it's about relationships of all kinds: lovers, family, friends, associates, etc. The author leaves no stone un-turned with her characters and their directions in the story are limitless, it's astounding. For me just when I thought I had the jest of the tale, and said, "Oh, I know, this is going to happen...." Surprise! The author throws an unexpected curve. I love it when that happens! I chose to listen to the audio version of Where You Belong, and was pleased by the reader. She did a good job.
