Rating: Summary: good enough to be a movie... great read! Review: I very much enjoyed this book! It kept you on the edge of your seat from page one. It was a definte page turner, and i liked it. Patterson digs right into the mind of a physcopath, and shows us what is there. Read it!
Rating: Summary: You'll pick it up, but you won't put this one down!! Review: This was my first Patterson novel, but certainly not my last! I could not put this book down. I took it EVERYWHERE. (I even read it at the gym, on the stairmaster!) What got me was that just about everywhere I went, book in tow, someone, strangers, would approach me to tell me how great it was!!! KISS THE GIRLS is next for me.
Rating: Summary: a wonderful read! Review: This was the first Alex Cross novel I read and I was instantly hooked. I followed immediately with Kiss the Girls and Jack and Jill. These are among the best novels I have ever read. I definetely recommend these to anyone.
Rating: Summary: Read this BEFORE they make the movie! (and they surely will) Review: This is a great book to read if you are a first time reader of James Patterson. Most of his other novels are equally enjoyable and also recommended. Try to find yourself a rare copy of "Virgin" or "The Thomas Berryman Number;" these are hard to find but worth a look, especially if you like James Patterson's writing style and want to read an entirely different type of novel.
Rating: Summary: Kidnapper sets Detective Cross on long sets of trails. Review: I believe that this wasn't as good as Kiss The Girls, but surely James Patterson is one of the best. Fast-Paced...And it keeps you hooked all night...
Rating: Summary: Bravo, Bravo, Bravo! Review: A wonderful book to read! I read Kiss the Girls first, then saw the movie and that's when I decided to read Along Came A Spider. This book was a "killer thriller". Gary Soneji/Murphy has to be the most bizarre character I have ever read about. He is so good at what he does that he had everyone fooled (except Alex Cross). The thing that I didn't like about the book was that I would have loved to find out more about how Gary's family reacted when he was arrested in connection with the crimes. Alex Cross is as good as they come. I knew from the beginning that something was up with Jezzie Flanagan from the start. Like Nana Mama, I couldn't trust her and I was just reading the book. Overall the book was excellent and I am definitely going to continue to read more of James Patterson's books. Thanks James and keep up the good work! END
Rating: Summary: One of the best mystery novels I've read! Review: This was the third book of Patterson's that I've read and it couldn't have been better. I was so enthrawled with the characters that I only stopped reading when I was so tired I couldn't hold the book up anymore. Gary Sonjei will have you sitting on the edge of your seat from the moment you meet him and Dr. Cross will become your knight in shinning armor.
Rating: Summary: There seems to be some enormous holes in the plot. Review: I enjoyed the action and plot-driven pace of Patterson's "Along Came a Spider," but was disappointed in the one glaring hole in the courtroom drama. If the prosecutors could simply point out that Gary Murphy knowlingly disguised himself on a daily basis to be "Mr. Chips," then they could have shown that Soneji was not a schizophrenic. Being a "nice" schoolteacher took enormous effort on the part of either Murphy or Soneji - thus, pre-meditation for crime was apparent at this stage. Teachers at Washington Day describe "Murphy" as likable - it couldn't have been "Murphy," ever, teaching school. Murphy would have wondered what the hell he was doing in a classroom, in DC, in a wig. He never did. Therefore, the whole ploy was impossible from the get-go. Luckily, Patterson was able to distract us with burning crosses and other sub-themes so that we readers would gloss over the weakness of any schizophrenia defense. At least we can take comfort in the wise decision of the jury; for they saw through the weak defense argument.
Rating: Summary: Page Turner Review: Wow what a great book! I couldn't put it down and finished it in four days! The plot and characters are very well developed. I love the way everything fits together so well. I would recommend this book to anyone who wants to get started on a great author!
Rating: Summary: Breathtaking, Fast Paced, Scary. Review: I first wanted to read Patterson after watching Kiss the Girls. I am so happy I did. Detective Alex Cross, the protagonist in the book and movie, is a cross between the real life John Douglass and Mike Hammer. I ended up rooting for him throughout this book full of twists and turns (not always for the best). Gary Soneji, the villian, is a psychopathic killer who literally frightened me and made my blood curl. And Jezzie Flanagan, Cross' love interest, puts a complex spin on this thriller. The book is fast paced and I never wanted to put it down. I just hope I get to read more about Alex Cross in the future.
