Rating: Summary: You will loose sleep over Patterson's books! Review: I was given "When the wind Blows" for Christmas and I must admitt I could not put the book down! I am hooked on James Patterson, I cannot read enough of his books. My favorites are the stories that include Det/Dr Alex Cross. Mr. Patterson I am giving up Mary Higgins Clarke, I am now a James Patterson fan! Thanks for the great reads!
Rating: Summary: Review: Along Came A Spider Review: I am a fourteen year old male and inadvertantly picked up the book because I was bored while babysitting. I couldn't put it down. I looked at the other reviews and I see how Gary Soneji/Murphy is a lot the killer/vicim in Primal Fear, but that is the only similarity in my opinion. I liked the book because it kept throwing me off; Just when I thought I knew what was going on Patterson sent me through another loop. I am not a serious reader and books are not for me, however I highly recomend Along Came A Spider to all recreational readers, but to those of you who obsess over the minor details and compare books and authors... lets just say this one isn't for bookworms. If you have any books to recommend write me an e mail at JalpnoPax@aol.com
Rating: Summary: Great story despite overdose of artificially sweetened heros Review: This book definitely makes Gary Soneji more interesting than Cat and Mouse did, where I thought he was ridiculously overrated. If you read this book first, you understand him better, although some of the criticisms below from other readers are valid ones. I like the story, but found myself flipping through some of the more nauseating parts of the book. Do I mean the gory killings? No they were pretty good, I mean the idiotic romantic passages. We can tell about 5 lines after reading about Jezzie that he is going to fall in love with her. We don't need 20 of the 90 chapters sprinkled through the story fawning on and on about his increasing love for her, the wonderfully fun things they do together, and how he keeps liking her more and more. For anyone who hasn't read the story, I won't say anything about what their affair leads to, but you can skip over every single mention of their funfilled time together and not miss a thing. The other things that is sickening is the fact that Alex is such an incredibly perfect man. He loves his children more than anyone else in the world does, he feels for the poor and downtrodden and proves it by living in their neighbourhood, despite the fact that (weep, sob..) his wife was killed there in a drive-by shooting. And to make him even more perfect despite such a tragedy, how about if he serenades the neighbourhood with a piano on his front porch, belting out all kinds of classics, while his kids and Grandma look on adoringly. Why has his piano not been vandalized yet? What else can we do to make him perfect? Oh, let's have him work down at the local soup kitchen! And that Nana? What a card, golly she is just so smart, and with a razor-sharp wit. Boy, when she tells a knife-waving killer "This is our house, get of our house!", well, jeepers I just wanted to jump up and hug her. And Sampson? Ha, what a great guy, always says something funny, always right about everything, always knows when to be tough and when to be Mr. Sensitive. Another huggable hero. And yet, despite all these nausea-inducing irritants, it's still a great story! Now that I know who Soneji is, it would have made him more interesting in Cat and Mouse, where the Mr. Smith killer made the book better. And what kind of a silly name is Soneji anyway? I can't find a single Soneji in my phone book, I kept thinking there was some puzzle to his name. Did he make it up? We never know, other than pronounced backwards it could sound like "I genius". Now that's reaching.
Rating: Summary: RIVETING Review: WHAT A TRIP, FROM D.C. TO FLORIDA TO THE ISLANDS TO A QUAINT CABIN IN NORTH CAROLINA. I SEE AN ALL STAR CAST TOMMY LEE JONES AS GARY'S LAWYER, KEVIN SPACEY AS SONJEI, KEITH DAVID AS SAMPSON, MICHELLE PFEIFFER AS JEZZIE, RUBY DEE AS MAMANANA AND WE ALREADY KNOW WHO PLAYS ALEX CROSS. CAN'T WAIT FOR THE MOVIE!!!
Rating: Summary: Mad Libs Review: Once again I have to say that once you've read all the books in the Alex Cross series you'll understand what I mean by "Mad Libs". You start to see patterns and the stories become easier to figure out. It's almost as though Patterson has a template he uses to write his books. The thing I hate most are the italics. I don't need italics to suddenly "realize" that I'm supposed to be shocked or feel some emotion. I'm not an emotionless drone that spends all of my life outside of work watching the idiot box. Patterson really ought to start writing for "real" people.
Rating: Summary: Great start to a great series... Review: This book had me from page one. I loved the story, the style, the intesity. James Patterson is definitely one of the best authors going. I love the way the chapters consist of only a few pages. This book is almost impossible to put down. I recommend it to everyone who enjoys a little excitement while reading.
Rating: Summary: The "badguy" Soneji is a very entertaining psycho! Review: The book is very exciting when Gary Soneji comes on, because you know that something terrible is going to go wrong. Patterson is a excellant writer and should make a movie out of this one. A must read!
Rating: Summary: This book was awsome!!! Review: Ok, it's probably one of the best books I've ever read. I'm only 13 and I havn't read very many books yet but this one is the best. I'm now reading Cat and Mouse, part 2 of Along Came a Spider. Gary Soneji/Murphy is one of the best psychotic characters I've ever read about. Alex Cross is the best detectives I've ever read about. This is the kind of book you can never put down. If you would like to discuss this book with me online, my ICQ number is 17865871 thanks.
Rating: Summary: One of the best books I have read in a very long time. Review: This book is great. It is a real page turner, and I havent read somthing so good in years. Dr/Detective Cross is a riviting hero, and his nemisis, Gary Sonjie is a perfect cold blooded villian. This book will keep you up late into the night, as it did to me. Croos vs. Sonjie is a great match up, evil, Gary, trying to beat good, Alex. Sonjie and Cross are copeting in this novel like they do in Cat and Mouse as well. Dr/Dective Croos is trying to figure out what makes this mad man tick before he kills inocent people or kidnapes more kids. He has already kidnaped two kids of famous people, and wants to become the first mass kidanapper, and also one of the great serial killers like Bundy. This is a great book and so are the other Alex Cross and Gary Sonjie novels, Cat and Mouse, these are two books that I highly recomend.
Rating: Summary: UNBELIEVEABLE!!!! Review: I had never really had the chance to be a James Patterson "fan" because I have only read " Kiss The Girls" but now I am one of his biggest fans! I received my order for "Along Came A Spider" yesterday and I have already finished the book! It was unbelieveable! I ahd a hard time putting it down! Alex Cross again has solved the perfect crime and suffered in the process but it never compromises the ending and we are never disappointed!! If you like suspense, plots, and whodunnit; then this is the book for you. You won't be disappointed!!!
