Rating: Summary: Patterson's best book yet! Review: I read this after Kiss The Girls and I thought this was even better. Alex Cross really came alive in this one. Once I started it I could not put it down. A must read.
Rating: Summary: my favorite Patterson book so far!!!!! Review: I keep telling myself how happy I am that I saw the movie "Kiss the Girls." If I hadn't seen that movie, then I wouldn't have read the book, and then I wouldn't have read more books! You see, I saw the movie Kiss the Girls, and decided I wanted to read the book. I loved Kiss the Girls so much that I realized that I had to read more James Patterson books. He puts so much twists and turns in his stories that I stayed up until 3 am reading this book and was sad when I realized that I had to stop. This book had a lot of manipulation and scary stuff happen. I remember when I read the part where Jezzie Flanigan was to be executed by lethal injection. I remember that I said "Oh my God! Are you kidding??" That's what James Patterson does. He puts so many twists, turns, surprises, and I-cant-believe-it stuff in his books that you really get into it. I couldn't put it down. I used to think that John Grisham was the best author. I'm kinda changing my mind now. Grisham may be great at courtroom drama, but Patterson is the master at suspense/thrillers!!!! All you weirdos who gave this book less than a 7 must not be able to spot a good story when you see one. Next on my list is Jack & Jill. I heard that was supposed to be good. And I'll bet it probably is!!!
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I've read!!!! Review: I loved this book. I loved the way Patterson keeps you on your feet or how he changes the plot right when you think your on the brink of knowing who did it. He always makes the ones you least expect do it. Or the ones you never thought would be involved, be involved. I enjoy the books that have Alex Cross. He happens to be my favorite character so far. I have only read this book and "kiss the girls", but I know that James Patterson will be an author I will continue reading.
Rating: Summary: Awesome Book!!!! Review: When I picked up this book after reading Kiss The Girls, I was expecting something awesome! I wasn't disappointed in the very least! This is the first book in a LONG time that I just couldn't bring myself to put down. I read for hours, totally engrossed at the situation that Alex Cross found himself in. An excellent hero in an excellent story, I would recommend you put this one on your MUST READ list!!!!
Rating: Summary: I THINK PATTERSON IS EXCELLENT!!!! Review: I HAVEN'T READ A BOOK SO GOOD IN 10 YEARS. I READ IT IN ONE NIGHT. I COULD NOT PUT IT DOWN. THREE OF MY FRIENDS READ IT AS WELL. I COULDN'T WAIT TO READ KISS THE GIRLS.
Rating: Summary: Believable, suspenseful. Better than Kiss the Girls! Review: After reading both Along Came a Spider and Kiss the Girls, found Along Came a Spider, more believeable. There are monsters out there like the villian in this book. Alex Cross, though somewhat super-human and NOT VERY LIKELY, makes a wonderful hero. You cheer for the hero in most of James Patterson's books. The ones he brings you close to, family, friends, never die. Is a first rate storyteller of our time!
Rating: Summary: The apex of psychological-thrillers Review: Having chosen this novel for a somewhat clever name, I was delighted to discover a clever story. Alex Cross has become an immediate favorite and Gary Soneji is as maniacle a killer as any I have read since Hannibal Lectur.
Rating: Summary: Patterson's Best Review: I first read " Kiss The girls" and was hungry for more Patterson. This follow up ( in my order of reading ) was perfect. Patterson makes a disgusting villain out of Gary Soneji and makes you grip the book until your knuckles turn white. His others have not exceded this calaber of writing, so read this novel first and get a taste of a great mystery/thriller writer.
Rating: Summary: a book of style and power. Fun to read. Review: Of the many elements which make 'Along Came A Spider' a great book - pacing, use of words, paragraph construction, plot, depth of characters, - it's unique and stylish feel, without a doubt, elevates it above 90 % of all other books of this genre. I remember the first time I'd read this book a few years ago. As I was into it, I could feel that this book had a certain 'elegance' to it. I really couldn't put into words why I felt this way about it, only that I definitely felt something special about it. And now, I could read just one chapter of any James Patterson book and know he was the author . He has a polished and unique style with phrasing. Patterson is a special kind of author. He easily blends into his writing the subtle nuances that human beings possess. All paragraphs mean something. All words are selected with care. This is especially so with this novel. And though I address a couple of flaws here, keep in mind that they are so minor taken in the context of this powerful work, that they don't detract much from the majesty of this book. Why can't readers quit whining about minor mistakes and just enjoy it for it's entertainment value ? Jeez.... Following are two points I'd like to mention : To do it right, an author should have increasing tension with one major climax at the end. This book has two or three semi-major climaxes. As such, the 'tension' element doesn't pack the wallop that it easily could have. Also, many of 'signature' clues to the crimes don't accurately adhere to well studied serial murder patterns. Though dramatic and well told, again, they're not accurate in usage. If Patterson had chosen to avoid these two small flaws, I would definitely call it the best book I've ever read . Too bad, he was so close to a perfect book. Nevertheless, I still call it a great book. You won't find a novel with better written phrasing and paragraphs, nor one with half the style this book has. Read it, it'll soon become the standard by which you judge all other 'thriller' type books. It's my #1 thriller book.
Rating: Summary: James Patterson is EXCELLENT! Review: I've just found James Patterson and I can't stop reading his books. I love thrillers and he certainly has the corner market on style. In Along Came A Spider, I found myself staying up all night just to see what happened. Then I went to the library and checked out all his books. I haven't been disappointed yet! The plots are wonderful and I love the characters. They are like friends by the end of the book! I'll keep reading everything he writes. I'm looking forward to Cat and Mouse!!
