Summary: The Christmas Box
Review: Richard Paul Evens wrote The Chirstmas Box for his two daughters, and to show them how much he cares about them. While he was writing it he had a inspiriation from his passed away sister. His sister was still birthed and on the 3rd anniversity of her death, he found his mother in her bedroom weeping over her. Then after he was finished with the book he gave it to his wife, and had her read it. It was midnight she finished reading the book, and was speechless. Then he gathered his family, and read it to them. He gave his first copy to his mother, then gave a copy to the other members of the family. Two weeks later he got a call and a woman was on the phone, and told him that it changed her life. He asked her where she got the book, and she told him from one of his relatives. Then another two weeks pasted, and he got a call from a book store asking where they can order the book, he told them that it wasn't published. The person was didn't believe him, because the bookstore have orders for THe Christmas Box. The Richard called publishers all around town and after a little bit of rejection they published the book. Then went on the road to promote The Christmas Box, while he was sighing books for people, he saw a woman staring at him. He asked her " Do you want me to sighn a book for you". She told him " You are to young, its not true" then he said " It's not true" then she said "The angel is gone". Later he went to a semitary with the old woman and found a tomestone, and next to it there was suppost to be a statue of a angel but there was none. On December 6, 1994, he had a sculpturer make a angel that had a writing on the base the said MY LITTLE ANGELS. He invited all people that lost a child to come for the unvailing of the sculpture, he thought there was only goin to be a couple dozen people there, but there was hundreds of people there. He had his mother lay a white flower on the base of the sculpture, and then other people would but there white flower on the base. Now every December 6 people would come back to the sculpture, and put a white flower on the base of the sculpture. this all happened from a book called THE CHIRSTMAS BOX.

Summary: Great message
Review: The christmas box is a book that has an important message within its lines. It is a short story, but the meaning of what the story leaves you is what is important. It was the first book of Paul Evans I read, I am starting Timepiece today...I really enjoyed The Christmas box, lovely!!!

Summary: What was the first gift of Christmas?
Review: That is the question answered by this book that can only tug at your heartstrings in a fashion that Evans is known so well for. A quick read, it is the story of an older woman who hires a young couple to see to her immediate needs. Along with the job comes living quarters in the east wing of her Victorian mansion. What follows is a lesson from a woman who has learned the hard way what's most important in life. This book won't be a disappointment; it will certainly leave you with a tear in your eye and make you think about how the busy days you spend away from your family are "like trading jewels for pebbles". Summary: too sappy, not well written
Review: I was really ready to like this, but found it sappy and a weak story. Details that didn't fit, loose ends -- what was the point of the music? Where was it coming from? And highly predictable. Lots better Christmas stories around, e.g. Polar Express, A Christmas Memory (Capote), Gift of the Magi, even Seuss's Grinch, etc. Dickens makes the same points more majestically in A Christmas Carol. I wouldn't recommend this over any of those.

Summary: wow
Review: i read this book after reading almost all the other ones he has written. this was an extremely powerful story that can be read all year around. it especially touched me since i read it during the christmas season. i can't wait to share this book with my children in future years. the story is very poignant to those who have lost someone special to them around christmas--the feelings in the book express your own.

Summary: Not only a Christmas book, but year round!
Review: Once you start reading this book, you can't stop. It drags you in and you don't want to put it down until you have finished. I started reading this one afternoon and thirty minutes later I was finished and sobbing. At one point I was crying so hard I couldn't see the words on the page. This book helps you see the true meaning of the holiday.

Summary: a sweet story, poorly told
Review: I just don't get it: in America, can any writer just dash out the most heartrending story, no matter how poorly written and sell millions of copies? After reading this and Timepiece (featuring of course a very sad "death of child" scene), I guess the answer is yes. Okay, it's a cute story and since the author just meant it to be a little inspirational story for his daughters, who can criticize him? But to hail it as a masterpiece is another matter. I won't bother to quote some of the really bad lines, but there are many. Let's just say that by the time you read yet another adverbial exclamation (she said tearily...), there's nothing left for the imagination. If good writers "show, not tell," this is 180 degrees in the opposite direction. It's spelled out to the last letter. I was waiting for a stage direction: reader -- this is the scene to cry over.

I don't want to take away from the fact that this is a nice story and a very short one at that, but I'm not sure why (unless we are so joyless we look anywhere for an uplifting story) Evans is the multimillion dollar author that he is. I'm not bitter -- just a bit shocked at how basic and non-literary his books are.

Summary: The Christmas Box
Review: I think that this book was excellent! It definetely deserves 4 stars! I love the suspence that it leaves you with at the end of every chapter! It was written by Richard Paul Evans. I loved the mystery within the whole book. The title explains the book. It is about a husband and wife and their little daughter who move into a house with an old rich window. They get paid to live here and help and they don't have to pay for rent or anything. They all of a sudden realize that weird things begin to happen like, tear stains on the open pages of a bible and music coming from the box. I loved it and would read it again anytime! Recomended to anyone who loves suspense-filled storys1

Summary: A most excellent book!
Review: This book is truly inspired! Of the all the authors I've read only Evans has inspired me to go on to read all his books. The Christmas Box is my favorite of his works. The tangibility of the scenes and reality of his characters made me feel as if I were enjoying a personal moment with a close friend, rather then sitting quietly reading a novel to myself. Each and every chapter, from the opening life lesson diary entry or love letter right down to the last sentence, is lovingly penned and incredibly thought provoking. This book will leave you a better person for having read it, especially if you're a parent.
