Rating: Summary: never sure Review: Like all the James Patterson Books, and the Alex Cross books in particular, you are drawn into the story from the very start. You quickly care about the characters and are never quite sure where the book is going. The books starts with the kidnapping of two white rich kids. One is the son of a government bigwig. Then we are turned to murders of several black families. This time, it took until nearly the very end to figure out how the stories were intertwined. You are never sure of who did what. We have listened to or read all of his books and have yet to be disappointed. I highly recommend this and all of his books and can't wait for the next one to come out.
Rating: Summary: Definate read Review: If you have to read anything the Alex Cross series should be it! This book kept me on my toes from the start. It has all the great things murder, pyhcos and more. I found the one character Mr. Soneji quite humerous with his split personality. And I hear he comes back in later books i cant wait to read more about him. You have to be a real pyshco to hold up a McDonalds. "I TOLD YOU I WANT EXTRA FRIES AND NO TOMATO"
Rating: Summary: Excellent Suspense Story- goes with Silence of the Lambs Review: First of all, I would like to say I am not an avid reader. Few books keep my attention. This is one of those books. The story starts out with a gruesome murder that disgusts Alex Cross, a brilliant detective/psychologist. Then, two children are kidnapped by a brilliant psychopath. It turns out that the kidnapper is one of the most dangerous people in the country. This book literally scared me, and I don't get scared a lot. The last 20 pages of the book is one of the most disturbing endings I have ever read. James Patterson does a superb job writing this book. The only reason I am giving this book 4 Stars is because there is a love story going on between Alex Cross and another police officer, Jezzie Flannagan. This love story goes on through the whole book, which there is nothing wrong with, but it just takes away from the story. I mean, the kidnapper strikes, then these two go on a trip to the Virgin Islands. But don't let that keep you from reading this book. It is a disturbing thriller that has kept me up a couple of nights!
Rating: Summary: One Of Patterson's Best Review: I have read many of James Patterson besides the Alex Cross series because I was told not to read it....when I did read it I could see that my friend was not reading the same book! This book had it all! Suspense, horror, violence, and even a little love and romance! It is about a kidnapper that kidnappes 'rich kids' for a ransom just becuase he 'wantes to be somebody' you'll see where the astonishing novel takes you when you open up the thrilling page-turner
Rating: Summary: Finish in one sitting Review: This story was amazing. Realistic to the point where we actually get to see what goes on inside the mind of a killer, as well as a talented detective. Extremely interesting story, gave me nightmares.
Rating: Summary: along came a funky book Review: this book was funky and i mean funky. It began like a mystery but i got scared. i never actually read the last 400 pages but it was funky.
Rating: Summary: Product Quality Not Up To Standards Review: In early April I found that you were offering a hardcover printing of Along came A Spider by James Patterson so I placed one on order as a gift for my wife. Subsequently it was back ordered and I received it almost 12 weeks after I originally placed the order. Upon opening the box I found that it was not a "real" hardcover book but a paperback book with a "hard cover". My expectations were that it would be a full size book printed on white paper not this imitation of a hardcover. To me, as to a lot of other consumers, the term "hardcover" implies a certain level of quality above that found in the average paperback. This was a Mother's Day gift and needless to say, I was rather disappointed in the quality of the item received.
Rating: Summary: Along Came another mediocre read. Review: I still maintain this opinion: when I run out of new stories by the really great writers like Lawrence Block, Joe Lansdale, Robert Parker and Dean Koontz, I start looking for mediocre writers to fill my reading time. Authors like Stephen King, John Saul, Jonathan Kellerman and James Patterson spring immediately to mind. I get no feeling from any of these characters! They are not real to me, they hold no interest for me. It's like James is practicing characterization with only one goal in mind -- profound mediocrity. The scenes are also dull and choppy. I get no sense of where the story is going because the chapters are monotonously too short and go nowhere. I found these tedious qualities to be evident in the other four books that I have read from this author. I am glad I borrowed them from the library! I shall not read this man's works any more; there's only so much bad literature that one can tolerate before one is compelled to expel it all...
Rating: Summary: GREAT BOOK..... Review: This was a great book...really great book. I read this book front to back, it was sooo good! A chiller! Read this is I sware a spider will come. It suprises you several times. James Patterson is the man of mystery!
Rating: Summary: Some flaws, but one of the best books of all Time! Review: When I saw the movie preview, I knew I HAD to read the book.It has some flaws, but it is very good.It is about Alex Cross, a very experienced detective meets up with Gary Sonjei( is that how you spell it?) a nearly uncaptuarell serial killer, who captures a famous actresse's daughter, and the secretary of the United State's son, and holds them captive for a long time.I haven't finished the book, but i'm about 1/2 of the way through.
